Dispensary employee in South Gate fatally shoots alleged suspect during attempted break-in
A dispensary employee fatally shot an alleged suspect during an attempted break-in in South Gate Tuesday night.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the South Gate police received a call around 11:10 p.m. about a robbery taking place on the 5800 block of Imperial Highway.
The sheriff’s department said that although the business is listed as Savage Mobile, it is actually a dispensary.
When police arrived, they found an employee who claimed the suspect, armed with a gun, tried to rob the business. That’s when he shot him.
The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Police also recovered two firearms from the scene.
The employee was taken in by police and is being interviewed by detectives. The sheriff’s department said he is being cooperative and is currently not in custody.

Shooting on Burlington Avenue under investigation in Billings

BILLINGS, Mont. – A shooting took place on Burlington Avenue in Billings following a neighborhood disturbance.Law enforcement officials responded to the incident around 11:00 a.m. Captain Kent O’Donnell and Sheriff Mike Linder provided information about the response. Officers and medical personnel were called to the scene after a dispute between two male neighbors escalated, resulting in one being shot.
Sheriff Linder stated that the victim was transported to the hospital and was conscious and speaking at the time.
The shooter involved has been released without charges, according to an official update given by Sheriff Linder. Authorities indicate that the individual acted in self-defense at his home.
The case will be reviewed by the County Attorney for any further action. Names and the medical condition of the person who was shot have not been disclosed.

The City of Seattle PD had 845 officers at the end of last year vs a requirement of 1500. While a number of cities have bounced back with their department size the Seattle City Council remains antagonistic with their department and focuses on hiring politically “the right kind of people”.
Real Starting pay for new hires is about $120k the first year for new hires and $160k a year for lateral entry. Yet, they are still unable to fill academy classes. They are projecting to shrink further in 2025.
When you treat the folks you want to work for you like crap, no one should be surprised when the position goes vacant. Anyone even remotely inclined to be a Cop there knows damn well the council will gleefully throw you under the bus and prosecute you for doing the job.
Given that the next mayor of nyc is the latest dem socialist that won the dem primary there, you can bet there will be a rapid decrease in the number of Officers as they leave to a better location. That mayor wants to gut the PD and I have no doubt he will do so. Another third world city about to be born in the US.
If I were in charge of federal law enforcement, I would prioritize my efforts in areas where there is sufficient local resources to benefit by a reinforcement of federal effort. Same with ICE efforts. And make it clear to the public why/how I was prioritizing. If this sounds like red states, I’m sure that’s just a coincidence. In short, I would leave Dem-run areas to fester and it would be clear it was happening as a result of their own policies. Let the voters get sick of it and vote out the causes. Then I would bring down the federal hammer. Sorry, no federal largesse until the locals have done at least a bare minimum AND learned what policies work and which are failures, and voted out those who pursue failed policies.
