How Dare You: U.N. Warns U.S. Attacks on Cartel Drug Boats ‘Unacceptable’

U.S. military strikes against cartel drug boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean journeying from South America are “unacceptable” and must stop, the U.N. human rights chief Volker Türk warned Friday.
Türk called for an immediate investigation into the strikes against narco terrorists in what is the first such condemnation of its kind from the globalist organization.
AP reports Ravina Shamdasani, a spokeswoman for Türk’s office, relayed his message on Friday at a regular U.N. briefing:
These attacks and their mounting human cost are unacceptable. The U.S. must halt such attacks and take all measures necessary to prevent the extrajudicial killing of people aboard these boats.
She said Türk believed “airstrikes by the United States of America on boats in the Caribbean and in the Pacific violate international human rights law.”
So, write a strongly worded letter.

Drugs kill more US Citizens in a month in the US than were killed by terrorists in 20 years…I think sinking some drug boats is an appropriate response to the threat level drugs represent to our citizens.

This isn’t too surprising. The UN has been highly critical of the ongoing drug war in the Philippines that has resulted in 6000-30,000 extrajudicial killings. While the numbers are nowhere near the same the concept is similar. This is hardly the “first such condemnation of its kind”. Certainly the US has been investigated by the UN before for alleged human rights violations in other places such as Afghanistan.
Trinidad, Tobago and Venezuela have all called for the UN Human Rights Commission to investigate the strikes as they have allegedly all had citizens killed and wounded in the strikes. Trinidad and Tobago claim their citizens were fishing.
Venezuela has taken a more defensive view presenting themselves as a non-threat and are worried the US is planning to invade, as it often does when it starts taking military action against another country.
What is new is the brazenness of the US in pursuing extrajudicial killings openly. Previously, when the US would kill a target by drone strike or whatever means we would try to keep it to ourselves. Here we are sending a message. The message is “don’t peddle your poisons here or you could die”. I think what the president has failed to realize is that has always been the case for the cartel members, so the message loses it’s impact. Still, one has to appreciate the effort.
Funny how there is no fishing gear on those high-speed boats, but there are lots of barrels of fuel and large bundles.
