And a bottle of Yuengling shall be placed upon that throne.

Tallywhagger

Yuengling is the oldest brewery in the U.S., so they say. Hard to imagine that since they are in Pottsville or Pottstown, PA.

Whatever the “case” it is pretty decent, more-so in its price range.

Fyrfighter

Pottsville

jeff LPH 3 63-66

I thought it said Pottysville,, and I had asudden urge to take a Brooklyn Navy Yard dump…

Tallywhagger

Thanks. Those two towns are just a few miles apart and they both have airports. When I was doing the long cross country solo trip for a private pilot license I had to land at the Pottsville airport, get the log book signed and pick up some fuel to finish the third leg of the trip.

If you landed at Pottstown airport, you failed the requirement and still had to go to Pottsville.

I got it right even though a pickup truck pulled onto the runway as I was on final approach and low on fuel.

I had to a go-around and ended up buying more than the minimum usable fuel–almost got into pre-Bernath situation. The line guy asked if I was paying cash or credit. I paid cash.

Nice motorcycle riding area.

I did my first solo cross country way back in 1967 as an ROTC cadet in Utah.

Tallywhagger

I was about 10 years behind you. Planes rented for about $8 – $10, wet. Flight instructors were a couple of bucks per hour and fuel still had lead in it.

rgr769

I logged my 40 hours of instruction, but didn’t get my private pilot’s license because I completed what the Army would pay for, but I needed about five pr six more hours of training and passing the written test to pass a check ride. Moreover, I was off to the Benning School for Wayward Young Men as soon as I was commissioned.

If I drink Yuengling, will being Yueng ling er for the rest of my life being so young and Here we go, speaking of so young, how about “I’m So Young” by the Ohio Students 1958 on Argo.

Gotta be the slowest dance tune ever.

jeff LPH 3 63-66

Thanks Beans, I read that the Ohio Students set the standards for the 1950’s “Kiddy” sound Jump songs when they did “Every Day Of The week”

Graybeard

When I was in high school, a slow dance tune where you could snuggle your girl on the dance floor forever was a dream.

SFC D

Time to shine that buckle 😉

Hack Stone

Hack Stone will take consolation with the Bronze Medal.

Hack Stone

If you got thrown out on your ass over ten years ago by Phil Monkress and never had a “real job” since, can you still celebrate Labor Day?

SgtM

I have dedicated a special area out behind the dumpsters behind the 7-11 just off the interstate. A half full bottle of Boones Farm and a week old donut will be left out so that “those people” do not feel slighted.

Odie

Your kindness knows no bounds.

A Proud Infidel®™

Aww, it’s a holiday, why not go all-out and leave them a full bottle of T-bird instead?

Tallywhagger

What’s the price?

SFC D

Tbird has gotten classy. Sort of.
https://www.tbirdwine.com/#

SFC D

Averages about $5.00. What’s a poor wino to do?

Tallywhagger

Thirty twice!

Who drinks the most?

Tallywhagger

Answer:

Us culud folk!

Akpual47

50 twice.

Tallywhagger

Inflation, I guess.

e.

Ya mean Rosie O’D the attention hoer?

SgtM

Brats and burgers for everyone. My one day throne shall be transported outside where I will reign over the end of summer festivities. No throwing water balloons at the throne.

Odie

HOT title until veterans day? Hope you have lots of brats and burgers cause we will be hungry again before that.

SgtM

After today it shall be 1st generation MRE’s. Everyone should suffer as I did in the 80’s. It will save on toilet paper in the penis covered porta potties also.

Odie

The chicklets should be rock hard by now.

Warren Peece

I still remember my first MRE at Knox, summer ’85…. the legendary dehydrated pork patty

SFC D

My first was October ‘87, Jackson. Dehydrated beef patty.

26Limabeans

B-2 unit, beans and meatballs.
Sop it up with that hockey puck
biscuit and crackers.

SFC D

I learned to eat it dry and chase it with a lot of water.

rgr769

Fortunately, I have never eaten one. You youngsters missed out on the LRRP rations—dehydrated meals. They were made by Oregon Freeze Dried Foods. They still make some of the meals for backpackers.

Awful Cause C

Pork patty was fantastico, beef patty was okay.
My first, on the other hand, was beef slice, with bbq sauce, which had been pitched as “one of the best ones”. In 1988.

7711C20

It could be worse, has anyone been able to rehydrate LRP rations?

RGR 4-78

I have. I liked them, I even ate them dry on occasions.

rgr769

Yes. With hot water, but some meals take over an hour to do so, especially the chili meal.

