Lots of little ones today.

Zachary Young, the Navy vet who successfully sued CNN for defamation and settled for $5,000,000 in January , had his subsequent cases against the AP and ‘Puck’ tossed.

Judge William Henry of Florida’s 14th Judicial Circuit, who also presided over Zachary Young’s successful CNN trial, granted two motions on Friday to dismiss defamation lawsuits against The Associated Press and Puck. The judge compared Young’s follow-up lawsuits to movie sequels that “should not be made.”

“It is said that for some movies or television shows, sequels or reboots should not be made. Oftentimes, the storyline is forced, new characters are not properly developed, inconsistencies arise between the original plot and the sequel’s, or the writers and producers are just lazy and trying to cash in on a previously successful idea. The same can be said of this case,” Henry wrote. Fox News

Young says he will appeal the AP case. The Puck case was dismissed with prejudice, so the judge’s decision is final.

Ilan Omar says she is “not a millionaire.” Her financial disclosure statements show otherwise.

The 2025 disclosure, first reported by the Washington Free Beacon, shows that Omar and her husband, Tim Mynett, have a net worth ranging from $6 million to $30 million, despite claims earlier this year that she was “not a millionaire.” The vast majority of the wealth comes from Mynett’s two companies, a winery in California and a venture capital firm.

Disclosures from the end of 2023 showed that those ownership stakes were valued at just $51,000, and they grew little in 2024.

She claims no income from either. The winery shows a value between $1-5 million and the VC firm between $5-25 million. Pretty good growth, from $51K to a minimum of $6 million in nine months. But of course she gets nothing from it… right. Bet if they got divorced she’s ask for 50% of it, at minimum, as her “right”.

Alaska-3

The Alaska Supreme Court has ruled against a bush pilot who was flying to a dry village where no alcohol is allowed (wth?) with a passenger who had several cases of beer and the pilot who had a single sixpack of Bud. And of course, though the pilot was charged with only a misdemeanor, Alaska is trying to seize his $95,000 plane under asset forfeiture.

“Alcohol abuse in rural Alaska leads to increased crime; disorders, such as alcoholism; conditions, such as fetal alcohol spectrum disorder; and death, imposing substantial costs on public health and the administration of justice. Within this context, it is clear that the illegal importation of even a six-pack of beer causes grave societal harm,” the ruling states. “This factor strongly suggests that the forfeiture is not grossly disproportional.”  Reason

The pilot has been fighting this for 13 years. Me, I think Alaska just fell off my destination list.

And an ending to make you smile. Sure did me.

The United States announced Wednesday it had seized more than 700,000 pounds (300,000 kilograms) of meth precursor chemicals that officials said were en route from China to Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel.

13,000 barrels, 35 TONS, not going to make it to the labs.  Apparently this was two seizures combined. No word on which service did the heavy lifting, but Bravo Zulu to them.

The chemicals would have been used to make 420,000 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value in Houston of $569 million, Pirro said. AFP

I’ve seen the ‘street value’ calculations before and have no doubt that it’s exaggerated, but 13,000 barrels the cartel isn’t getting? Good stuff!

I’d love to know how the chemicals were stopped and where. It would be sweet if a chinese vessel were confiscated.

As to the bush pilot, I think there is more involved than the brief article indicates.

Omar taking lessons from Nancy? Nothing like “immigrating” to a country you hate, become involved in their political process, gather up a few of your like minded colleagues to call for the destruction of America as we know it, and profiting while doing so.

Ever notice just about all the peeps in congress are millionairs when their salary moola shmoola doesn’t jive with their savings accounts. If omar would have stuck to making tents, she wouldn’t have 30 Mil in her bank account.

Odie

Peeps or perps. Spelling counts.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Thanks Odie, I didn’t think about Some peeps are Perps. When NYC Curtis Sliwa was on the radio, he used to call people peeps instead of people and thats what I use sometimes.

Odie

Not a problem, but there’s probably more perps than peeps at the lifetime levers of power, whether elected or bureaucrats.

Anonymously = coward(s). They get tired of getting their asses handed back to them, while some of us find it funny.

Anyone that goes into an “investment” with Ilhan & family, deserves what happens to them.
It’s like moving into an HOA (shudder…..)

Her husband sure looks shifty in that photo in the first article you linked.

Duke Cunningham, one of the two pilot US aces in Vietnam and Navy Cross and Purple Heart recipient died last week. The Duke was a great hotshot pilot and a very corrupt US Congressman who ended up going to prison for accepting bribes from defense contractors. He may not have stolen any valor but he sure took a lot, more than any other convicted member of congress.

It was only 20 years ago that he went to prison and I have to say I still remember the disappointment. He was pardoned by Trump45, on the way out of office, conditioned upon him paying restitution, which was over $3M and was never paid.

I don’t know how to judge a man who did so much for his country and then turned around and betrayed it in such a way. I only hope that he found peace with God before he passed.

1 screw up erases many, many atta boys.

Bush Pilot? How many bushes do you have to “fly” into before you get your “wings?”

I also have red wings.

35 tons is 70,000lbs. The actual amount is 700,000lbs or 350 tons.

Maybe, there is some voodoo going on here. Let’s see if we can decipher it.

700,000/13,000 = 54lb per barrel. They don’t say what the precursors are so maybe. But the barrels in the picture are WAY bigger than a 54lb drum. To me they look like 200-250lb drums.

They say the precursors would have made 420,000 pounds of meth, most likely crystal, high quality stuff as opposed to local shake and bake. Could be. Normally the final product takes a lot more than that. Again, don’t know what they seized.

Anyway 420,000 lbs is around 190,509,000 grams of meth which they say is worth $569M (or the present value amount of this week’s Powerball after taxes). This would make a gram worth only about $3, never, ever seen meth that cheap. Typically poor quality meth is $10-20/ gram, and high quality stuff is $30-40/gram, although it could cost more if it is very potent, although that is unlikely.

If they really had 190.5M grams it would be closer to $30 a gram and a street value more like $5.7B. Somewhere along the way the math was mixed, which may be by design. I will say that a drug lord that never passed the 4th grade would be able to tell down to the gram exactly how much he could make and sell it for, what his cut would be and how much interest he should be earning on it.

Ilhan Omar’s husband recently had an IRS tax lien recorded against his properties for over $200K in unpaid federal taxes. So much for the ‘Slamo Somali witch yapping about millionaires that don’t pay their pay “fair share of taxes.”
