The wildlife in DC
Old Trooper sent us this video. I’d seen it last night. It’s a guy at L’Enfant Plaza Metro station in DC on the south side of the Smithsonian museums who was reading a book while waiting for the subway train. He’s suddenly and without reason attacked by what he describes as pre-teens.
The other children in the station just film the attack on their cell phones and laugh at the guy.
His brother writes;
He’s hoarse from yelling for help; no one came to his aid, though lots of people stood around and watched. He finally broke away and ran and pounded on the info kiosk and got the Metro attendant’s attention and got them to call 911.
Metro police eventually showed up. I don’t know if the kids will be caught; the main ones ran off, while other “eyewitnesses” offered to sell him their video footage evidence before they too, disappeared.
I was mugged once in a DC Metro station (Brookland/Catholic University station) by 5 teenage boys in much the same manner. When I got the station master’s attention and he reviewed the tape, he said it was my fault because I’d fought back and wouldn’t call the Metro cops. Now, you know why they won’t let anyone carry guns in DC – there’d be dead teenagers littering the streets.

When I was stationed on Fort McNair one of my Soldiers (a Mexican kid about 6’2″ and 220 pounds) was chased from Maine Avenue back to base by a gang of teenagers. He had walked to the Post Office off of South Capitol St and was minding his own business walking back when they decided he was a target. Another time in broad daylight I was stuck in traffic driving home when a giant piece of concrete bounced off my windshield, barely missing McCotter’s arm. Somehow it only scratched the glass but no one at the bus stop next to me did anything more than gasp; I guess they were waiting for the two white boys to jump out looking for a fight. All I can figure is that some kid in the projects lining the street tossed the concrete from a balcony, figuring it would be funny to break my windshield.
Sadly, it is much the same in Baton Rouge–the younger teenagers are who you have to look out for. I was having a conversation yesterday with some Future Soldiers who agreed that the middle and even elementary schools are much worse than the high schools.
This is why I ALWAYS have a knife on me.
The problem is that so many people are afraid to defend others for fear of going to jail themselves that they refuse to come to the aid of others and the real criminals roam free. I suggest carrying all of your money in the form of pennies (like, 20 bucks worth) and use a sock as your change purse. When the assholes come out, give them your money as quickly as possible and try to make sure everybody gets a fair share.
Kill one, scare a thousand. It works.
Too bad they didn’t pick on the wrong guy who would have picked one of their ghetto trash asses up and tossed them over the rail, onto the tracks below.
That would have been sweet and I’d pay good money to see that on a video.
Fucking animals…
NH Sparky is spot on…Kill One, Scare Thousands.
Chemical spray would’ve been the proper response to the “youts.”
KFC…. op, I mean, DDT… lol

That was fucked up. Thanks for stooping to their level.
This needs to happen more often:
Correction: There’d only be dead teenagers littering the streets for about the first 24 hours.
Jonn said “Now, you know why they won’t let anyone carry guns in DC – there’d be dead teenagers littering the streets.”
I disagree. The reason why this happens is precisely because they won’t let anyone carry guns in DC. There are no consequences for these little bastards, so the only option is to fight back. I bet the cops would be there lickety split had the guy skull punched a couple of them and dropped them where they stood.
His mistake was in just trying to fend off the blows. He should have snapped one of their necks and if the fuckfaces didn’t get the clue, kept hammpering them until they did. That is the only thing those animals will understand. And make no mistake about it, that is all they are – animals who walk upright and have thumbs.
Home on leave once and I went to go visit a buddy at college. Stopped at the party store to grab a case of beer and some high school kids were lingering outside the store. When I came out one asked me to buy beer for him. When I refused he came around my side of the car and said “how about if we just take yours” The look on his buddies face said “what in the hell are you doing?” I caught him square on the nose and dropped him, got in the car and left. My buddy wanted to go back out looking for him and when we found him I told my buddy it wasn’t the same kid…I figured I made my point. I wonder if he ever pulled that stunt again?

Great video! I wonder how long before some parent ends up in jail for doing that though…
Spigot: I was just thinking the same thing. What is it, 750 Volts? Start tossing.
Sadly, I think it happens too frequently OT, parents getting in trouble for applying motivation and dedication.
Now where’s Joe to spew how these animals attacking this man are just poor, misunderstood, underprivileged kids?
having been mobbed, its difficult to defend yourself, unless you happen to happen to be some sort of super dooper martial arts type or are armed…
looking back, i think the thing to do is get a death lock on one of them and take them down no matter what. at least you won’t be alone when the cops get there to take a report. %-)
#15, redc1c4, I would NOT recommend taking it to the ground when their friends are there. You’re placing yourself in a position where they can then starting kicking you in your melon while you are tied up in a ground fight.
Not good…
The poor guy in this video missed some golden opportunities when these bitches came at him in ones and twos…if properly trained, he could have put one or two of them on the “pain train” and the rest would have, most likely, run like their asses were on fire.
I’ve been in that station…I used to go TDY to DC from MacDill on a regular basis…but I was always there on weekdays when they were crowded with commuters. There is not one Metro station in DC I would like to be in at low peak periods, particularly at night on a weekend.
Off topic here:
I mentioned McCotter above and just checked his sister’s blog at http://billy-cooter-mccotter.blogspot.com/. For more info on him, check out this: http://www.blackfive.net/main/2010/10/two-must-read-posts.html
Anyway, in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season I neglected to make the time to see him despite being two hours south. Hell, he was given about a year to live and I figured there was always next time. It seems he passed away at 2135 on 26 December. I still have a half-finished letter on the PC at home that I just couldn’t find the words to complete.
Please keep his family in your prayers, and don’t take anyone for granted…
#11: OT, awesome!
If not conforming to the 2d Amendment of the Law of our Land, then perhaps reforming the tendency to lawrape Good Samaritans. When ordinary folks know that they won’t go to jail or be some lawyer’s personal wallet-for-life, they’ll step in, not film.
I’m sorry for your loss, FM. My thoughts and prayers are with you and his family.
After watching that vid, I can only wonder what I would have done if I had seen that happening. That one young woman looked pretty darn big. I would have to consider that there was probably a shock factor for the guy being attacked as well as the onlookers, but still… for the people watching to not do or even say anything?

#1 I saw the name “McCotter” in your first post and was wondering about it. Your post in #17 answered my question. I didn’t know Billy or his family, but something about his sister writing about him struck a chord with me when I first found the blog. It moved me enough to write a bit about it and to post my thoughts to his sister. When I found that he had passed, I couldn’t come to post a comment on the blog so sent a short personal email to Michelle. In the midst of all that she is going through, she sent me a kind and thoughtful response. I was/am in awe of the strength of Michelle, her brother and their amazing family… just from the power of words.
I think this also stems from some men thinking they shouldn’t hit a girl. There was a time when that attitude was acceptable, but now we have women(and I use the term loosely) like the one of the video. That man should have laid her flat.
It was a chemical joke
From #5… chemical… 2 + 2…
Yeah, I’m quite familiar with DDT and pesticides and herbicides and bone marrow testing and heterogeneity, blah blah. I was referring to the KFC quip.
