Taliban threatens Code Pink group traveling to Pakistan. (Updated)

| October 7, 2012

Some of you may or may not know but it seems that Code Pink is sending a thirty plus group to Pakistan to join a protest at the use of drones in a areas suspected of hiding Taliban groups. Also photos from them suggest that they are already have arrived.

Today the full CODEPINK delegation to Pakistan will arrive in Islamabad to begin a week of activities to express their opposition to US drone strikes in Pakistan. A pre-delegation group of American activists has been on the ground in Pakistan for several days meeting with think tanks, human rights organizations, and military and academic institutions.

The response from Pakistanis has been overwhelmingly positive and welcoming, and many plan to join the CODEPINK contingent as it marches to South Waziristan to protest US drone strikes on October 7th. “We are already receiving an outpouring of support from Pakistani people who are heartened to learn that there are Americans with a conscience who are willing to come all the way to Pakistan to show solidarity and apologize for the drone strikes that have brought so much death and destruction to the impoverished people of north Pakistan,” said CODEPINK cofounder and delegation leader Medea Benjamin.

Well not everyone is feeling the love. Nor the idea of a peace parade through Pakistan.

U.S. diplomats Friday warned a group of American peace activists not to attend a rally against U.S. missile strikes scheduled for this weekend, saying terrorists have threatened to attack the demonstration.

Separately, the Pakistani Taliban warned Friday that they oppose the rally, which is being led by Imran Khan, an internationally famous cricket player who has become one of Pakistan’s most popular opposition politicians largely on the basis of his outspoken criticism of the U.S. role in Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The demonstration, which has been organized by Khan’s political party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, is scheduled to leave Islamabad Saturday and hopes to enter South Waziristan, part of the militant-plagued tribal area that is considered a no-go zone, on Sunday as a protest against the use of unmanned drones to attack suspected al Qaida and Taliban militants.

What will happen in the next few days is anyone’s guess, but I have a feeling that this could end badly since the Taliban is threatening to bomb the protest.

On Saturday, a statement from a Taliban faction said to be based in Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province warned that militants would welcome the protesters with suicide bombings.

“We ask the brave people of Waziristan not to side with the gang of Jews and Christians – otherwise their fate will be terrible,” the Punjabi Taliban said in the statement.

UPDATE: It seems that they have been spotted and interviewed by CNN in Pakistan.

Quite possibly the first time I am cheering for the Taliban. Wow, never thought that would happen…

NSOM

Damn you Sporkmaster, you beat me to it.

Look how excited Dianne Budd is. Excited. It’s a rush, man.

These flaccid losers are even more pointedly put in context after I (finally) read Christopher Hitchen’s memoir. Congrats on your historical legacy being YouTube, ladies. You’re all scum and adolescent fools. One is redeemable, the other is not.

Media and cohorts will most likely not be anywhere near the march once its underway. I think Codepinko’s will already have an escape plan and someone in place to get them out of there quickly before SHTF like they did in Egypt (the Egyptian Army got them to safety) and Libya. They want revolution but they don’t want to stick around and run with the big dogs…

NR Pax

In all honesty, I don’t see what the Taliban is so upset about. Code Pink is on their side. Why kill off allies?

James

Pure ignorant foolishness meets pure ignorant evil. There is a strange symmetry to it.

Richard

Bomb CodePink? I fail to see a downside…

AW1 Tim

The Taliban have two aims here.

1.) THEY want to be the ones calling the shots, and these protesters (local) and Code Pink are a threat to that power base. It shows the locals that, perhaps they to can speak their minds.

2.) These women from Code Pink are a threat because they are acting independently, without husbands, fathers, brothers, running their lives. They also aren’t wearing burkas, hijabs, etc. The Taliban cannot tolerate such a thing as an independent-minded female.

I expect there to be some bloody business, and that sooner rather than later. However, as stated above, I can’t see any downside to this situation, at least as regarding Code Pink.

Ex-PH2

If it weren’t winter over there (and if I could stop giggling), I would suggest they march in beachwear and flipflops. Just as a statement, you understand.

Still can’t stop giggling.

