Dave Groves…surprise…hires lawyer
Kristen Moulton of the Salt lake City Tribune writes that the phony POW we discussed the other day, Dave Groves is compounding his fakery by bringing a shyster into the mix and making his wife lie for him;
“He’s a typical liar,” said Mike McGrath, historian of Nam-Pow, a nonprofit organization of Vietnam prisoners of war. “There are 540 of us still alive from Vietnam, and we have 3,000 wannabees who want to be us.”
Groves, who has hired an attorney after a week of online challenges to his truthfulness, insists he was a POW who for unexplained reasons does not appear in the Pentagon’s database.
“We are retaining legal counsel. Until then we have no further comment except to say these accusations are entirely false and defamatory,” Groves’ wife, Fran Groves, said Friday afternoon.
Yeah, I want to meet the lawyer who has so few scruples that he’d take this case which is a slam dunk against Groves. Word on the street is that Utah’s veterans ain’t lettin’ this one go and the needles are pointed down at Groves. I’m just hoping that Groves’ lawyer ends up Tuesday morning at the Mineral County Courthouse in the “I’m here to sue TAH” line.

Maybe he’ll get that moron attorney from “Under the Hood” that lost every one of his cases.

Amanda, I find it rather odd that you will cast dispersions upon the gentlemen here without not knowing, yourself, whether Mr. Groves’ claims are true. I would also like for you to show me where anyone has cast dispersions upon Mrs. Groves. It seems YOU are doing the very thing you are accusing these august gentlemen of doing.
IF Mr. Groves’ claims are proven to be false, I hope you will have the decency to come back here and apologize with the same vigor you have accused with.
I personally don’t care if he’s the nicest guy in the world, Amanda – he appears to be lying through his teeth. And he’s apparently too much of a wuss to do it himself, and has to let his spouse speak for him.
He’s not listed on any of the official lists of Vietnam POWs maintained by DoD. He’s been given ample opportunity to explain why he doesn’t appear on those lists, but refuses to do so. So unless he comes up with some really solid documentary evidence backing his claims and makes it public, well, anyone with 3 or more working brain cells has to conclude he’s a phony.
Sorry if the truth hurts, lady. But at this point, the truth about Groves appears to be that he’s a liar and a fraud.
And he may be lying about more than his “POW” status. Photos of him show him wearing the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and Soldiers Medal. I’d bet he’s not entitled to them – and falsely wearing military decorations to which one is not entitled also constitutes a Federal crime.
