Memphis Man Arrested for Stolen Valor

| December 4, 2025

In a plot twist that absolutely no one saw coming (except literally everyone), 30-year-old Damien Flowers has been arrested for pretending to be a member of the U.S. Air Force—a career path that apparently conflicted with his actual full-time job of getting arrested in Mississippi.

Flowers’ elaborate military fantasy came crashing down after he submitted documents to the VA claiming years of dedicated Air Force service. There was just one tiny problem: during his supposed time “serving his country,” he was actually racking up arrests like frequent flyer miles—four busts in Southaven and one in Olive Branch between 2015 and 2023.

Investigators quickly noticed that Flowers had a unique talent for being in two places at once: simultaneously defending freedom and sitting in a Mississippi jail cell. It’s called multitasking, people.

The real chef’s kiss? His “buddy letter” supporting his PTSD claim, allegedly from “SSgt Marcus Hill,” was written in a handwriting font. Because nothing says “authentic military correspondence” quite like Microsoft Word’s “Bradley Hand” preset.

Flowers now faces charges including Criminal Impersonation, Impersonating a Member of the U.S. Armed Forces, Destruction/Tampering with Governmental Records, and Forgery.

Lessons learned:

1) Alibis work better when you’re not literally in jail during your “deployment”
2) If someone asks you to write a “buddy letter,” maybe ask some follow-up questions first
3) Google Fonts is not your friend in federal investigations

Wannabes may want to clip these tips to include in the “Fake Warrior Starter Kit.”

Memphis man arrested in stolen valor investigation
by: Karen Bray Davis | Nov 16, 2025 / 09:17 PM CST

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A Memphis man is in jail facing felony charges for impersonating a member of the U.S. Armed Forces, after submitting documents to the VA hospital claiming to have been enlisted in the Air Force for several years, according to police records.

Police arrested 30-year-old Damien Flowers on Sunday, Nov. 16 after an investigation involving the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations, and the Memphis Police Economic Crimes Bureau.

The investigator ran Flowers’ criminal history and found multiple arrests during the period he said he was serving in the Air Force — records show four arrests by Southaven Police in 2015, 2020, 2022, and 2023 and one arrest by Olive Branch Police in 2020.

According to the affidavit, the VA investigator came to the Memphis Police Economic Crimes Bureau and presented a “buddy letter” Flowers had submitted to a VA employee to support his Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder claim. The letter was not handwritten, but instead a handwriting font had been used and had “SSgt Marcus Hill” in the signature space.

Later…

Flowers is charged with Criminal Impersonation, Impersonating a Member of the U.S. Armed Forces, Destruction/Tampering with Governmental Records, and Forgery.

Looks like he done put himself in deep kimchi, and the only sympathy I have for him is found somewhere between “shit” and “syphilis” in a dictionary!

(WTF! I click on the “thumbs up”, and the counter dropped from “1” to ” 0″ ?!)

I have a feeling that Mr Flowers will be deFlowered while serving time in the PMITA Prison as an employee with BTJT Deli. (need I go on?)

Old tanker

You mean jail doesn’t count as a deployment???

Only if you’re in a Turkish prison.

His pre-deployment briefing began with “You have the right to remain silent….”

An Air Force phony! I can’t recall the last time I saw a fake zoomie.

Not just Soup Sandwich, we had a fake USAF PJ along with “Blobfish” who was part of the Dutch Rudder Gang.

Let’s not forget the cheese eating, grape stealing, compass calling, police car driving Denny Chevalier.

RCAF-CHAIRBORNE

I’ve gotta give it to the departed Soupy.
He looked at valor and he stole ALL of it.
No half measures for him. A trait absent from present day phonies.

Yeah, that threw the TAH numbers all akilter.

Prior Service (Ret)

He would have done better claiming to be a specialist in the Army. Old SP4 Prior Service could have successfully pulled off three simultaneous details and a stint in jail. It was a testable task on the SQT.

As complicated and confusing as the promotions and career systems are in the Air Force, I would think no one would want to fake being part of all that silliness. but then, if he had an IQ over 50, he wouldn’t be trying to pull this rubbish.

Hack Stone

The 1st Sergeant of the unit on Camp Lejeune that Hack Stone’s brother Rollin Stone was assigned to would give the Weekend Safety Brief, then report to Onslow County Jail to work off his DUI conviction. Hack needs to check with Rollin, it may have included vehicular manslaughter.

Hey waitaminnit, isn’t Memphis the turf of Turd Bolling of Ambassador Worldwide? Asking for a friend.

I was walking in Memphis one day when a shuttle bus driver met me at my destination. “Dennis”, he said, “I saw you walking, why didn’t you wait for me, it’s my job to give folks rides from the hotels. People get shot just walking through that neighborhood.” I thanked him and explained it was a nice morning, I was early, and, besides, I’m a veteran, I will walk anywhere I please.

Maybe this guy was just trying to get some of that immunity.

I broke down in Springfield Mass many years ago on I 91. Had to walk to the hospital to find a pay phone. Called my dispatch and told them my situation then got directions from the Policeman at the desk to the truck stop. He tried to gat me to take a cab but I needed the exercise so away I went. It seemed that a Springfield police cruiser passed by on every block till I arrived at the truck stop. I met one dude with a hoodie on but I am 6’5” and 255 lbs. and I kept my hands in my jacket pockets . He decided he needed to go in another direction. I am cautious but I too go pretty much where I want.

Springfield had some nice museums, schools, restaurants, churches, parks, etc once upon a time. Now, the only good about Springfield is, if you’re heading north, you’re out of that cluster snafu that is I 91 in Hartford.

The last time I was in Springfield I questioned the logic of rebuilding it after it was burned during King Philip’s War in October 1675.

The funny thing is, experts have asked criminals who they will target as victims of theft, assault, etc., and generally their response is, “if someone looks like a veteran, as in they’re looking around, they’re aware, they are paying attention to what’s happening, they wear clothes that can conceal guns, stay away from them and find another target.”

If you look like you’re ready for a fight, they generally don’t want anything to do with you. They want go to after the sheep that’s lackadaisical about everything.

I recall the legendary Jon Lilyea had a favorite song he posted here called “Walking in Memphis.” Wish I could find the link that Jon posted, but here is the official music video.

His flowering carreer is now over. Flowers,
how about “Blue Flowers” 1954 by the Brooklyn Strangers on the King record label.

Let’s hope he gets big time for this. And for all others scamming the VA going forward. Son of bitches anyway.

Skivvy Stacker

Why do I have the feeling that letter went something like; “So, this letter is to tell you that Damian was in the Airforce and has the PTS of the D real bad. I no this because I was his Staffsargent in the Airforse for his whole time in.”

Dennis - not chevy

I wonder if the author of the letter made mention of his being eligible for the highly coveted Air Force Training Ribbon; you know the “I don’t have any ribbons ribbon”. I would have been impressed.

The pinger ribbon
