So who is really surprised? Golfing in Hawaii.
I could spend everyday posting the tips I get about about the President. I could be like every other conservative blogger and just repeat over and over how much I dislike this President. I don’t because you’d get as bored reading it as I would get writing it. I don’t dislike him because of his race, I don’t dislike him because he’s a Democrat. I dislike him because he’s just a crappy person. To wit;
Army captains Natalie Heimel and Edward Mallue Jr. knew Obama was headed to Hawaii for the holidays, so on a whim, they extended him an invite to attend their Dec. 28 wedding — one he politely declined. That same day, they were informed they would have to move their wedding location.
The wedding was set to be at the 16th tee box at Kaneohe Kipper Golf Course on the Marine Corps Base in Hawaii — a favorite of both Mallue and Obama.
If it had been me, or any other decent person, we would have suspended our plans for the day to accommodate the betrothed couple on their day. But I guess that was too hard for this crowd at the White House. The captains were gracious, according the White Housians;
After Bloomberg asked Obama officials about the scheduling conflict, Obama called the bride.
“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, who said they had a “wonderful talk.”
Yeah, well, he didn’t call them before the media asked about it. Good on the couple for not making a big deal out of it. But it never should have happened in the first place. I understand the security concerns of having a wedding party near the President, but he should have removed himself from the area instead of expecting the couple to change their plans. Did it all work out in the end? Yes, but it never should have happened in the first place.
Thanks to Richard for the link.

It’s not the first time
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2631931/Couple-booked-Cardiff-City-Hall-wedding-plans-thrown-chaos-PRESIDENT-OBAMA-wants-dinner-day.html
Or the second time:
http://gawker.com/5944678/after-nearly-ruining-a-couples-wedding-day-president-obama-apologizes-with-a-handwritten-note-and-a-fancy-gift
Or nearly the THIRD time:
http://myfox8.com/2014/10/05/president-obamas-motorcade-nearly-ruins-couples-wedding/
I did read the third example you offered. After seeing how trite this issue and the nit picking blame game FOX News plays, that apparently you and the author of this blog are willing to take seriously,I think I’ll skip the other examples.
Why would the idiots at FOX concoct a non-news story like this. Someone may have died because the traffic problem caused by the president blocked an ambulance from reaching them. Many things cause traffic delays, why is this instance newsworthy. What is the error of the president and the White House on this one? Well, its not newsworthy and there is no error committed here. That doesn’t stop fox from writing the article to imply the president is at fault. This is reporting for the simple minded and gullible. Is that why you take it seriously?
The movement of heads of state and their security procedures cause delays in every nation. We can easily assume that a George W Bush motorcade caused the same problems for many while he was president. Did FOX do the same sort of story on Bush? I doubt it.
So your problem is that one out of four of the instances was reported on by a local Fox affiliate. Even though if you read the article you can see it was picked up off the CNN WIRE service. The other examples are from the Gawker and the Daily Mail in the UK. Bastions of the right if I ever saw them. But by god it says Fox right there!! How dare they ‘concoct’ a story like this!
As it happens the Daily Mail is a conservative oriented newspaper. Who cares where they picked it up from, it’s the rightie slant it’s being given. The Gawker is another online tabloid on par with the rest of them.
After watching the prep work for Presidents Clinton (when I was in Germany) and Obama (at ft Bliss), I’m more inclined to blame the secret service for the plan cancellation.
Probably but I was taught at Ft Benning eons ago that the Commander is responsible for evey thing his troops do or fail to do.
You point being the the Secret Service are his “troops”?
I’ll be the devil’s advocate here. The golf course knew he was coming, the White House staff knew he was coming, and the Secret Service knew he was coming. None of this is spur of the moment when it deals with the President going anywhere. SOMEONE should have checked the schedule well ahead of time and adjusted. I doubt the President even knew about the wedding location ahead of time. even the invitation decline was probably written by a staffer. Not a fan of the President, but there are a lot of people who should have done their jobs and it would have avoided this entire thing.
No question, several somebodies dropped the ball … but, that seems to be SOP for this administration.
That’s assuming any of those fumbling dolts ever even found the ball in the first place.
The GC more than likely did not know when the WON was coming to play golf. The SS probably did tell the GC or themselves either. The Won’s aides knew where and when the Wedding was going to be.The WON only thinks of other peoples only his own. Joe
A great many people are using this matter to attack the Golfer in Mom Jeans. I’m not going there. It is well settled that if something looks like shit and smells like shit, it most likely is shit. There is no need to pick it up and taste it. In other words, this should surprise no one. I see it as very poor planning and judgment by the captains. Hell, THEY invited B. Hussein to their golf-course wedding. They are free to invite whomever they want–and I am free to call them both assholes for inviting him.
^^Like^^
Regan would have attended the wedding.
Clinton would and be hitting on the bride.
Bush either would have graciously attended with his wife; or have offered to have them at the ranch as wedding gift. And he certainly would have postponed or cancelled his precious game.
Carter probably would have blessed them and offered to officiate.
