Sometimes arresting illegals doesn’t require profiling

| December 30, 2011

Some bozo in the Phoenix New Times is complaining that Sheriff Joe Arpaio is violating a judge’s order to refrain from profiling when he arrests a crowd of illegals. How is it profiling when officers observe a Chevy Astro with California plates speeding and changes lanes without signaling?

A deputy saw right away that a middle bench to the van had been removed and the vehicle was packed with 12 people, some lying down on the floor with no space to move freely.

The Spanish-speaking passengers were disheveled, dusty and nervous. They had no luggage.

In other words, it appeared to detectives that the group was in the country illegally.

“At this point, detectives recognized this as a human smuggling incident,” a deputy wrote in court paperwork.

Yeah, that’s not profiling, dipshit. People who look like they’ve spent days in the desert and packed in a van in Arizona and headed north are probably illegal aliens. And they were in a van that was breaking the law. Profiling would be pulling over every Mexican driving a van while obeying all of the laws.

At what distance can police officers determine the race/ethnicity of a driver in a moving vehicle? My vision is poor but correctable to 20/20, and I can’t tell anything much about a driver at the distances a police officer is making a determination of probable cause to stop.

Is it just my lack of perception? Or is the entire idea of racial profiling for traffic stops a crock?

Nothing we say will change the “few” who wish to ruin our Nation…

This episode absolutely screams probably cause when the Officer pulled the van over.

Any federal civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of 26-year-old former Marine Jose Guerena, who was shot over 70 times and killed by the Pima County Sheriff’s SWAT Team in his own home? No? Nothing.

Just goin’ after Arpaio, the conservative sheriff?

Oh, that’s right. Sheriff Dupnik is a leftist who blamed Rush Limbaugh, the Tea Party and conservatives in general for causing Jared Lee Laughner to kill a federal judge and shoot a Congresswoman. In other words, an Obama supporter.

Stopping a speeding vehicle is not profiling. Letting the vehicle go because it contains folks who look (from a distance) like they MIGHT be illegals would actually BE profiling.

On second thought, stopping a speeding vehicle might actually be profiling if someone can show that only illegals violate speed limit laws???

Just some undocumented workers looking for a job that we won’t do…

That’s how the bleeding heart libbers see it, but, they are MORONS…

“At what distance can police officers determine the race/ethnicity of a driver in a moving vehicle”? Valerie, I was told many times, usually about 2a.m. or later, that I could do that from at least a quarter of a mile away. At least the driver always insisted it was true, regardless of his/her race or ethnic origin.

It is not profiling, it is called trend analysis.
If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it most likely is a duck.

So now being minimally observant is “profiling”? Color me surprised.

A childhood friend of mine is a deputy in AZ (In one of the more northern, central counties that isn’t Maricopa) and he was telling me it’s easy to spot the illegals driving. They’ll most likely be speeding and when pulled over, the vehicle will be registered to one Anglo name and– if there is an insurance card at all– registered under another name for proof. AT that point, most officers would easily say “Yeah, they are here illegally.”
