Donald William Zub; BOLO

This isn’t really a case of stolen valor, as we’ve come to know what the term means, but it’s a case of stolen honor. Don Zub is a real SEAL, in that he graduated from the requisite training, but after a short time, he was asked to leave the Teams. Rumor has it that it was drugs and alcohol abuse that inspired the request. But, that’s not the worst of it. Now, with his SEAL tattoo fully exposed, he trolls SEAL events and funerals for money. At one event, for example, he sold raffle tickets at $50/pop with this car as the prize;

After the event, he drove off with the proceeds from the raffle in the car that was supposed to be a prize. According to folks who know, to this day, he’s still driving the car. Oh, yeah, the proceeds were supposed to go fallen SEALs and their families and apparently never made it to them.
He opened a GoFundMe account and raised more than $10,000 to fix his injured dog – that’s one expensive dog, boy howdy.
The word on the street is that he has scammed Gold Star Mothers and Fathers by sweeping into every crisis situation in the SEAL community. When a SEAL committed suicide last year, the community sent thousands to Zub to help the family out and the money never made it to the family.
You can read about some of Zub’s antics at the Facebook page, The Most Scamming Man in the World as well as the Coronado Clarion.
A couple of folks in the SEAL community have told me that he’s been getting away with this for thirty years – the homeless bum of the SEALs. If you have a Facebook account, you may find that he’s weaseled his way in among your friends. He likes to tell stories of his derring-do, although he’s never deployed, according to folks.
So, if you’re in the San Diego area and run into this guy (he trolls the popular SEAL bars), run away.

Yowzers! A SEAL scammer scumbag!
I’m confused. He may have graduated from BUD/S, but did he earn the 5326 Naval Enlisted Classification (NEC) code? If he earned it, did he have it revoked by COMNAVSPECWARCOM as a result of his expulsion from the Teams ? You still have to earn the NEC to get your trident, which requires more than just graduating BUD/S. If he was expelled from the Teams and his NEC was revoked, he’s no longer a SEAL and shouldn’t refer to himself as one.
Zub graduated BUD/S class 91 in 1977. To my knowledge (based on what Zub has told me) he left the Navy with an Honorable Discharge. He was not “expelled from the Teams” and he did NOT go before a Trident Review Board.
Grampa Blue Falcon.
Why haven’t any SEALs taken him to the tree line?
Hell, why isn’t he in prison?!
And the BFE award goes to…what I WOULDN’T give to run into that guy.
“what I WOULDN’T give to run
intoover that guy.” Just a minor correction, Defend.Rat bastard why hasn’t he been charged and prosecuted for his fraudulent bullshit? Or beaten to a pulp?
I would never, ever advocate violence against any individual but I would certainly understand how someone might give this shitbird a thorough tune-up.
GET A ROPE!
So why isn’t this shitbag in prison? He obviously committed fraud.
I wonder if a motivational call from the esteemed Mr. Fake Hair Shipley would have any effect on his useless ass…
Oh shit. You did it now. You denigrated “The Hair.” That’s blasphemy!
The Hair would laugh at you.
* Need to clarify *
To my knowledge Zub did NOT COLLECT MONEY from the raffle of THIS (red Mazda) car. The charity sold the raffle tickets and collected the money, therefore Zub was not involved with the money. The winner did not want the car and it was agreed Zub would make a $1000 donation to the charity and keep the car. The winner, a retired SEAL Captain who shared this detailed account with me, stated Zub did not make the donation to the charity. Again, Zub did not collect the money for this raffle, most likely ONLY because he was not selling the tickets.
This story may have evolved from another (previous) vehicle raffle in which Zub DID collect money. However, since Zub failed to make the payments on that vehicle prior to the raffle, the vehicle was repo’d … but I do not know the details on that “fundraiser”.
Well that means he stole the car….period!!
I’m having a hard time following this one. If he frequents SEAL hangouts; why hasn’t he received a little wall to wall counseling by now? If his rep is as bad as they say; why would he even hang around where other SEALs would be, since the possibility of getting caught out is increased?
I am an admin at WWW Women Weapons and Warfare.. Zub has scamed many people like us. We were part of the reason he earned 10k for his injured K9. He did everything needed to be a buds graduate. Before the trident. He is a seal like Jessie ventura is a seal. Lol but he has been reached out to by legit seals…He rebuffed them. He was then and is still today a drug abuser. He claims he is homeless. We have the go fund me account numbers. Best to steer clear of him.
Roger that.
As others have commented, this is probably one situation where it should be left to the SEAL community itself to sort out, especially since he’s doing his dirty work right in their home territory.
Who knows, he may be a likable guy who just can’t get the drug monkey off his back so the real deal SEAL’s cut him some slack.
Again, let them sort it out.
They have become exhausted with their numerous attempts to salvage Zub over the years and have decided enough is enough.
This guy is a monumental piece of shit but damn it if that raffle story didn’t make me laugh my ass off. Someone needs to throw this guy a beating ASAP.
Then there’s this guy,,,

July must be a bad month for the SEALs.