We can go through the list; but this is the first POTUS in my memory who behaves like medieval royalty and the citizens are merely his subjects. Funny thing is, in countries with genuine royal houses, the monarchs and their families are much more gracious and considerate.
That’s because real royal houses have real royalty in them. You don’t go to Walmart looking for Gucci.
Yeah, the Obamas remind me a great deal of trailer trash who’ve just hit the Power Ball for a cool 100 million, and decided to force their way into some posh social circles.
They are still holding true to their roots, but now they have enough money to make problems disappear.
visions of Obama’s face on a black Rodney Dangerfield body….
First of all, the Captains were EXTREMELY lucky that the President didn’t go to their wedding. Anybody who has ever had to deal with the Secret Service knows that would have been a freakin’ nightmare.
Second: I wish the President(s) would learn that flying (by helicopter and then by plane) is far kinder to us poor schmucks who have lives, and have to get to work and/or back home, when they’re around. I have had the…er…pleasure of living in two places that the President visited. MILES of roads in all directions blocked off for hours, sometimes a whole day. Nobody but the Presidential detail in or out ANYWHERE. It was nuts.
Thank God I live in a fly-over state now!
Everyone I know who has been stationed at Andrews AFB hated it simply because of the President being in such close proximity.
*RAMP FREEZE*!!!!
(fark that.)
Yep Pinto. Dear Leader showed up in our Richmond suburb to have a back yard chat with folks from the neighborhood. Locked down for hours plus the advance team. Best was that there wasn’t a swinging dick in the group from that neighborhood…they were all bused in and they all loved them some Obama.
Many, many moons ago, when Bill Clinton was President, he visited Denver and stayed in a hotel on the south side of town. At the time, I didn’t know or care. I was going into work and a Colorado State Trooper pulled across the freeway and stopped all the traffic on I-25. The presidential caravan pulled onto the freeway and proceeded north. When they were out of sight, the way was clear and off we went. It would have been a little less dangerous of we would have had some warning instead of having a cop pull across the freeway right in front of me while I am doing 75 mph but there you go.
Somebody once mentioned that the Secret Service can take all the fun out of any event. After their recent troubles I am not completely surprised.
My congratulations to the happy couple, may you have a long and happy marriage. I think that you made the right decision to change your venue and I think that you got lucky that Mr. Obama did not accept your invitation. Just imagine how fun it would be when the Secret Service frisked the wedding party.
Pres. Clinton drove right past our front door during a quick passage through Worcester. They only closed off the area for as long as needed. Little disruption, all told. I don’t know why it is so different with this POTUS.
You are very willing to pass judgment even though you know very little about what really transpired. Do you honestly think that the president knew about the conflict with the wedding event?
This sort of thing is what the Secret Service handles. I doubt the chief of staff knew anything about it either because it doesn’t rise the level of concern that would call on the Secret Service run the issue up the command structure.
What is your justification for your intense dislike of this president? Obama has been a moderate president, he has presided over an aggressive military and security policy, the ACA was devised to leverage market for insurance not replace it with a government plan. This was done in deference to Republican preference. He’s not your guy, so what. You have no substantive reason to hate Obama.
I won’t deny it. I hated George W Bush. He was a disgrace. But I hated him because of his outrageously poor policy decisions and his willingness to impose very aggressively conservative ideas on the 50% of the nation that is against that. The president has to president of all the people not just of those who voted for him. Obama has been the president of all Americans despite the bad behavior and arrogant hostility of REpublicans
as opposed to the current President aggressively pushing his ideas on the other 50% who oppose them? Can’t have it both ways, David
“Do you honestly think that the president knew about the conflict with the wedding event?”
If he didn’t know, then someone on his staff is guilty of forging his signature and not telling him that he “signed” and official statement congratulating them.
“… he should have removed himself from the area instead of expecting the couple to change their plans.”
Alas, that would require a modicum of class, Jonn, and the Obama’s make “Trailer Trash” look Rodeo Drive, Beverly Hills chic.
IMO, anyway.
IF, big if, huge had REAL class, he would have taken the time to attend the ceremony. No matter what you think of him, Bush would have done so.
Damon iPhone! huge should be he.
Oh, but MustangCryppie, ‘huge’ instead of ‘he’ has so MUCH more scope to it, don’t you know.
John, cut Dear Leader some slack! He needle the golf course to “end” the Afghan war!
Yeah, heaven forbid a president changes his actions in accordance with changing situations. At least he didn’t have a ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner strung across the island of a carrier three days after Fallujah blew up in our faces. Speaking of Dear Leaders.
From what I’ve read, the caterer knew of the possibility and made secondary arrangements for the ceremony, so all went well. Not that that excuses the act. Wonder why his approval rating among the military is at 15%?
