Refugees to Fort Drum?

| July 2, 2014

The Fox affiliate WNYF in Watertown, New York is anxiously anticipating that some of the refugees from our southern border might be housed at Fort Drum;

[Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Crosson, spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary of Defense] says it’s too early to tell if Fort Drum will be used, but if it is, the installation and its barracks would not house children until next month.

“We can’t even offer those to Health and Human Services for their consideration until August, until they’re vacant and no longer being used by Army personnel,” he said.

He was unable to release additional information.

According to a classified ad placed by Occupational Health Connections, multiple positions will be available at Fort Drum for registered and licensed practical nurses, doctors and counselors.

“FEMA is gearing up for potential of receiving 500 children up to the age of 17. These are children refugees who are crossing the border to escape drug cartels and will need healthcare,” the ad reads.

The ad says the start date is unknown, but people will probably start after July 4.

I’m not sure how many of you have been to Fort Drum, but I spent two years there. I loved it, but I love to hunt and fish, I’d spent the previous decade in Germany and Vermont so the winters didn’t bother me much. I doubt that any refugees from Central America will be impressed with the isolation and the mind-numbing lack of things to do. Remember the Cuban refugees rioting at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas?

Sixty-two refugees were injured – some by gunfire – and 46 others were arrested. As Arkansas Times reporter Bob Plunkett wrote then: “Before El Domingo (Spanish for ‘Sunday’), the term used by the refugees to refer to the June 1 riot, Fort Chaffee’s only containment barrier was a limp cotton rope draped over a line of sawhorses place around the Cuban housing area.” After the riots, Gov.Bill Clinton and President Jimmy Carter ensured that the lightly fortified camp was turned into a prison, encircled with miles of concertina wire and 2,000 heavily-armed federal troops.

That was after they had been a month. This administration doesn’t seem to have as much on the ball as Governor Bill Clinton and President Jimmy Carter had in 1980, I’m pretty sure any refugees at Fort Drum can plan on months of throwing pine cones at each other (the only way to pass time there).

I should probably add that, if you don’t know it, winters there are brutal. One morning, I woke up to four feet of snow in my driveway – it was March. I’ve seen snow storms on Halloween and on Mothers’ Day. I’m sure they’ll like the first time they see the snow, but for some reason the novelty wears off after that. My marriage to a Central American for the past 37 years gives me a measure of moral authority in the discussion.

It seems cheaper and easier to me to just drive those refugees to the Mexican border and point them south and let Mexico deal with the influx of illegal immigrants. We’ll see if the Mexicans can sparkle from the opportunity.

They aren’t fucking refugees, they are illegal immigrants dumped across our border by parents who believe the hype put out by our Emporor Obama, and facilitated by a corrupt government in Mexico and other South and Central American Governments. Not to mention our own corrupt politicians pushing this idiocy that they are somehow victims of our own making…

The Other Whitey

Amen to that.

A Proud Infidel®™

B. Hussein 0bama & Company seem to be head over heels about making these illegal aliens feel right at home. That, and I’m certain that they’re trying to sow a new crop of democrat voters as well, what else would they continue their assaults on Voter ID Laws?

H1

I believe the time table was thrown off when Canter went down in flames.
Now the administration can’t turn off the flow.
Instead of a humanitarian relief action, it’s an invasion.
Did you see the article about folks blocking buses and the other about scabies ridden line crossers being transported on commercial accommodations?
Doubt there is any decon conducted post trans.

“It seems cheaper and easier to me to just drive those refugees to the mexican border and point them south and let Mexico deal with the influx of illegal immigrants. We’ll see if the Mexicans can sparkle from the opportunity.”

No argument with that option from me.

Mark Olson

They are already being housed on Ft Sill, OK. The local police were tasked by the feds to provide security for the illegals but were told they could not have their sidearms on post while performing this task. They refused to provide support for this. I am in agreemnet with what tc says.

Blaster

I know it sounds very cruel but I can’t help but believe that as a single file line of illegals is crossing the border, that if the first guy in the line gets shot and goes down, the others will turn around. Should only take a few times.

Delilah T.

They’re being flown in on chartered aircraft and driven in on chartered buses, Blaster.

Blaster

I know, But I’m talking about when they first sneak across the border.

BTW, I am not talking about the kids.

Smaj

Nothing like introducing measles, scabies and God knows what else to the North Country. Are soldiers being pushed out of barracks to make room for these people?

A Proud Infidel®™

It wouldn’t surprise me if they were. B. Hussein 0bama & Company look at these illegal aliens and see hordes of future demorat voters, we Vets are nothing less than disposable to them.

Tab

“Insider” here in El Paso, Tx… Dengue fever, scabies, chicken pox, shingles, hepatitis, pink eye… I’ve seen it all these last few weeks.

Ex-PH2

Here are other contagious diseases you need to think about, too.

