Ranger Regiment to Honor EOD Soldier

| April 8, 2014

SPC Samuel Crockett, assigned to the 20th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Explosives Command, will be awarded the Silver Star today at For Benning, GA.  He will receive the award for his actions on 5 October 2013 in Zharay District (west of Kandahar), Afghanistan.

He was recommended for the award by personnel from the 75th Ranger Regiment.  Why, you ask?  Read for yourself. You’ll be awed, moved – and incredibly proud of this young man.

Well done, SPC Crockett.  This old soldier salutes you.

SPC Crockett, you’re a Real Man and a Real Warrior!

Old Trooper

I’m trying to figure out how he could move so swiftly with a nutsack the size of Texas weighing him down?

BZ SPC Crockett!

Weapons and equipment change…The men who use them never do.

While I’m happy that SPC Crockett’s battle brothers remember him and praise his actions, I’m also sad for his family at his passing.

OOOPS! I read about SPC Crockett’s award earlier, from another source. For some reason I had it in my nugget that it was posthumous. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa.

OT. I was wondering the same thing, so I poked around and learned that Crockett has been all balls for years. He is from AZ where, in 2010, he was not only a champ high school wrestler but a helluva OL on his football team in Pima where he was named 2nd team all region that year, as a senior. Maybe that doesn’t seem like much–except for this: He wrestled and played football at 5’6″ and 130-135 lbs. Thus, he truly is nothing but heart and balls!

2/17 Air Cav I can’t add more than what you said. Except my own honor and respect for Crockett. Well done soldier, well done!

He didn’t just take the initiative. He owns it.

What a war dog.

They better be pinning some NCO stripes on this kid when they present his Silver Star.

Sparks

nbcguy54 I absolutely agree!

You read about a stud like this who exposes himself to the constant threat of death and dismemberment to make sure that he does not leave anyone behind. Truly the definition of a hero and the epitome of soldierly virtue. If you look up Honor, Courage and Commitment in the dictionary, you would see this young man’s picture!

Then you read about poser fucks like Bernath and the Rotund Ranger and all of their poser brothers and sisters who try to steal the valor of our heroes, both living and dead, and people wonder why we take it so personally.

Well done young soldier. This old jar head is proud to have served in a military that produces young warriors like you. God Bless you, your fellow soldiers and our wounded and fallen and their families.

Boom, Boom Boom Brother, EOD all the way!!

Pinto Nag

I can find no words to comment on the account I just read. God bless and keep this young warrior.

Outstanding!!! This Soldier should never have to buy his own drinks ever again. Too bad the media overlooked this one mostly.
God Bless him, his brothers-in-arms, and the departed.
Mr. and Mrs. Crockett-you have raised one of the finest young men around. Thank you.

How the hell do you work EOD when your balls clank when you walk?

TO

There’re more awards coming for EOD Techs from that incident…a possible DSC, no less.