Don’t everybody shit a gold brick but, he’s in a FB group I admin…And? terminating his membership.
I met Zub at the National UDT/SEAL Museum Muster in Nov 2012. I will preface this by saying that I am not a SEAL, but was there to demo products as a vendor. Anyway, Don with beer in hand, introduces himself, and hands me a business card for the charity org he’s working with. Cool. I friend him later on Facebook.
Then came the tornados that sacked Oklahoma last year. Because he asked, I sent him a $200 donation so he could make the road trip to help the folks of the OK disaster. He posted pictures of the demolished houses on Facebook, but not once did he post a pic of him doing anything to help out that community. It actually appeared as if he and his son were looting the ruins. As it turns out, myself and others were simply funding a cross country trip that he was making with his son. They ended up in Boston for awhile (not Oklahoma), and eventually returned to San Diego at the end of the summer. Funny, the same red Miata was in those pictures.
Then comes the story about his wounded dog and the fund raiser to help pay for the vet bills. Fortunately, a real SEAL friend of mine tipped me off about the scam before my wife and I sent more money.
This guy may have been a SEAL once upon a time, but now he is a washed-up drunk scammer that can’t keep his shirt on and spout horrible haikus.
I’m going to do my best at the West Coast reunion this year to find out where this asshole is he scammed me my friends and he’s a definite. Disgrace to humanity
I bet Commander Phil Monkress at All-Points Logistics had a poster of this clown in his closet as a kid.
Turd.
Speaking of posters, I think one of those nice printable, downloadable, emailable TAH Wanted Posters would be just the ticket for this clown. Reading the accounts on the FB page was shocking, as low as anything I’ve ever heard of. Well, he’s TAH famous now…
I met Donald Zub a little over a year ago at a Navy Seal’s friends place, at a get together. I’m no SEAL, on my best day with five of me I wouldn’t cut it, I know that. However, I have a tremendous amount of respect and admiration for them and have several that I consider close friends that I see and keep in touch with. This was just after the Oklahoma tornado and he and his son Tommy were passing through and my SEAL friend befriended him as a SEAL and invited him. Yes, likable guy but there was a gut feeling difference between him and my buddy. Again, I’m no SEAL and kept my mouth shut and was just happy to meet someone that had sacrificed for our country. When I found out he was in dire straights I voluntarily (was not asked so don’t feel cheated at all) gave all I had in my wallet, friended him on FB and kept in touch since then. Over time reading the posts my nefarious detector would go off now and then, but, not for me to determine but decided I’d sort of keep my distance and mouth shut. A friend sent the link to this page and my suspicions were correct. I think he’s fighting demons, be it drugs, alcohol, both, who knows and it has the best of him and causes him to do what he’d not normally do. I hope he gets the help he desperately needs. I still can’t help but respect anyone who served, graduated from BUDS and can’t help but wonder what will happen when he sees this page or finds out the gig is up. Perhaps humanity at it’s worse but still someone that needs help. Yes, you’re right, I have no right to post here but did and shared my true experience. While I’m at it thank you to all that have served and sacrificed, it does not go unappreciated, much respect and it motivates me to be more than what I would normally think I am capable of.
I am the wife of the Seal Buddy Terry Alt just posted about. My husband Gary D. Hamilton, a true seal, friended Zub several years before his Oklahoma Tornado trip with his son Tommy. Gary invites veterans to come to our lake house for rehab, as he also suffers from PTSD, and counsels them as best he can to recovery. We invited Zub and his son to come for a weekend of peace and relaxation. We put them up, fed them well, supplied all of the beer, and this is what we were rewarded with…he trashed our camper, jacked off in one of our beds in the house, took off on a joy ride on Gary’s Harley without permission, and left with all of the beer in the beer fridge. Like Terry, Gary and I, and Gary’s brother Mark all gave him money to get back home. Needless to say he is now unfriended, and will not get any more help from us. Not allot of people know that Gary is a Seal, most seals don’t go around promoting that. But we will help any veteran in need, Seal or other, until they are all healed from the trauma they went through. Zub is a disgrace, and yes needs serious help. I pray he seeks healing, and stops using.
I HAVE TO ADMIT HE IS WHO PEOPLE SAY HE IS. TOO BAD. HONOR, AND INTEGRITY ARE BADGES YHAT MAKE UP REAL SEALS AND HE HAS NONE THAT I WITNESSED
I find a lot of what is being said here to be disturbing and specious. Mr. Zub while far from perfect is most certainly not the evil person that he is being made out to be. Easy to attack someone from behind a keyboard. I respectfully find this disgraceful!
GIVE HIM ALL YOUR MONEY THEN
Doug Morosoff: you’re entitled to your opinion. But this guy is apparently a fraudster, a liar, and a scammer using his military past as part of his MO. Most people would consider behavior like that evil.
You apparently don’t. Most people would also agree that tells us a lot about you, too.
I’ll call him out in person should the fat fuck show up in my area.
I guess it’s true what they say – everyone has a sockpuppet friend…too bad.
out.
Extra shitbag.
