North Texas teen was killed in self-defense during armed robbery, police say

A North Texas teen was shot and killed Monday during an armed robbery, after a 20-year-old fired in self-defense, police said. The North Texas Emergency Communications Center received a call shortly after 7 p.m. about a weapon-related incident in the 2200 block of Heads Lane, Carrollton police said in a news release Thursday.A short time later, a woman called to report that her 16-year-old son had been shot, police said. The boy, who has not been identified, was taken to Carrollton Regional Hospital for treatment. He later died there, police said. Investigators determined that the 16-year-old boy, along with John Avila and Markellin Soto, both 17, and two 15-year-old girls drove to Carrollton to meet Adan Sandoval, 20, under the “pretense of selling illegal substances with the intent to rob him,” according to police.
Police said that during the meeting the 16-year-old boy “brandished” a gun, which resulted in Sandoval shooting him in self-defense. Avila, Soto, and one of the 15-year-old girls each face charges of aggravated robbery, police said. Sandoval had not been charged as of Thursday in the teen’s death, according to police.

KelTec always reminds me of White Hispanic George Zimmerman. Thank you George for your service to your community, to Sanford, to Florida and the public at large wherever they may be.
Pretty safe to say George Kellgren, the designer behind Kel-Tec, has never even seen ‘the box’ everyone thinks in. That said, he basically invented the micro-.380 (his P3AT came out years before the Ruger LCP) and it seems that while some of his guns are unconventional, they pretty much work very well. I’ve handled quite a few and have to say, they aren’t always tackdrivers but they’ve all pretty much been dead reliable… May have to try out that P17 and some Federal Punch together.
I have the P11 and P32. Both are excellent little carry guns, though I don’t really carry either anymore.
Five punk kids selling or pretending to sell dope, thinking they’re tough gangstas, and decide to rob Adan Sandoval, who obviously is a choir boy pretending to be a buyer so he could talk them into changing their ways, (do I really need the /s tag?)
With the surnames, this has Hispanic gang(s) written all over it. I’d be willing to bet the parents are either absentee-father or cartel-related. Wonder if/how many children these “children” have between them?
I wonder how short the time will be before mommy starts the standard; “…he was a good boy, so gentle and giving, he was a father of 4 with 3 girlfriends, he was going to school and just needed money for school clothes! Just because he pulled out a gun doesn’t give you a right to shoot him!”?
