Vets4Obama
Zero sent us an article from Reuters which warns that the Obama campaign has assembled about 700 veterans to spread the message that Obama is a strong and capable military leader. I guess that IAVA and VoteVets haven’t successfully shouldered their load;
The Obama campaign has built a network of more than 700 supportive veterans to promote the president in key states such as Virginia and North Carolina, where 13 percent and 11 percent of residents are veterans, respectively.
These states are among a dozen divided battleground states that could hold the keys to victory in the 2012 election.
The move is a sign that the Obama campaign will aggressively tout the commander-in-chief’s record as a military leader while it tries to assure Americans that the president can lift the struggling U.S. economy.
I suppose that it’s fairly easy to find a few hundred Kool Aid drinkers among millions of veterans. The military isn’t a monolithic bloc of voters and, of course, there will be a few who still support Obama and are willing to campaign for him, but I don’t think it will turn out well for them or for Obama. The problem is that you can’t convince someone of somthing when they’ve seen it with their own eyes.
Yeah, you can tell the regular old nimrods that Obama is going to pay their rent and car payments and they’ll believe it. But you can’t tell the military that Obama is a strong and capable leader when they’ve been surrounded by strong and capable leaders for their whole adult lives and know what one really looks like.
And they’d better prepare their bios…veterans are not going to be convinced by someone who spent twenty years managing the Fort Jackson NCO club. We want credentials.
Category: Barack Obama/Joe Biden
Why the hell would any veteran in his right mind support Dear Leader Obama? Obama loathes the military.
Isn’t that like being Jews for Hitler?
If you look hard enough, you can always find a Quisling to do your bidding for you.
I understand that the going pay rate for veterans to support Obama is 30 pieces of silver.
how much you want to bet that the more rabid supporters are very loose with the definition of “Veteran”
How much you want to bet they’re all either minorities or POGs?
Obama got the largest percentage of AD/veteran vote in 2008 that I can recall, and he still didn’t crack 30 percent. After seeing what he’s done to the DoD budget, how he’s thrown just about every service under the bus, repeal of DADT (and don’t think that won’t be an issue), TRICARE, COLA for retirees, etc., yeah. Not good for Teleprompter Jebus.
@6 you know why the DOD tends not to vote dem? Because we deal in reality, and not the way we wish things were.
Some of us have very long memories. I remember the late 60s and the gawd awful 70s and what the damn democrats did to us. I remember motor pools full of vehicles that were deadlined for lack of parts. I remember the parasites blaming my father and his boys on Vietnam. I remember all of it and I ain’t the forgiving kind.
It’s all part of the smokee and mirrors game. See, we are regarded as stupid and if we see an organization named “Vets4Obama” we’ll just get on board. Right. If we’re the stupid ones, why does the organization (if it truly exists) use the number 4 in its name when the word is for, not four?
#2 Almost like “Moslems for Hamhocks”
I made up the Vets4Obama name as a take-off on the Vets4Bush group that formed in 2000.
Rats.
It will be interesting, for sure, to see just how many of the “vets” supporting him will be busted for false claims. Time to start a pool?
@#13: I bet that 80-90% of these so called Vets, if real, were Chapter cases.
After reading this I was like WTF? What Vet in their right mind (key word) would even want to be associated with this guy?
“If you look hard enough, you can always find a Quisling to do your bidding for you”. Hell yeah, look at George Soros. They’ll parade a few Wes Clark clones out there.
Well its not like we don’t appreciate sweating over whether we might actually get paid or not. I’m sure there have been battalion formations in Republican Presidencies where the BC had to give a pep talk to troops that may not get paid at all (or did late). Yeah come to think of it, I’m sure that happened all the time.
I wonder how many in the Marine Corpse will vote for him. At least that is what BHO called them.
