Saturday morning feel good stories

| May 17, 2014

Chief Tango sends us our feel good stories today, the first from Florida;

A resident of a South Tallahassee apartment complex shot two individuals during a home invasion robbery Thursday.

While it is unclear the extent of the suspects’ injuries, Tallahassee Police Department Spokesman Scott Beck said the second suspect, who fled the scene but was apprehended later, was injured and was being treated at a local hospital.

Beck said Thursday night he did not have details on the condition of the other suspect. He could not speak to details on what could have caused the incident, but that the residents of the apartment had not been charged with a crime yet.

The next story comes from Las Vegas where cops got the call they usually can only dream about;

It happened at the Donut Hut at 3242 East Desert Inn around 11:15 p.m.

According to the arrest report, the suspect entered the business and demanded money from the patrons and clerks.

During the robbery, the clerk of the store pulled a gun and pointed it at the suspect. The suspect then walked to the clerk and attempted to take the gun.

The owner, along with the clerk and suspect, struggled over the gun. During the struggle, the gun fired, striking the suspect who then ran out of the business with no money.

UMC contacted police about a man who had been shot in the abdomen area, and had driven himself to the hospital. He matched the description of the donut shop suspect.

The third story is yet another story from Detroit;

Police say the man saw people loading what he thought were his belongings into their car outside of the home on Glenwood.

The man was not the homeowner and was renting the home at the time.

When he confronted them, one of the suspects began firing at him. Police say the man pulled out his gun and shot the suspect, who later died at the hospital.

The man was also shot in the leg during the exchange, and is in the hospital in serious condition.

Police say the suspect who was killed was 23 years old, and was with several others at the time.

According to the police chief, the other people who were with the suspect got away, and the department, along with other agencies are stepping up patrols and providing special attention to the corner where the robbery happened.

The suspect then walked to the clerk and attempted to take the gun.

But according to the anti gun people, criminals have magical ninja Powers and can always take your gun away. Did I misunderstand?

That being said, don’t let people like that get so close.

MAJMike

He chose poorly.

Sparks

MAJMike I agree Sir. I would at the most have said, “one more step and I fire”. That’s the last mortal words the guy would have heard.

Bubblehead Ray

I’m with you NR Pax. If you let them get close enough to you that they can try to disarm you, your tactics suck. Otherwise, fine job!

NR Pax

To be fair, there may have been some hesitation because he probably did not believe that he was going to have to shoot the person.

The moment a crook even takes one step toward me after I’ve unholstered my CC Weapon is the moment he/she/it gets ventilated, you NEVER HESITATE in a situation like that!

Richard

It depends. Where I live, the perp has to have the ability to cause great harm or death to me or others in the situation — a weapon of a substantial size advantage. Shouting at me with empty hands is not good enough — unless I am old or small and he is young and big. Stepping toward me while he is holding a weapon IS good enough. It depends.

Just thinking … even if he has empty hands I might aim at his crotch.

re: story 3 – where I live I can use deadly force to defend myself and my family inside my house. Outside, I can use deadly force to defend myself and my family but I cannot use deadly force to defend my property. If fired on or legitimately threatened with death or great harm, I can use deadly force. Until the perp shot at him, he couldn’t shoot back. Once fired on, the adrenalin dump becomes important

MAJMike

Could’ve shot out the tires on the perp’s vehicle, I guess.

Proud, where I live it is so liberal in this state as I wrote above I would have said, “one more step and I fire”. Those would have been the last mortal words the guy heard. But without that, the libtards would be all over the owner for lack of, “fair warning”. Now don’t ask me why you need to give a criminal in the process of committing a crime a “fair warning” but they like that sort of thing. Had I been a customer there with CC…then different story, different outcome. I would not have warned him and he would have had two center mass and if he even wobbled instead of collapsing, then one to his melon.

So let me see if I have this straight:

A twerp walks into a donut shop and demands money from people, and they’re too afraid of him to say ‘NO!’, even though he doesn’t have a visible weapon. Then he tries to take the clerk’s gun away from him and nobody in the shop goes to help the clerk.

Why am I not surprised? Good job on the part of the clerk and owner, but the clerk needs more target practice.

MAJMike

Center of mass, center of mass, center of mass!

Sparks

MAJMike Sir. I’ve said it before I’ll say it again. After range time on a regular basis, it is two center mass and if the perp even wobbles or moans instead of collapsing…then it’s one in his melon.

My grandfather killed an intruder in 1962 with his 10 gauge side by side. Both barrels. He was quite old and sat in his chair with that old long barrel gun propped against the back. When the man entered the room, he fired. His only words were, even to the Sheriff, “there was only a gonna be one story told…mine”.

By the way. For all of you who drool over guns, he had and used on that occasion, an old family relic. An Ethan Allen 10 gauge breechloader. He said his father gave it to him. No I didn’t get it either! It went to my uncle and then to his numbnuts son. If you handed my cousin a screw driver, the first thing he would do is stick himself in the eye with it. Makes me sad today to wonder where the old Ethan Allen is now.

MAJMike

Yup! A couple of .45JHP’s will make quite an impression.
