Twist-sure, just thought I’d offer you the chance to see what the bad blood is about.
FWIW-I was a treatment team leader for a company in an area support medical battalion in Iraq and Kuwait in 2003-04, the forward aid station team leader (essentially the ambulance boss) for an armored Cav squadron at FOB Bernstein in 2004-05, the medical operations NCO in an Engineer Brigade at JBB from 2009-10 and the medical operations NCO for a sustainment brigade in 2011. If TSO or Hondo or one of the other moderators want to see my paperwork, I will be glad to send it in.
I was also an OC/T for two years and a graduate of the OC/T academy, which is why situations like this are interesting to me.

You want to go digging don’t you. I think you are an idiot 68 plain and simple. There is nothing more I can say, what you want to point out that I can be testy and I don’t suffer your stupidity very well? Duh I could tell you that. Hence why I avoid getting into discussions with you. The fact that you want to be critical of his actions based on this little evidence does piss me off. The fact that you hang all of your arguments on one data set is annoying. The fact that you like to ride a high horse and say well I never lose my composure while he always does is annoying. Hell I would rather argue with insipid than you at least it doesn’t pretend.

I’m really trying hard not to Monday morning quarterback because each combat situation is different, but please tell me he didn’t put his weapon on the fucking ground while sorting through which pouch he wanted to put his magazines in.

Jason-shine on you crazy diamond. I’m perfectly willing to let others judge me by what I’ve said here and I think I’ve been pretty judicious in trying to assess what we can see in the video. I was perfectly willing to respect your insights until you accused me of some ulterior motive. Think what you want of me, but I’m still in the fight and I still have a responsibility to give my soldiers the best guidance I can to prepare them for combat. I thought that this video might have some value in that regard and I wanted to see if I could get some critical assessment of it on a forum where I know professional soldiers congregate-that’s what professionals do, especially NCOs. Some of those soldiers have done that and I think I have a better perspective of what happened and the value of this video as a training aid. If you got your nose out of joint about that, that’s your problem

I think you would be better served reading medical journals and keeping up with infection control.

Jason-I probably should, it’s entirely possible that you’ll be one of my patients in the future (damnit boy, don’t leave yourself open like that).

I’ll say two things about this discussion.
The first thing is that the youngster does indeed have balls, large, brass, 2 ea.
The second is that I have to disagree with TSO. In my book, getting shot at like that and being able to walk away with no significant injuries is a very good day.
Seems to me that Someone was looking out for this young man.

My question re Basis of Issue for the helmet cams has been buried in the urinary contest. I wondered who got these cams and the rationale. Are they common place? I opined that they could be used, adversely, for ROE investigations. Kinda like LEO’s were excited with dash cams because they could show The Judge what the dummy did. But then, they also showed when the LEO decided a hickory shampoo was called for…like here, the big picture wasn’t available.

SJ, I agree that you had a valid question. Was kinda hoping that you would get an answer – it sounded pretty interesting. OTOT, I was sort of afraid that this might not have been an “official” video and someone might get into trouble for publishing it?

The sharp cracks of incoming small arms fire– nothing like it in the world and if you’ve ever been on the receiving end, you don’t ever want to hear it again.
Didn’t make it through the whole vid for that reason, but glad he’s OK

@SJ-I know as of my last deployment, 2009, the helmet cams were not being issued. Individual Soldiers would buy them with their own money. I had a couple Soldiers do this. If they are being issued now, then it is fairly new.