Frankly Opinionated

Will they wear their vagina costumes, to really show the goat rapers where they stand? That would be the best way to make a statement of their view, wouldn’t it?

Frankly Opinionated

I am getting pretty damned tough- I just watched the video all the way through, and didn’t even gag; well maybe a little.

Heh-the poster of Imran Khan behind Medea Benjamin inspired me to google him (I thought I had heard of him as a pro-Taliban former cricketer, and that’s more or less true, but not the whole story) and his wikipedia page says in part: Pakistan’s Newsline magazine gave Khan the “Paris Hilton award for being the most undeserving media darling.” The ‘citation’ for Khan read: “He is the leader of a party that is the proud holder of one National Assembly seat (and) gets media coverage inversely proportional to his political influence.” The Guardian has described the coverage garnered by Khan’s post-retirement activities in England, where he made his name as a cricket star and a night-club regular, as “terrible tosh, with danger attached. It turns a great (and greatly miserable) Third World nation into a gossip-column annexe. We may all choke on such frivolity.

We may all choke on such frivolity-sounds like it was perfectly natural for him and code pink to find each other-birds of a feather.

It was all Bush, Bush, Bush who was the object of their scorn. As soon as Obama took office, their target became the US government, government, government. Gee, I wonder why.

I also wonder whether these folks care what danger they are putting others in by their presence there. They have chosen to be where they are against the sage advice of those who care about them. If they are attacked, instead of becoming martyrs for their cause, they may become the grounds for retaliatory strikes and more killing. At least the monks who self-immolated in other times and other places put no one else at risk in making their points.

OWB

Oh, the irony of it all.

Too bad that whatever they do and whatever is the reaction to it that they quite literally will cause people to die as a result. Fools of the highest order who have no regard for the pain and suffering that they cause.

Green Thumb

They will talk shit about the US but will beg for help when between a rock and a hard place.

NR Pax

@14, sort of like when Code Pink was protesting the Marine Officer Recruiting Station in Berkeley. They were anti-Marine until someone threw debris at them and then they were asking them for help.

Meanwhile, I’m still debating if letting the Taliban capture them could be considered a war crime.

Kato811

I really do not see a problem here. There expendable

Ex-PH2

@15 War crime? Nah. But on the other hand, do you think the Taliban would really want to keep them very long? They might pay us to take them away.

JP

What? You mean the Taliban goat ropers don’t want to get all warm and fuzzy with the Code Stink hippies???

Shocker!

NHSparky

Ya know, this whole thing just screams for a post on The Duffel Blog, but even they’re probably thinking, “Naw, that shit’s too easy.”

Ex-PH2

JP, it’s not goat ropers. Goat ropers are young children who want to be calf ropers and bull riders in the Professional Cowboys Rodeo Association (PRCA). They start out roping goats and riding sheep for prize money and tropies at rodeos.

The indigenous farmers of that area are goat RAPERS.

And, as I saw on “Bomb Patrol Afghanistan”, they don’t feed the donkeys so the donkeys eat C4 left by the EOD teams.

Hack Stone

Anyone else think it would be ironic if they are held hostage and need to be rescued by the U.S. military?

Susan

I will be beyond pissed if even one US military member is put in harms way to rescue these idiots. When one is in a foreign land protesting the US military, one is not entitles to its assistance when the shtf!

MCPO Bama Foan

@ Sporkmaster

We called this immdiately what is truly was when we founnd out what they were attempting to do: a suicide mission. There were several posts 2 weeks ago on this wonderous and ill-fated family vacation.

Now no one wishes harm to any American abroad, even if they are complete loons, however this is not going to turn out well. Something, hopefully just a minor incident, is going to scare the living Jesus Christ His Holy Almighty out of these fools. Let’s just hope a international incident is not caused by their obvious dumbfu*kerynessisms.

Now back to a more important and bigger picture. I believe Jonn, TSO, Hondo, Sprokmaster and the entire contribruting crew of TAH needs to be congratulated. TAH casts a broad net, the quality and content of TAH is oustanding (everything from funny as sh*t to shut up and listen closely), TAH has gone viral, TAH is internationally respected and read by many, hell it is even quoted by the MSM. But what I find instrersting is the folks that we object to most, our determined enemies overseas and the lefties socialist commie rat bastards here at home recieve most of their press in forums like this. I also suspect they use these forums for intelligence.