Mumps
Whooping cough – kids are getting it because parents are afraid to vaccinate their children
Dyphtheria
Tetanus
Polio
Hanta fever – carried by mice in the southwest, lethal

Ex-PH2

Dengue fever is also being found in Hawaii, New York, Florida, Alabama, Ohio, Missouri and Nevada.

I left typhus off that list.

Ex-PH2

Here are some diseases carried by lice:

Bartonella quintana (trench fever, etc.) http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/20/5/13-1242_article.htm

Borellia: http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/19/5/12-1480_article.htm

Yursenia pestis (plague): http://wwwnc.cdc.gov/eid/article/19/3/12-1542_article.htm

Brill-Zinnser disease (epidemic typhus): http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3310116/

Coming to a refugee camp near you. Any questions?

Sparks

Hondo…Thanks…Now I’m happy!!! Quite the article. Our nation under orders from HLS and probably as high as the White House are being deceived and lied to about the threat of these disease potential outbreaks. Just gives you a nice, warm fuzzy feeling knowing Obama is looking after our country. /sarc/

Ex-PH2

Of course they’re under orders to not talk about it or risk arrest. If they leave work and tell everyone just how horrifying it really is, just how long do you think it will be before the mob mentality starts up?
Oh, wait!! The protestors are right at the forefront already, denying these infectious organisms a place to set foot.
So it’s already known in the media, the reports of dengue fever aren’t being squelched by CDC, and these children are crawling – literally – with lice.
No place to put them? NIMBY? Okay, how long do you think it will be until an executive order is dispensed ordering the general population at large – that’s you and me – to take these ‘refugees’ into our homes, and if we don’t, well….?

I do not think my Latino neighbors would take kindly to that, any more than I would.

You think it can’t happen? Wise up now.

Sparks

Refugees…uhm, no. Illegal aliens, yes. So I vote with Jonn. Much cheaper to bus them to the border and point south. Here’s a canteen of water or two. Some MREs for your walk and good luck in your new, or old, homeland of Mexico.

Roger in Republic

Mexico has a less tolerant view of Illegal aliens than we have. The bribes being paid to Mexican Immigration official must be stupendous. That is the only way to explain how all of these people got all the way across Mexico. Mexico has always had tough immigration policies and up until now they enforced the. Perhaps they figure that it’s OK to let them pass since they are not trying to stay in Mexico. I still suspect cartel bribery is driving the lax enforcement effort. That and the cartels are using them for cover to pull the Border Patrol off of their drug smuggling routes.

Climb to Glory

This is exactly the “plan” that I thought this Administration would come up with. I wonder what the base commander and garrison commander think about having another social experiment down their throats and having to deal with the problems that it will cause. By the way, there is an entire Brigade of 10th soldiers at Ft. Polk and there is no room for them. Glad the DOD is on top of things. Great Priorities.

PFM

You know, I really felt for those guys when I drove through their AO – a wonderful CONUS choice of Polk or Drum :).

Roger in Republic

In TENTS at both locations. I vote for the Yuma Proving ground. Lots of room for tents, very hot, dusty, and dry. And close to the border to expedite repatriation. TDY there in the sixties, 130 in the shade, and the lizards followed us around because we were the shade. A month or two sitting there in a tent and they will be lining up to sign voluntary deportation requests. It can’t be inhumane or cruel, the Marines did it all the time.

A Proud Infidel®™

I second your motion, but alas, B.Hussein 0bama & Company see these illegal aliens as future democrat voters, and we Vets are second or third class Dregs in their conceited eyes.

Kinda old ET1

Who would have thought the DREAM act would have a down side? I mean it was a feel good action, you know, think of the children.
Short sighted fools…

Delilah T.

Well, hey! While we’re at it, why not just import some people from Liberia and surrounding states in Africa, where ebola fever now has a 52% death rate, maybe more? And Doctors Without Borders are saying it’s geting out of control there, too.

Some jackass in Murrietta, CA, a protest against a busload of these kids, said ‘we have to show that we take care of our children’.

Sorry, you mind-numbingly stupid bleeding heart, but they are NOT OUR children. They’ve been dumped on the US by the parents, who should be put in jail for that.

If there’s no political conflict in Central America, then why are these kids being dumped on us?

Roger in Republic

Where will they go when Political Conflict erupts in this country?

Delilah T.

Let’s hope back where they came from.

If health care workers are being threatened with arrest for speaking about what is going on, as the Fox News report says, then you have to ask why? Because the people who are perpetrating this crap on US citizens know it’s wrong and don’t want to be held accountable.

This isn’t about creating an ‘army of voters’. It’s naive to think so. There’s something else going on here.

How many of these kids are carrying or harboring TB? How many will test positive for something worse than that? In crowded conditions, diseases like measles not only spread like wildfire, EVEN WITH PREVENTIVE MEDICINE, they can also mutate and become fatal.

The number is 52,000 since October. Many Border Patrol agents are reassigned to processing the illegals, meaning that in some areas, no one is manning the border. Not that it much matters anyway. This is more than a fiasco. It’s criminal. It’s sick. It’s illegal. I do like the idea of dumping the kids in Cal, Conn, Mass, MD, and NY. The liberals think this is such a wonderful idea. They can have them.

