Fatal shooting in Phillips County ruled self defense

A Poplar Grove man will not face charges in connection with a July shooting that left one man dead and another injured, the Arkansas State Police announced Tuesday.First Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Todd Murray found that Decorick Farr, 41, was acting in self defense when he shot and killed William “Red” Henderson, 38, on July 5, State Police said in a news release.
The shooting occurred around 2:15 a.m. in the 300 block of Phillips County Road 113.
Henderson was pronounced dead at Helena Regional Medical Center.
Another man, a 47-year-old who was not identified in a police news release, was taken to an area hospital and was in stable condition following the incident.
Farr was initially arrested on a charge of first-degree murder.
The Phillips County sheriff’s office requested an investigation by the State Police, who submitted their findings to Murray’s office for review.

A disabled Elkton, Maryland man will not face charges after fatally stabbing a 14-year-old during a brutal group assault linked to a local gang. Prosecutors ruled the incident was a clear case of self-defense under Maryland law.
ELKTON, MD (2-minute read) — A 14-year-old boy is dead and a disabled man has been cleared of all charges after a violent gang-related confrontation in Elkton, Maryland, was ruled as a case of justified self-defense.
The July 18 incident began when a group of nine individuals, allegedly connected to a local gang, ambushed a man identified only as “Ty” over a drug debt. Ty, who has a physical disability and an amputated left arm, was followed and attacked with makeshift weapons including a two-by-four and a shovel in the Hollingsworth Manor neighborhood.
