Just 36% of Democrats are proud to be an American
Democrat voting patterns seem to tell a story. They vote in droves against prohibiting transgendered “women” from competing in women’s sports. They argue against initiatives to deport illegal aliens. They seem to be opposed to real efforts to minimize “welfare leaching”. One common thread among initiatives considered an abomination to the Democrats? These initiatives contribute to making America great.

Democrat respondents’ pride appeared to be more affected by which party held the White House, a factor which may play a role in the recent plunge. The first and second Trump administrations coincide with both major dips in Democrat patriotism. In response to these statistics, Brad Smith, law professor at Capital University Law School, suggested in a post on X that Democrats’ pride hinges more in their success as a party than consistent loyalty to the nation as a whole.

Another notable distinction can be seen generationally. Even among Republicans, younger people expressed consistently less pride in being American than the generations prior. While 77% of Democrats and 92% of Republicans among the Greatest and Silent Generations responded that they were proud to be American from 2016-2025, only 24% and 65% of Democrats and Republicans, respectively, in Generation Z responded likewise.
While Democrat respondents’ pride in being American has consistently been lower than Republicans’, the severe plunge from 80% to 36% in a ten-year span is novel and striking. This shift in sentiment is manifesting culturally as well. Over the past several years, popular culture has repeatedly downplayed and undermined national pride, instead advertising a critical stance.
The New York Times published an article in 2023 with the headline, “No More Sparklers for These Folks,” anecdotally listing the downsides of celebrating the Fourth of July both ideologically and practically. A related sentiment is echoed in the Reader’s Digest article, “I’m a Black American — Here’s Why I’m Not Celebrating the Fourth of July,” published in 2024. Similarly, elite academic institutions have increasingly promoted anti-American rhetoric in their teaching and literature, such as Harvard Gazette’s article, “Why America Can’t Escape it’s Racist Roots.”
Not only has popular culture and academia betrayed patriotic sentiment; the Democrat platform has joined these institutions in anti-Americanism, advocating open borders, critical race theory, gender ideology, and socialist policies. It is not surprising that between mainstream culture and their own party’s platform, their constituents lack pride in being American.

The red line is consistent and the blue line peaks and valleys with whoever is in the White House. Before the new president is even sworn in the Democrats say it is the end of America and Nazis are taking over (kings now is it? Lol).

They believe that America = The Federal Government aka Uncle Sugar. I don’t know a single Republican who believes that. America is WE THE PEOPLE. It is the freedom and ideas that come with the people not whoever is sitting in a chair at the time.
I’ve always been proud of my country even when I despised the occupant of the Oval Office.
Even when dementia man was in. I was worried about the country like one worries about a sick or aging parent, but still loved her.

Because there is no place else on earth, in the history of mankind, that was predicated on the ideals upon which we were founded and towards which we still strive.
God Bless this imperfect Union, and thanks be to God I was fortunate enough to be born in this land.
This, for all its flaws, is still worth fighting for and I am grateful to be alive in these troubled times. It is easy to be a summer soldier and sunshine patriot. Being patriotic at this point in our history somehow means a little bit more and I’m here to do my part with my whole heart and soul.

Love is often about sacrifice, staying with something through good times and bad, knowing the best and worst in someone or something and still loving them anyway. It is very hard for people who believe they are owed something for being born to understand this.

NO-PD, go figure. I see a lot of ghettofabulous cops around my area. Nothing personal against them — they do a job that few want — but I just wonder how effective they’d be in a force-on-force situation. I’ve got a thing for women in uniform, and there are plenty of cute cops. I mostly don’t discriminate, but I like ones that look more business than pleasure; even a 5’2″ 120 female cop that’s situationally aware and not going out of her way to looked all dolled up has my respect. The ones who look like amateur female bodybuilders with tattoos for days aren’t normally my type, but they catch my eye in uniform.
But for some reason, a lot of cops feel the need to accentuate their formidable backsides (more cushion for when they get knocked to the ground?) and wear fake nails and eyelashes. I see some who aren’t in normal uniforms (duty belt and all) that just have a holster slapped on their side with zero retention, much less any attention from the wearer, who are usually caught up in their phone.

I’m about use racism and slavery as an example of their reasoning to hate our country, and how facts, don’t support their thinking. Not changing the subject.
They hate America and it ALWAYS goes back, at least in some part, to racism, slavery, etc. I have heard many times about 400 years of oppression and slavery, but this country is only 249 years old. Slavery was much more accepted and practiced under the English government. When the U.S. took its independence from England, it abolished slavery 70+ years later. While 70 years is a long time, historically speaking, that’s rather fast. The left NEVER gives the US credit for the things it got right, the wrongs that were corrected, the good it has done and continues to do. All over the world!
So slavery in America went on for almost 300 years. The US takes its independence from England and abolishes slavery 70+ years after. According to the left, slavery is the fault of the U.S., always has been and always will be, even though slavery was practiced under the U.S. government for only 70years, but practiced under other governments for much longer.
For it to be the sole fault of the U.S., there were a lot of other countries involved in it. Spain, England, Denmark, Portugal, countless African countries, etc., before arriving here.
Now, they think that deportation of illegal immigrants is racist. What I have been seeing is ALL illegals getting deported ( I will agree that the majority are POC, but that’s due to there being more of them). So is it still racist to deport an illegal if they are white?
BTW, slavery is still practiced in some places in the world. I witnessed some of this with my own eyes. Not hearing a peep from the left on addressing the current slaves. Only how terrible the U.S. is.

I heard that Saudi Arabia banned slavery in the NINETEEN sixties, but it’s still practiced there, especially to their Servants, mostly Muslim. Slave markets today? Yes, in Libya and Sudan to name two places, and guess what the prevailing religion is in both? I’ll offer three guesses, but the first two don’t count!
I think that we may have slogged through some of the same mud. To see it happening in another country and then to return home and hear the complaining about a 200 year old wrong that was already righted, almost 200 years ago is frustrating.
Was/ is everything perfect? NO! But do most of us try? YES!

Well, I’ll help them pack. In our 249 years the US has done more good for the world than any other country. I’m sure Britain will take them back if they are so unhappy.
The Democrat Party should be required to change its name to the Progressive Hate America Party. I was actually a member of the old Democratic Party for almost 25 years, until I finally wised up.
Democrats, and liberals in general, are essentially spoiled children. When they get their way, all is good. When things happen that hurt their “fee-fees”, then the end is nigh. Trump Part the First was the End of America. It didn’t happen. Trump Part the Second will see the end of democracy, as he passes his crown to his chosen successor. Only, it won’t happen. In three years, we’ll be in the midst of another presidential election year. If the Left loses, America will face yet another existential crisis in their minds. If the Left wins (especially with a Democrat who can check more victim-class boxes than ever before), it’s proof of how resilient America is, and we’ll see proud Democrats polling in the 90% area again.
The problem is, the Dems need to run the status quo (old White men) to have a chance at winning the presidency. They’ve done alright with lower-level elections so far, even potentially getting a Communist into the NYC mayor’s office, but on a national level, we’re not quite ready for another diverse President. Obama got his, Hillary jumped the gun and lost, and Kamala was a joke of a candidate.
What the Dems need to satisfy their more “progressive” supporters, though, is the very thing they claim to espouse: a multi-minority candidate for the presidency. The more blocks that person can check, the better, which is why I think that the 2028 campaign should feature a homeless autistic bi-racial gay Muslim transman with an 8th-grade education, multiple felony convictions, and a clubfoot.
Well if they aren’t proud of their country, they should go move to one they can be proud of. Yesterday would be soon enough.
