Phony firefighter admits lies

| February 24, 2012

Yeah, it’s not just the troops who suffer fools. In this link from Tman, Jordan Lifander admits that he lied to a crowd when he claimed that he was a captain of FDNY’s Ladder 133, which lost 12 men on Sept. 11, but he was a firefighter in Long Island at the time.

“You know, once you tell one lie, you gotta keep up that lie,” Lifander told CBSNewYork.com on Wednesday. “I got all caught up in the whole 9/11 anniversary and just lied. I was not a member of the FDNY, was not a captain in Ladder 133.”

Lifander “did not survive the disaster any more than those of us who watched it on television,” CBS 2’s Lou Young wrote.

Dressed in a uniform with an FDNY patch, Lifander spoke at a 9/11 memorial service in Spartanburg, S.C., last year, telling the crowd he attended “47 funerals in three weeks for brothers who died that day.” He received a standing ovation.

He didn’t gain anything from his lie, so its him just taking advantage of his freedom of speech rights. Sounds to me that he was just trying to pick up women at the event, so I’m sure Jonathan Turley will ruch to his defense.

That’s still pretty ballsy….we’re used to seeing people lie about being SOF or DevGru…but to specify a distinct unit of the FDNY? How could one not think they would get busted?

Right on, CI. I bet there will be some serious “backdraft” and smoke flowing his way too…heh!

This is just nuts. I’ve heard of “Survivor’s Guilt,” but what is this? “Hero Envy”?

Call the FDNY, have them take him on a ride along to the biggest most ugly fire on the go and then let him demonstrate his ability at taking on the fire. Same as the other frauds out there, set up video equipment for education purposes and let these scuzz balls demonstrate their skill set. But that is only a thought and we know it would never happen. However drop him off at the nearest fire hall/pump house and then maybe the professionals will educate him or at very least physically voice their thoughts upon him.