So have a great trip you dumbfu*king bucketsucking commie preack

MCPO SPEW CONTINUED

So have a great trip you dumbfu*king bucketsucking commie preaching no force protection travelling anti war spewing running for your lives vacationing wish I brought at a knife worrying calling out for mommy crying thinking of sweet childhood memories IDIOTS!

Smaj

Frankly, I hope every one of these traitors meet horrible, painful deaths over there.

MCPO SPEW CONTINUED

@ 25 I do not share your opinion but I CERTAINLY appreciate it!

Common Sense

@ 22 – my thoughts exactly.

they’ve been told that South Waziristan is no go. That means enter at your own risk and that there will be NO rescue if it goes bad. And it sounds like it WILL go bad.

SEAhorse

Ive been hanging around here for awhile and greatly enjoy the site. Ive never felt the need to comment but this is just crazy. Im actually on my way back to the states from Paktia Province where I served as a Squad Leader (Airborne Infantry). Not going into too much detail I did alot of work around the border with Pakistan. These protesters will absolutely get themselves killed. The local nationals there are truely some of the worst of the worst. i wouldnt go there with anything less then a Company sized element, much less a bunch of untrained, ignorant hippies who truely have no grasp of reality in a Muslim extremist AO. Good Luck.

idaho2run

By all means, go ahead. The Taliban are just spouting off. They would never do anything to harm civilians.
And they love pushy ugly lesbians.
Suicide bombers? A few less ass clowns carrying explosives and several dead ignorant tool liberal scum.
Win win.

streetsweeper

SEAhorse, there is no reason or rhyme to CODEPink’s continual efforts at making the USA a lesser country. If indeed, that region is to be their “waterloo”, then so be it. The short of it is, they nothing but communist punks and maybe if Joe “goat roper” Taliban decides to over run them it could be a win-win situation. Oh wait, that’d be *sick & twisted* of me to wish harm upon their worthless carcasses…

Ex-PH2

@21 – Hack, if those obnoxious old bats get taken hostage in hostile territory, when they’ve been warned it’s bad country, they should be told “tough bananas, bitches, you were warned”. They need to have it pounded into them that they are on their own and NO ONE will come to rescue them.

All these idiot histrionics, from these ridiculous women to the most recent moron on the block (Turner) are only doing these things to get attention for themselves. Take the so-called cause away, and what’s left? Baking cookies? Making quilts? Walking dogs?

Goldurn it, they just won’t have anything else that will generate that kind of attention. And, in closing, I have some personal doubts about just how sincere they really are, based on comment @15-NR Pax.

I’ll be curious to see how this ends up.

Roger in Republic

With all of the pink they will be wearing it should be easy for the Predator to pick them out in the crowd they will surly draw. Loose the hellfires and let god sort them out.

Frankly Opinionated

While Bowe Bergdahl languishes in captivity, I wonder how much money the Teleprompter-in-Chief will cough up to pay a ransom to get these wenches back from the Taliban? I would think that an American citizen, loosely guarded, would make a very tempting kidnap item.

Ex-PH2

Well, Frank, if that should come up, there is enough networking going on in milblogs to set up a loud howling protest in the media against ransoming those silly women, when they were told NOT TO GO IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Ex-PH2

It’s 6:30CDT. I’m watching ’60 Minutes’ on CBS, GEN Allen is saying that al Qaeda is in Pakistan with the blessing of the government, and has complete freedom to do whatever they want to.

MCPO NYC USN (Ret.)

Thank you GEN Allen for the news flash … now we know who do blame.

Frankly Opinionated

WOW, Batman, CBS leaked that highly classified info. Who’d athunkit, the Pakistani Gummint in bed with the bad guys. WOW what a news flash. NOT!

Tom6400

Any updates? Has CodePink group-hugged any suicide bombers yet?

Tom6400

They said they were ready to die for the cause, but they dropped out of the march. The rest of the marchers were stopped by the army before they hit Waziristan.
