Alex Minsky; wounded Marine & underwear model

| June 19, 2013

In 2009, Marine Alex Minsky lost his leg to roadside bomb in Afghanistan. He was in a coma for nearly two months and fought his way back upright. Then understandably, turned to alcohol and fought his way back from that, too. From ABC News;

“I was down,” the Calif.-based Minsky told ABC News. “I was numb and I was running away from everything…especially myself, my own head.”

Minsky suffered from depression and turned to alcohol to cope until he decided to fight back by stopping drinking and starting to work out.

“I didn’t want to run anymore,” he said. “I wanted to face my problems instead.”

It was at the gym that Minsky got his big break when he was spotted by a photographer.

“He approached me and said, ‘Have you ever modeled? Like what are you? What are you doing?'” Minsky recalled.

So now he’s an underwear model and he wants to be a role model for other victims of trauma. Thanks to Andy and Ex-PH2 for the links.

Oh YEAH!!! He’s ridiculously hot! Outrageously so.

In a masculine, yummy way, VERY UNLIKE the metrosexual, overly tattooed David Beckham.

Mike

Well I’m glad he’s doing good for himself.

PintoNag

They didn’t build ’em — or decorate ’em — like that when I was that age. I’m sure I would have noticed! 😉

PintoNag

On a more serious note, though…this young warrior’s battle continued after that IED exploded; he’s fought one hell of a fight, and I wish him all the best.

Susan

I wish they didn’t decorate them like that now. Maybe I am too old, but he would be way hotter without the tats.

Dave

And in a related story, a 24-year-old U.S. Marine was rescued last night after nearly drowning in a sea of poon.

Nicki

LMAO!!!!!! #6 – I think given his severe hotness, he’s probably learned to swim in it already.

Susan, he’s actually strictly not MY type, but I can appreciate the yumminess. And oh, goodness, it’s yummy!!!

PintoNag

I wonder, has anybody ever swooned on a blog before?

marine86wm

Swoon!! He is a cutie and good for him. I wish him the best of luck. And he does have a hotness factor of +10….sigh I wish I was 25 years younger. LOL

PintoNag

Lordy, the poor boy hasn’t been thrown to the lions here — he’s been thrown to the COUGARS!

pete

hey,,the young man earned his dues, why not celebrate and embrace his new life. i just hope he maintains a level head and does not become infected by hollyweird!

LebbenB

Good on him. It’s good work if you can get it.

Ex-PH2

I thought it was a nice, positivie story… one that all of us can appreciate, especially with some of the less savory people we see so often.

I assure you the pictures had absolutely nothing to do with it.. 🙂

Heidi

Good for him, having been thru what he has been thru, but he is no more than a little eye candy, if I was younger maybe, but nah. Like the boxer Mikkel Kessler better. #1 Beckham, bah, I could make a list of soccer players better than him in so many ways.

Taylor

Yes. Just YES. That, tattoos and all… is a role model. His massive hotness doesn’t hurt at all.

OWB

Good for him! May he continue to thrive.

No, not gonna go back and look at the pics again. Nu-huh. Well, maybe.

Ladies……..clam your tits.

Ex-PH2

@17 — CLAM? CLAM? What?

That’s inspired, FC!

Andy

lol, maybe he meant “calm”?

pete

@ 19,,,or perhaps clamp?? lol

Ex-PH2

Typos are sometimes like brain spasms: you meant one thing, you said another. 🙂

Old Trooper

I watched another video with him, before seeing this one and you can tell he’s dealing with the effects of TBI (a friends hummer was hit by an IED in Iraq and he, also, got his bran scrambled). I hope he has nothing but success in his future. In the other video, they talk about the scars from his burns and maybe some of the tats are to cover some of that up, because they did a closeup of his right arm and you could see a little of the scarring above one of his tats.

Ex-PH2

I think he should have all the support we can give him as a group. Anyone who has that kind of injury and puts himself into a public light should get positive feedback, period.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.) Not Ghey .... Really

Outstanding …. he is SO hot!

Good for this Marine and those he inspires!

Hondo

I’ll leave it to the ladies to evaluate the guy’s “hotness” factor – I can’t. But he is what would be considered a handsome guy, of athletic build, and in great shape. That’s obvious to anyone.

Keep on keepin’ on, fella.

Jeremy B. Manning

We are so grateful to have Alex in our lives and extremely happy for his growing success. He’s so down to Earth is hard to believe how high he’s soaring right now.

Sparks

I am proud of Alex Minsky. Way to turn your life around after all you went through. I hope a lot of others can take hope from his accomplishments.
