Stolen Valor in the Thai Army
Chief Tango sends us a link to Kaosod English about a private in the Thai Army who tried to get out of his bar tab by wearing a General’s uniform;
Ms. Orn-Uma Sukkasem, 57, the owner of Tukta Cafe and Karaoke Bar in Nonthaburi Province, told the police that Pvt. Chatchai Sribung-ngaw, 21, had been drinking and eating at her bar on the night of 19 September. He also reportedly summoned a waitress to drink with him.
When Ms. Orn-Uma?s bar closed down after midnight, she presented a bill of 1,800 baht to Pvt. Chatchai, who reportedly complained the price was too high. Ms. Orn-Uma said she agreed to give him a discount of 500 baht, but Pvt. Chatchai still refused to pay the bill.
The Private eventually walked to his van in the parking lot, and came back dressed as a Lieutenant General. He threatened Ms. Orn-Uma that he would have her business closed down for good, according to the owner. She called police soon afterwards.
The police busted him when he told them that he was actually a captain, and that the uniform belonged to his father. After they discovered that uniform belonged to a real general who wasn’t he father, he couldn’t give his cadet class number to prove he was a captain. Turns out that he was the general’s driver.

Well, at least he wasn’t a name dropper.
This reminds me of the time when I was in Thailand and after a long night of drinking with a “buy me drinky girl” … nah … maybe I should not tell this strory!
Wow…
Thai-seasoned turd.
Or as they would say: ??
Yeah, heh, they love him long time.
You do realize that the general is going to be pissed that a) his driver was arrested and b) his dry cleaning has been confiscated as evidence.
At Flagwaver … NICE!
That joke was stairing me right in the face and I did not even see it!
I have been told by a fellow Marine, so you know that it comes from reliable source, that a LCpl from 7th Comm Bn (my unit) was tagging a Thai General’s wife. When the command heard about it, he was immediately placed on a plane back to Okinawa so that he would fall victim to a random Thai traffic accident.
That was during one of the Cobra Gold exercises during the 1990’s.
Yeah, that was his last night out. Soon, it will be lights out for him.
LOL click on the picture and look at the guy near the van. He is trying to hold back the laughter on this poor idiot.
Private Sum Ting Wong
All that to get out of a $60 bar tab that momma-san knocked down to just over $40?
I mean yeah, Thailand was pretty inexpensive, but if you can’t come up with that…
Is Phildo expanding APL internationally?
This is the type of individual that I could see Phildo bringing into the fold (with a clearance, of course).
@12
Hey, the private is very frugal. Just wanted to save some money for once.
“Turns out that he was the general’s driver…” 1,800 baht says he has been reassigned…
JAL67: ain’t taking that bet.
Dang, Green Thumb, you beat me to the punch. I was planning on saying that Chatchai Sribung-ngaw is now the regional director of the All Points Logistics Southeast Asia region. Of course, Paul would do a periodic visit to check out the operations. that would be the operations on the ladyboys.
