Memorial Day
No, its not “Happy Memorial Day”, it’s just Memorial Day. Ex PH-2 sends us a screen shot of SSG Tim Chambers and the way he remembers the fallen and supports the living who remember at Rolling Thunder yesterday;

And there’s the Lee Brice song, “I Drive Your Truck”, that celebrates how Paul Monti remembers his son Jared Monti;

As Gold Star Dad, Robert Stokely says: It is a day to “Remember With Honor”.. Period…
My Club and I were there yesterday. SSG Chambers has our utmost respect for what he does and it was an honor to meet him
Can I get an assist here? I was at Arlington this afternoon, and near the marker for my friend’s father, there was a marker for a Marine, with PH and GS. Obviously, PH is Purple Heart, but I have no idea what GS stands for. The Marine was a Vietnam vet, if that helps.
Chambers was going strong when I rode by, some Army PFC that was trying to duplicate the feat was not. When I rode by, he had people helping hold his arm, Chambers was a rock. When i walked by later to get to the metro, the PFC had abandoned saluting entirely, and Chambers was still a rock.
I rode through around 1:30 isn/. 6+ hours in the parking lot, 20 minute ride.
I’ve seen video of Chambers in a past year, that ain’t easy. I hope that the PFC gets in better shape before he tries again, I’d like to give him an “E” for effort!

One of these days, I’ll get out there.
If they ever tell my story, let them say I walked with giants.
Men rise and fall like winter wheat, but their names will never die.
Let them say I walked with Warriors.
Let them say I lived in the time of Heroes.
A friend asked me, when I explained why I dislike people saying ‘Happy’ Memorial Day, what I thought should be said instead. I gave it some thought, and I came up with this:
It’s always hard, thinking of things to say on Memorial Day. ‘Thank you’ just doesn’t seem to express enough. Two words can hardly compare to a persons life, much less the hundreds of thousands who sacrificed everything for the nation we have today. Two words can do little to console a tear-stricken family, to comfort a grieving friend, to mourn a fallen brother. But those two words are a start.
Thank you, for giving me a chance to go to school. Thank you, for giving me a place to live. Thank you, for giving me freedom. Thank you, for giving me the chance to serve as you did. Thank you, for the lives you saved. Thank you, for the years you lost. Thank you, for your service.
And most of all, thank you for your sacrifice.
You’ve done your part, and you’ve done it well. Rest easy, and let us take it from here.
Thank you all.
Yeah that PFC was hurting. We were trying to help as much as possible, offering encouragement and whatnot. TSO I had no idea you rode! We ought to get together and ride sometime