26Limabeans

If a woman goes into labor on Labor Day will she have twins?

Congrats to SgtM for the win.

Hi

Mike B

Last as usual….

In other news Randy “Duke” Cunningham passed away.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/randy-duke-cunningham-vietnam-war-011926687.html

Mike
USAF Retired

Tallywhagger

He was one hell of fighter pilot, despite his woeful failure as a Congressman.

Mason

So was Göring.

I actually might do Cunningham for the VF this week. What he and Driscoll did was epic.

Blaster

He got caught doing what EVERY ONE OF THE REST OF THEM DO!!!

Odie

Arrive DC a near pauper, leave DC with untold wealth. Seriously, I’m not telling you where my wealth came from. How can you expect me to live on 6 figures per year plus per diem.

rgr769

Yes, there is a certain Somali fraudster woman in Congress who came here under a false name and nearly penniless who is now worth over $25 million.

Odie

Slightly OT, but there’s a governor in the federal reserve who has bought 3 houses, 2 of them within days of each other, and claimed all 3 as primary residences. When somebody tried to fire her, she said she was going nowhere. I’m sometimes a little dense in my thinking, but how does one live in 3 houses in separate states at the same time. What am I missing that would help me connect the dots.

Tallywhagger

An apartment building or townhouses is a fairly common scheme.

Twenty-something as I once again say “persent and unaccountable” as I once again award myself yet another Honorary First.

((((OVER))))

Anyone else see the clip about some roach turd of a billionaire stealing a hat from a kid that was autographed by a Tennis Star? He’s spazzing all over the place about the backlash, and I’m enjoying some schadenfreude from it!

Tallywhagger

The tennis pro really seized the moment in that sad story, made me smile for both of them.

Graybeard

A class act for sure.

Graybeard

Yeah, the billionaire Polish CEO who’s threatening legal action if you slander him.

Boy, it ain’t slander if it is true. And everyone on the interwebz knows you are a slimy scumbag who will steal from a child.

Amateur Historian

I’ll get in on that action:

Ahem. Mr. Szczerek. You are a dick biscuit.

rgr769

You are safe; that is opinion and not a statement of fact.

Odie

Is it an opinion because he can’t prove he’s a biscuit ?

rgr769

Yes. But if you had just said he was a “dick” you might be in trouble. No one knows what a dick biscuit is. So that qualifier saved you from liability for a defamatory statement of fact.

26Limabeans

Yeah, I saw that and was impressed by the shocked face
on the kid. Even he could not believe an adult would be so
much of an asshole. Good lesson and I hope he chooses
military service as a career.

Amateur Historian

Good afternoon you gents! I’m present and accounted for this HOT. I have nothing to add other than this:

fm2176

Well, Labor Day’s winding on down. I got the radiator in yesterday, along with the motor mount. Today I finally got tired of looking at the new over-the-stovetop microwave sitting on the floor and installed it. For those who have Exchange privileges and aren’t aware, AAFES has partnered with a few companies, including The Home Depot and Bass Pro Shops, so you can log in through shopmyexchange.com and take advantage of special pricing and tax-free shopping. It seems that the whole websites aren’t available, though; I tried digging through BPS and it seems it’s mostly clothing and some gear, so no ordering a firearm tax-free and picking it up at my former employer. Anyway, I ordered a new fridge, microwave, and dishwasher a while back. The dishwasher is going to wait awhile, until I replace the kitchen cabinets and counters. Then it will be time for a new oven and cook top.

I also finally upgraded my old Samsung A13 phone. After 3.5 years, it was about out of storage and running slow. I wanted to order the Tank 3 rugged phone but just got a free upgrade through my carrier, to an A36. No need for the full Galaxy phone. All three of my new appliances are also Samsung, and I connected the fridge and microwave to my phone earlier. Power cool works… last I checked the fridge was down from the normal 34-degrees to 22-degrees.

Now, it’s about time to put the body cam mount back on the vest. I used my Ryobi power scrubber with some Ariel detergent powder and Oxi-Clean to wash out the last couple of months of funk earlier today and reassembled the vest an hour ago. After that, I’ll be turning off the oven clean cycle (my late-’70s vintage GE double wall oven only has a cleaning cycle on the upper oven, the lower requires Easy-Off and scrubbing) and making strombolis for dinner.

Green Thumb

My dog just dropped a huge, steaming pile of Phil Monkress in my neighbor’s yard.

Odie

Do you like your neighbor? Or should you leave it.
