Trump reveals how US military is going to crack down on drug smugglers on land

Speaking from the Oval Office on Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump said that the U.S. will “hit” drug smugglers attempting to enter the U.S. by land, following a series of lethal strikes on cartel boats at sea.
The president was questioned on his use of military force to crack down on drug smugglers in the Caribbean and Pacific following the eighth such strike in recent weeks.
Trump acknowledged that “it is violent” but said that “every one of those boats that gets knocked out is saving 25,000 American lives.”
“We have the greatest military in the world. We have the greatest weapons in the world. And you see a little bit of it there, one shot, every one dead center. And the only way you can’t feel bad about it is you realize … that every time you see that happen, you’re saving 25,000 American lives.”

Trump said that following these strikes, “there are very few boats traveling on the water, so now they’ll come in by land to a lesser extent.”“And they will be hit on land also,” he said.
Pressed on whether he has legal authority to unleash strikes on drug smugglers on U.S. territory, Trump answered confidently, “Yes, we do.”
The president notified Congress that the U.S. is now at war with drug cartels designated as terrorist organizations. The latest strike on a drug boat occurred in the Pacific is sending a clear message to the cartels- sea smuggling is done. As they react to the new reality and change tactics so will Trump.

Loving the exploding leftist heads claiming he’s killing random people without due process… they think we’re just arbitrarily wiping out boats without monitoring them and making sure we know what’s out there/on them? Like that’s so hard to do, given our capabilities?

As far as I’m concerned, these countries ARE the cartels. Make ‘em feel it. Make ‘em hurt. As Chesty Puller said “you don’t hurt ‘em if you don’t hit ‘em.”
They aren’t getting any due process, although the killings aren’t random either. The fact the drug dealers don’t give their victims due process means nothing.
According to Trump we should now have zero drug overdoses as he was “saving 25,000 American lives” with each strike. This is nonsense of course. The street prices of drugs hasn’t changed so it is unlikely any lives were saved. Drug use has dropped somewhat the last few years with a drop in overdose deaths and there should be some more reduction this year.
What we have done is put the military in the gun sights of drug cartels. Once the dealers figure out what does what in the US military it will open the ranks up to bribery, extortion and murder. I’d like to think our officers wouldn’t take money from drug dealers but the hundreds of cases during the GWOT showed up us how open the ranks are to being on the take.
I am curious where he plans to strike targets on land? Bogata, Columbia would be bad, Columbia, South Carolina would be much worse and likely poorly received.
I would call what Trump is doing “due process”.

Provided the budget ever passes, starting next year military counter terror agents will be allowed to operate off post in the US. This is mostly aimed at supporting border anti-drug and anti-trafficking operations.
Sir, I think you’re wrong about “due process of Law”. Due Process is supposed to be in place to prevent the government from taking away property, freedom, or civil rights without the due process of a civil court of law in which a person accused of a crime is afforded a chance to defend themselves against such accounts brought against them by the state, or by accusations of private citizens who may have disingenuous intentions against their neighbors.
I hear that! Frankly, the only countries south of the border I consider true US allies (off the top of my head) are the Salvadorians, Argentinans, and maybe the Brazilians (allegedly).

I disagree with Hegseth’s assertion that the boats are being stopped “cold”. Looks pretty damn hot to me when they get hit. Now if they can get master criminal Gru’s freeze ray…. Perhaps some bananas to the minions might facilitate that situation.
Shipping dangerous drugs to America which will eventually kill 50,000+ Americans a year is an act of war.
And, FINALLY, is being treated as such.
I have repeatedly said that we have not really fought a “war on drugs” – but it seems now we have at least a few opening skirmishes.
Problem we have is that so many Americans WANT them, creating a supply vacuum which the cartels fill. We will never truly address supply until the demand side is eliminated. And the last country that effectively did THAT was China back in the ’50s. Of course, they killed off something like 50,000,000 people doing it, too.

The best way I can think of to ‘deal’ with the OCONUS drug cartels is to use all of the weight of the military intel machine to identify and localize the cartel order of battle and start a concerted effort to remove the head of the snake so to speak. Make some just disappear in the night, and others in a loud and grotesque manner. Remove enough and sooner than later, the rest would rather not take that ‘blood’ promotion to drug CEO.
Time to put the fear of GOD in those shit stains on the underwear of life.

There’s no talking people in that part of the world out of joining the drug trade, but the realization that it could get them blown into confetti WILL convince a number of them to stay out of that shit!
