Thursday morning feel good stories
Chief Tango sends us a slew of stories for this morning, I guess the thieves are out doing their Christmas shopping early this year. The first comes from Texas;
Police aren’t releasing many details at this time, but say the home invasion happened inside a home in the 1100 block of Hillcrest Boulevard about 2 A.M. The suspect is identified as 20-year-old Dakota Ray Huckaby of Gainesville.
Belva McClinton with Gainesville police says the homeowner told officers over the phone he had shot the intruder.
“Officers did arrive on scene and located a male laying in the backyard of the residence,” said McClinton. “He succumbed to his injuries, so they did not transport from the scene.”
Family members at the residence didn’t wish to speak to the media, but they told us that the homeowner is the father of a 9-year-old boy, and he made the choice he felt necessary to protect his household–a decision that locals say they understand.

The next story comes from Nebraska;
Police say [Lee] Harvey approached the front door of the home when the homeowner heard a noise around 2:30 a.m. and came out to check. That homeowner confronted the suspect and the two got into a scuffle. The homeowner then opened fire, striking Harvey in the chest.
Harvey tried to run away to the east, but police found him collapsed in the street about two blocks away from the residence. Medics rushed him to the hospital in “very critical” condition. He later died while receiving treatment at CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center.
Here’s another one from Texas where you don’t mess with a 71-year-old and his wife;
Ronnie Lummus and his wife were leaving the Aldi grocery store on the 3100 block of Forest Lane at about 7:20 p.m. when a 36-year-old man approached the woman, grabbed her gold necklace and knocked her down, according to police.
Lummus, who had a concealed handgun, fired multiple shots at the man, striking him as he tried to flee in his nearby vehicle, police said. The man succumbed to his injuries, though, and collided with a parked vehicle.
The last story comes from California;
Detectives say the woman was asleep in her home, when the burglar alarm went off, waking her and her roommate. She then discovered a 34-year-old woman inside her home trying to shut off the alarm. After the victim told the suspect to get out of her house, the woman became verbally abusive and threatened the homeowner. The woman armed herself with a handgun from the master bedroom and tried to force the suspect to leave.
“Fearing for her safety, the victim fired a round at the suspect, hitting her in the leg,” he said. “The suspect ran out of the house and collapsed on a lawn a few houses to the north.”

Well, there are some folks that won’t try that, again, any time soon.
Yep. Three of four are no more – and will not have the opportunity to be repeat offenders in the future.
Oh, I thought we all supposed to just cower under the bed!
Thanks for the upbeat morning news.

What our government recommends:
Homeowner: Return to bedroom
Homeowner: Load shotgun
Homeowner: Step onto back porch, fire two shots into the air
Perp: locks the door with perp inside and homeowner outside.
Homeowner: call Joe Biden on cell phone and ask what to do next.
There are people in the United States who do not understand why this didn’t work and who think that this is the right approach.
Ex- I know that you are not part of that group. I’m thinking that anyone who breaks into your house is likely to end up cooked for next week’s cat food. Whenever I think of you, I see Angelina Jolie, in the kitchen, in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, with knives.
You know, that’s becoming my favorite news expression:
“Succumbed to his injuries…”
