President Trump to UN: What is the purpose of the United Nations?
President Donald Trump addressed the United Nations but did not say things that a politician or diplomat would normally say. Instead, Trump rebuked the UN; from substandard escalator and teleprompter performances to the United Nation’s failure to fulfill its purpose. Trump also took aim at his predecessor’s delivering repeat disasters for the U.S.

“And sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them. I ended seven wars, dealt with the leaders of each and every one of these countries, and never even received a phone call from the United Nations offering to help in finalizing the deal.”
Trump noted a broken escalator and telepromter shows the lack of respect the U.N. has for the U.S.
“All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that, on the way up, stopped right in the middle,” Trump said. “If the first lady wasn’t in great shape, she would have fallen.
“But she’s in great shape. We’re both in good shape. We both stood.
“And then a teleprompter that didn’t work. These are the two things I got from the United Nations. A bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.”
Trump boldly asked “what is the purpose of the United Nations?”
“The U.N. has such tremendous potential,” Trump said. “I’ve always said it. It has such tremendous, tremendous potential. But it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential for the most part, at least for now.

The United Nations exists so that a group of “national leaders” can meet in New York City and pontificate on all the world’s wars, disasters, civil rights issues, what have you, all the while accomplishing nothing and blaming the US for the ills of the world. They serve no purpose other than to enable the liberals of the world to pat themselves on the back and say “Look! We did something!” They’re also great for sending “peacekeeping forces” to various shitholes to rape the local women and generally run amok.

The Armenian conflict has been going on forever. We studied it in CGSC and used it as a conflict that we would step into for practice. Half the class was on one side the other half worked the other side. That was back in 2009.
On paper Serbia – Kosovo was resolved in 2020. The reality is that the government is too fragmented to be effective. Some of the leaders don’t want to give up power because they could be facing war crime trials.
Egypt and Ethiopia could blow up at any minute. Egypt grows a shit ton of food and cotton and isn’t interested in sharing.
Egypt will have a tough time getting at Ethiopia.

This situation still exists and got considerably worse in September when the dam went into operation. War was staved off for the moment but fighting could break out if they don’t resolve this. The US was heavily involved in the negotiations.
The Serbia and Kosovo Normalization Agreements were a first term project that is still in process. 11 Days ago talks were suspended. There is currently no active combat.
The Rwanda – DRC peace agreement was brokered by the US in June and signed off by both parties but implementation has stalled.

Any way you look at it, Marco Rubio deserves, and I mean really deserves, the Nobel Peace Prize and has proved himself to be a master at state craft. This might be the first time that Trump has said; “Nobody has ever seen anything like it” and been accurate.

Read this morning that the escalator stopped due to a Trump aide tripping a sensor at the top, and the teleprompter was White House owned. No idea if one or both is accurate., but you would think the Secret Service would tightly control equipment as close as a teleprompter.
“Control” and “operate” are two different skillsets. If the teleprompter was White House owned, it was most likely operated by the White House Communications Agency.

Just as the League of Nations was Wilson’s baby (the US Senate didn’t go along); the United Nations was FDR’s baby. It didn’t happen overnight, FDR used the term United Nations before the October 24, 1945 UN meeting in San Francisco CA.
Let them keep the UN, but let them keep it elsewhere. Me thinks Gaza has a bunch of places that need rebuilt, or open land to redevelop. And since no demolition costs are involved (somebody else paid for that portion), they should come in on time and on budget.

What is the as I like to call it, the “United Nothing”? I see it as the most incompetent, impotent and imbecilic mishmash of nincompoopery, it’s simply the world’s largest gaggle of milquetoasts who got there due to family bloodlines or connections and they do nothing without cameras present and whatever they do send gets skimmed and/or gets seized by third world warlords who horde it from those it was intended to feed, much like what we’ve seen in Gaza. I don’t think Putler the Butcher is too happy with Trump’s latest statements about the war in Ukraine. President Trump in a Truth Social post stated his belief that Ukraine could win back all of its territory.
Trump is shifting gears and, if Putler the Butcher doesn’t stop his aggression, he could face a situation where the NATO countries are purchasing US military equipment and ammunition and giving it to Ukraine while at the same time Trump slams the hammer down with the secondary sanctions.
Trump did warn that if Russia didn’t want to stop its nonsense aggression, Ukraine was “getting everything it needed.”

Those who have religiously followed the conflict since 2022 see how this would happen. I followed the Soviet-Afghanistan war in the 1980s, not only are the Russians making the same mistakes now as the Soviets did in the 1980s, they’re doing it at a rapid rate. They should’ve been able to take Ukraine in days if not weeks. Yet, in 2025, they control less than what they controlled in March 2022. The gains they’ve been making since Ukraine’s first offensive have come at a catastrophic loss in both manpower and equipment. Russia’s anticipated summer offensive ended up as a massive dud.
Russia is rapidly burning through manpower, equipment, and reserves. This is something the Ukrainians have quickly exploited. There are even reports that the Russians have lured teenagers to work in factories making drones to make up for their worker shortfalls.
The Ukrainians, on the other hand, have rapidly been adapting, evolving their drone and missile technologies to the point to where they have slowly been bleeding Russia not just in Ukraine, but also in Russia. They’ve developed a missile that has proven effective, and has allowed them to strike deeper into Russia. They’re slowly working on destroying command and control and logistics capabilities.
After Trump initially threatened Russia with sanctions, Vladimir Solovyov, a TV host for a Russian show and his panel did not have their usual upbeat demeanor. They knew that if Trump carried out his economic threats, the Russians wouldn’t be able to keep up their war effort.
The longer this war wages, the more likely the Russian efforts in Ukraine will collapse.

We can add giving voice to the world’s largest drug dealer. Gustavo Petro, President of Columbia went to the UN yesterday to call for a criminal investigation of Trump for destroying his shipments of Cocaine to the US. He then complained about being decertified by Trump on counter drug operations and had the audacity to claim his programs of crop substitution and payments to farmers were working to reduce the world supply of cocaine.
The plot hole here is that the world supply of cocaine grew 53% last year (2024). Wholesale prices dropped and purity increased in the US. It seems unlikely that his policies are working unless it is to produce more cocaine. I’m pretty sure he is terrified that the US might go BOG in his country.

I would like the Colombian military, at least company level and below, to be on our side in such an event. The Colombians I interacted with in Egypt were good people, many of them with years of small unit combat experience fighting narcos. Good natured. They caught an IED when I was there, although no KIA.
I have no beef with the Colombians. I have a huge problem with some of them exporting massive quantities of cocaine to the US.