Umm…fifteen percent? Please tell me these people have never thrown live hand grenades.
http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/military-members-give-obama-15-percent-approval-rating/article/2557722
The Bushes were considerate of others in other ways too:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2014/12/25/why-george-w-bush-never-left-d-c-until-the-day-after-christmas//
Some people have no class. #horsesass #narcissist
Yes, this is tacky. Most of what this beanbrained dink does IS tacky. But it all pales by comparison to what happened in July this year.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2704357/ThanksObama-Presidents-motorcade-prevents-woman-labor-getting-LA-hospital-30-minutes.html
That’s right: bodaprez’s motorcade forced a woman in labor to wait 30 minutes before she could cross the street to get to the hospital.
There is no end to the tacky, tacky, tacky crap weasel behavior of that bunch of jackasses in WDC.
Do you really think something is done differently by this White House? That’s ridiculous…obviously you don’t know anything about it. I can tell you that it was the same DURING THE REAGAN ADMINISTRATION! I know because I had to wait to cross the street along the motorcade’s route often…I lived in NYC and every president goes there numerous times each year.
You are way off base. Why don’t you admit you hater Obama because he is black. Tacky is you.
Project much, David?
The only thing David is projecting is that you’re a racist. Just admit it. It’ll dilute your posts about the president, but you’ll feel better.
David,
Good to hear from you! I sincerely hope your many comments on here are satire or a joke. If they aren’t then please GFY. And while you’re at it get someone with writing skills above a first grade level to proof read the bullshit gibberish you’re writing prior to posting. You really need to STFU because while we may have thought you were stupid, you are doing nothing to change our minds with your witty writings. Cheers bitch
Does that mean that you hate Bush because he’s white? If not, then you have a really nice double standard there in your racially disparate eyes.
I don’t care what color a person is. I learned in the military, as most all of us have, that it is the content of character and not color of skin that determines the worth of a man.
Do you know who said that? Do you know what he meant? He meant that you can take your Al Shapton colored glasses off and look at what people are complaining about.
Bush was the victim of many more personal attacks than Obama. However, people aren’t attacking Obama as much as his policies. So, if a policy is considered a race, then I am racist. Otherwise, I am just a standard American who is simply asshole-ist.
No, people who don’t like Bush don’t like him because he and his cronies lied their way into war in Iraq after mismanaging the war in Afghanistan while failing to provide funding for either war.
Actually, I’d guess folks here couldn’t care less about the POTUS’s skin color. Rather, I’d guess they don’t much care for the POTUS because they believe he’s a Socialist not very far to the right of Marx and Lenin who has little or no executive or leadership experience or skills.
But maybe that’s just me.
You people elected a Chicago politician and a lawyer as President of these United States who had less than 18 months of experience as a senator. I’m not a racist, but you’re an idiot.
Your assignment, look up socialism and write an essay defending your belief that the president is a socialist with quotes from the definition. Then compare and contrast socialism and communism for extra credit.
I fully support the President’s golf trips. In fact he should vacation and golf everyday until he leaves office, no matter how much it costs or who he inconveniences. It’s much better than letting him do anything else.
Sadly, this is a very true statement.
Like SJ said.
And the Prez should stay on vacation and smoke pot the rest of his life. He already acts like a pot head, doesn’t know what the hell he’s doing anyhow.
Why don’t you tell us how a pothead acts, why you know so much about it and why you think the president is a pothead…and your a pinhead.
Gee, the above quotes seem to be from someone who obviously has not yet mastered the distinction between “you’re” and “your”. Or the distinction between nouns and verbs, for that matter. And who also seems to have significant problems with his sentence composition.
Yet he calls others here “pinheads”, and tells them they “think like a child”. And, unprovoked, he also preemptively plays the race card.
You might want to brush up on your written English, “Einstein”. Because if it accurately reflects your intellect, well – maybe you’re the one who’s out of your intellectual depth when commenting here.
David, MSNBC called wondering why you’re trolling here at TAH instead of watching them this morning.
David J Gill…..
Barack Obama’s Monica Lewinsky.
Poetrooper, Fox called asking the same about you. Now write us a poem about troopers, that rhymes.
Two of ‘his’ officers were getting married. Officers who take an oath to obey ‘his’ orders. I wonder if he even knows that?
I’d bet if they had been same-sex officers getting married he would have attended.
You think like a child.
You’re right. A child sees without presuppositions. A child sees what is before them without bias. A child sees what is and not what is not.
In other words, a child sees the truth of the matter.
That is a very good compliment, sir. There might be hope for you, yet.
A child thinks without logic too, don’t forget. Is that a compliment?
America is a large country. He could have picked any city at random and had a good chance of interfering with someone’s important event. I think you’re preparing climbing gear for molehills.
King Hussein is on vacation. He can stay the fuck home.
Oh yeah, right. On vacation. . .
well, on an objective basis – friends in El Paso tell me that when Al Gore came and as VP gave a speech in Las Cruces, the Secret Service shut down I-10 from the airport exit all the way to Lost Crotches – that’s a solid 40 miles of interstate bottlenecked for hours on end. I’m not condoning everything they do, but the Secret Service’s mantra is to not give ANYONE the slightest opportunity to harm the Prez – I blame them.
