Taliban complains about media bias

| October 18, 2012

Apparently, shooting a 14-year-old girl in the face isn’t the big publicity coup that the Taliban was hoping for, according to the Atlantic Wire. They think the media is focusing too much on the “shooting her in the face” part and not enough on the fact that she was anti-Islamic;

Yesterday, local paper The News International gave voice to the Taliban’s pathetic complaints of bias, which offered a rare window into terrorist media criticism. TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan said his group would “continue to respect journalists” except for highly biased outlets. The spokesman for another Taliban insurgent group, Sirajuddin Ahmad of Maulana Fazlullah, spoke at greater length:

He said media provided an opportunity to all those people who were opposed to the Taliban and their activities and used insulting language against them on media. “Right from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to Hillary Clinton and President Obama, all of them used whatever bad language and words they could use on the media but when we tried to reply to them, no media organisation was willing to give us importance. The media is not even allowed to use the real name for Maulana Fazlullah but calling him derogatory names like Mulla Radio,” Sirajuddin complained, but refused to admit that they planned attacks on the media.

Yeah, I thought it was The Duffel Blog at first, too.

Meanwhile, their victim has been moved to a UK hospital and seems to be improving, according to the International Business Times. Angelina Jolie writes in The Daily Beast that “We all are Malala”.

Awwwwww! Realllly?

Do you think they got their feelings hurt?

Looks like the bully doesn’t like being bullied.

Poor guys, I hope the administration sends someone to apologize immediately!

They’re on it. Tom6400. I hear that obama is calling for a more balanced approach to the Taliban murder, gang rape, torture, mutilation, stoning and beheading stories. If only we try harder as a people to see the world through the Taliban’s lens. (Of course, the lens sports crosshairs and anyone, male, female, adult, or child who sees things differently is in those crosshairs.) I can only imagine what his take would be if he could figure out a way to get the terrorists to register to vote–well, in addition to the ones in Jersey and Michigan, that is.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

US Ambassador to the UN Susan Rice just came out with a statement:

“The United States of America recognizes that the Taliban did not intend to shoot her in the face. Typically the Taliban prefers to shoot you in the back of the head. We abhor any criticism of Islam and respect the Taliban’s view.
Further, we believe she was shot in the face because of a video that no one saw and not because this was an act of terrorism.”

SATIRIST NOTE: I wish for this brave young girl to recover completely and to continue her work as a world class leader!

MCPO, Obama chimed in with “I did so call it an act of terror, therefore, whatever I said about the film, I didn’t say. Neither did Susan Rice, however it was Hillary’s fault, she’ll hold a press conference shortly, in Antarctica, to take responsibility”.
Same heartfelt wishes for the young lady’s full recovery.

Well if the Taliban heads would be kind enough to give us an address, I say we send 2MarDiv out for an “apology tour”. As in “I’m sorry I shot you 30 times, but that’s all the magazine holds”.

That said, brave girl. Obviously didn’t deserve it. Hope she does well.

CENTCOM chief Gen James Mattis’s career almost came to an end years ago when he quipped:

“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually, it’s a lot of fun to fight. You know, it’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right upfront with you, I like brawling”

Yep, in a moment of rare political incorrectness, he was expressing what soldiers and Marines were feeling…

If they can wait until January 20th, they can probably find plenty of media figures eager to give them “importance”.

Obama was very clear that this was not terror or a hate crime, it was simply “unrequested, high-velocity cosmetic surgery”. Shortly thereafter, he convened a committee to discuss unspecified topics for an indefinite period of time while accusing the 1% of serving orphan foie gras at a Romney fund raiser.

Gee, it’s a shame that they don’t like being criticized for murdering people, or trying to.

And I don’t care whether they like it or not.

I do care that Malala gets well and goes on to do wonderful things with her life.

Ex-PH2

First of all, Malala is now able to stand up and while she can’t talk because of a tube in her throat, she can write clearly. May she have a long and very fruitful, positive life.

It’s just a cotton pickin’ shame the Taliban can’t see which finger I’m holding up.

Moments of political incorrectness are hardly rare for the
Warrior Monk. He says what’s on his mind and doesn’t give a shit who he offends.

Here’s one of my favorite:

“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fuck with me, I’ll kill you all.”

Bet he’d like to get his hands on those pieces of shit that shot Malala.

@12
Sounds like a good candidate to replace GEN Weasel Dempsey as CJCS – I think he’s related to GEN Weasley Clark. Heck another good candidate would be GEN Carter Ham for CJCS.

This is no shit. It is NOT a fairy tale, either.

I was on my way home from the grocery store this afternoon, listening to NPR (national public radio) instead of the classical station — choosing between screeching tenors and the news, you see.

The reporter was doing a telephone interview with a Pakistani journalist who confirmed that the Taliban, unhappy with the unexpectedly bad publicity they have received for their attempted murder of young Malala, as well the widespread sympathy that she has received, have announced that they will now target journalists.

This is not a joke. Here are links:

http://www.cnn.com/2012/10/19/world/asia/pakistan-taliban-media-threat/index.html

The Pakistani journalist told the NPR reporter that he and his family are extremely stressed because they do not know which direction the threats are coming from.

This is the most darkly funny thing I have EVER heard of in my life.

Maybe someone should tell the Taliban that they are the stupidest, most dimwitted things on the planet, dumber than warts on a cast iron frying pan.
