Happy Birthday Marine Corps
237 years ago today the Naval Committee of the Continental Congress was directed to raise two battalions of Marines, and so we got the naval infantry. So Happy Birthday, Marine Corps. From the Halls of Montezuma to shores of Tripoli. From the peak of Suribachi to the alleyways of Fallujah.

Happy Birthday Marines….Semper Fi. Semper !
I posted this comment over at Blackfive a couple of days ago:
I was drafted on 10 Nov 66. The rumor floating the halls in Ft. Hamilton that day was that a big ugly old Marine Drill Sergeant was going to pick one out of every third draftee in a line up so that they could meet their recruitment quotas. We never saw that Marine, but we did hear of others that found their way into the Corps in that manner.
I can remember being very relieved back then – but as I look back now, I would have been proud to call myself a Marine.
Happy Birthday Marines!
Happy Birthday, you guys.
As I posted elsewhere: Born in a tavern, paid for by the Navy, equipment stolen from the Army and yet we’re still here.
Id say we look pretty dapper for being 237 years old.
“There are many reasons why the United States of America has the greatest military in the world. And close to the top of the list (or at the top) is the United States Marine Corps.”
MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)
“The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!”
Eleanor Roosevelt, First Lady of the United States, 1945
Happy Birthday
*insert Marine joke here*
Your elder brothers-in-arms in the US Army send you youngsters in the USMC best wishes on your birthday. (smile)
How the hell was I-95 allowed to build over the site of Tun Tavern?
To my Brothers, Semper Fi! To everyone else, thanks for your best wishes. 237 years old and still chuggin’ along!:)