Sparks

2/17 Air Cav…I say they should locate 100,000 people who checked, “Donate $1 To The Presidential Campaign” on their taxes and then voted for Obama and send each of them one of these folks to house, feed and provide healthcare and education for…for the rest of the little illegal’s life. No give backs either, they’re YOURS. You support Obama and his agendas so here you go. Have fun and remember, being a soccer parent to a kid who can’t speak English and picks their nose and eats it in public, is just part of the love you liberals want to spread to the whole world. Each kid will come with a CD Single cut of the original, “I’d Like To Buy The World A Coke”, just to make you feel the love all over again. Have fun now!

Climb to Glory

Send these “kids” to VWP house, he seems all about this. Although I suspect he lives in a panel van down by the river. Either way, they can live in squalor again. One sniff of VWP and the sight of his abode they’ll be sprinting back to El Salvador.

Ex-PH2

I expect vwpisspot lives in a cardboard box under a bridge, when he can find one.

flyonthewall

2/17 Air Cav…I live in NY, am NOT a bleeding liberal, did NOT vote for the current POTUS…and I can tell you many people here in UPstate Central NY do NOT want these kids dumped here. We’ve already got a huge refugee settlement of Somalis, Ghananians, Burmese, Bhutanese, etc…this lack of concern for the greater health security of our own citizens is unbelieveable! Do not want these illegal kids in NYS.

Ex-PH2

I’m just going to add this to the discussion:

http://news.msn.com/us/buses-with-migrant-families-rerouted-amid-protest

When you read the article, note that bodaprez thought it was a humanitarian crisis.

Now, usually, when the US addresses humanitarian crises, we send people THERE to deal with them. The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, even the Marines – that is what we’ve done, historically.

WE DON’T BRING THE HUMANITARIAN CRISIS HERE.

Ex-PH2

Sorry about all the CAPS. It’s hard to pound my keyboard loud enough sometimes.

2/17 Air Cav

Let us not overlook Hawaii. It’s one of the states. No airfare. load ’em up on a contaner ship. Or do the illegals also get to pick which state they illegally reside in too?

2/17 Air Cav

Here you go: L and i. You know where they go. Thanks.

flyonthewall

I live 1.5 hrs south of Ft Drum. For what my 2 cents worth is, those Cent Am kids are gonna not like the area for most the year. Doesn’t really start getting decently warm until late June and gets darn chilly by early Sept. That means our resources for clothes and shelter will be severely taxed in providing for our own citizens. Ft Drum will be doing their summer Guard training July 12-26. In 4 short months later, the NYS fair will be operating with many questionable non-indigenous personnel working as carnies. Ft Drum families are NOT pleased about this.

flyonthewall

Oooops…I meant 4 short WEEKS…sorry, brain fart.

The Arctic tundra is starting to look better all the time.

Might as well deploy them to Afghanistan to fill sandbags since we are paying for them anyway.

OWB

When the government willfully admits individuals ill with communicable diseases and then disperses these diseased individuals throughout the country, is it really much of a stretch to conclude that our government is committing biological warfare on the citizenry?

Ex-PH2

Not a bit, OWB. Not a bit.

I thought this was the reason Ellis Island was used to screen out people with transmissible diseases.

Ex-PH2

A little something from Texas, to brighten the holiday: the prospect of suing the Federal government over its approach to illegal aliens is charming.

Here you go:

Just an Old Dog

This is 100% the fault of Obama and the ass-hats that pushed through the dream act and set out the feed bowl.
Anyone who is stupid enough to think that 3rd world governments and their poplulations wouldnt jump on this opportunity like a hobo on a ham sandwich doesn’t deserve to be a janitor in a public building, much less a public official.
For anyone who wants to hear a good take on the health dangers of this recent bum rush on our borders google The Patriot Nurse.
She is pretty conservative and solid as a rock on most issues, and no babe in the woods when it comes to foriegn travel and firearms.

Ex-PH2

It has to be stopped.

The sheer mindlessness of the current (lack of) administration is downright alarming.. If these people are coming from an area with known contagion, harboring dangerous diseases, there is no reason to allow them to even cross the border.

Just an Old Dog

My opinion you get caught crossing the border and you dont have a single shred of evidence that you are a US citizen you should go directly back through that same border. Since Mexico let them through one way, they can send them back the other way. No 3 week long waiting period and making sure you have shots etc. within 24 hours you are gone and Mexicos problem.

Just an Old Dog

One of my college classes I had to sit through a piece of shit documentary called “Wetback” that followed several illegals from central America up to the US border.
They interviewed a few people that ran shelters in Mexico who helped the illegals cross.
Of course it was all the United States fault.

Here are some updates so that you can have a happier Saturday.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/more-undocumented-immigrants-flown-san-diego-n148811

And there are other articles, but many of the illegal aliens are saying that even if they are sent back to their own countries, they won’t stay there.
