Pentagon; social science vs. common defense

| January 2, 2014

The Washington Times‘ Rowan Scarborough speculates today that the Pentagon is paying more attention to social issues in the ranks than with actually being the Defense Department in spirit as well as their name;

The Pentagon under the Obama administration has devoted considerable hours in public and private to sorting out same-sex relationships, the roles of women in the foxhole and ways to stop sexual assaults. Now, another issue has arisen: gender transformation.

The sexual revolution has some traditionalists wondering whether the Pentagon is taking its eye off the ball — the enemy.

“Every conceivable form of PC is being enforced upon our hard-pressed military with a zeal that only a Russian army zampolit — a political officer — would truly appreciate,” said Ken Allard, a retired Army colonel and commentator. “We are seemingly concerned about everything except the most basic thing: how to fight and win the nation’s wars. If we have forgotten that constraint, let me assure you that our enemies have not, from the Taliban to the drug cartels to the Iranian Quds Force.”

Of course, this is nothing new to readers of these pages, but it’s nice that a national media has noticed. I’d also remind readers that the social engineers and political officers have injected themselves into the debate over the role of religion in the ranks, they’ve found a platform for gun control, the military is being used for nearly every social issue in the country – everything except closing with and destroying the enemies of our country. It’s almost as if the enemies of freedom have taken over the military and they’re bent on destroying that combat effectiveness of the force by changing everything that has made the US military a force to be reckoned with globally. And then on top of it all, they’re punishing the people who served with cuts to their pay and benefits, not to mention massive cuts to readiness training and equipment, so the politicians can continue to bribe their constituencies with government handouts. But, no that couldn’t be it, could it?

When I read about the female Army Col. who was in charge of the “Gender Intergration Program ” and was “sacked” for pushing uglier women for recruiting purposes… I could see that the Army is not emphasizing its mission. I think many in the military have lost their minds.

Ya think??

@1, I think a large percentage of those who are making decisions have lost it, and the rest are unfortunately going along to get along…

Myabe if DoD and the people who inhabit that island would pay attention to doing their jobs, i.e., national defense and building an effective fighting force, instead of caving in to the people who think equality means dropping standards, it wouldn’t be an issue.

Oh, what am I saying? The colonel already said that. Sorry. My bad. Just wishful thinking on my part.

Of course, it’s far more important that gays get non-chargeable leave to go wherever to get married, than it is to actually train for what you’re supposed to do. Or, let those in uniform march in gay pride parades. Or, find ways to let Corporal John Smith become Corporal Joan Smith.
#4 is right, a community organizer/social engineer as CiC can’t lead to anything good.

About time someone took notice.

Just too pissed for words! Seems the senior leadership has surrendered their balls to maintain their careers politically. One thinks the smell of ass on their collective upper lips would give them pause to rethink their positions and remember what their real mission is… but I somehow doubt it.

Lefty delusion is about narcissism, consequences be damned. If them indulging in their silliness results in reduced military readiness, well, they had the best of intentions and that’s all that matters (to them).

They-and their precious little snowflakes-are not the ones who will pay the price in any event, so no worries.

Elect loony lefties to public office, suffer lefty delusions-I tried to explain this to people a few years ago to people who should have known better, but I should have saved my breath.

Senior leadership in the Pentagon and Dod have put their balls in Michelle’s purse. Only to be taken out and used when the Obama’s need them. We have no leader in the White House. But that has happened before and is no excuse for military leadership to surrender their voices and power to do their duty. Only one thing will come of this continued process of using the military as a lab project for the liberal left. Lives will be lost. This nation is on a path of destruction from within and it is a fearful thing to watch. I hope with all my heart the administration does not get us into a conflict in the Pacific Rim. My viewpoint has changed about America in the world. I am becoming an isolationist. I do not think we can be the police of the world any longer. I am for defending ourselves at home and abroad. But to me that means we WILL reach out to wherever the threat is, with our technology and drop a big nasty hammer on it until it is rubble. Then go home. I am tired of lives lost and blood spilled for half assed campaigns that start out with honorable goals then quickly have no end game and ROE that kill Americans. I am an absolute believer that peace cannot be brought to Muslim nations. They have for centuries and will continue to kill one another over their intolerance for different beliefs. I say let them. Keep America out of their conflicts and let them clean up their own countries if they choose to want freedom. If they export their terrorism toward American people or interests anywhere, then out and down comes the hammer. Many nations in the world have a f@ck America attitude. It is time we had the same towards them.

I think the problem is ne of information lack: that is, not knowing that the full name is “Department of Defense of Political Correctness and Social Experimentation via Mlitary Subjects”

Sustainer

August 2014, MRD. 32 years. Perfect time to retire………What has happened to my beloved Army?

Hondo

Best I can figure, Sustainer, most of the seniors in uniform in the “5-sided asylum” forgot they were military leaders and became politicians instead.

That’s not all that went wrong. But IMO it’s the root cause.

Question from a non-veteran: Ignoring the massive psychological problems involved in thinking that highly invasive surgery is the cure for self-image issues, wouldn’t the surgery itself be enough to medically disqualify someone from serving? We are talking about an awful lot of cutting, here.
