Suspect claims self-defense after shooting man in Napier neighborhood
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, and the suspect later turned himself in and explained what led to the shooting.

By Danica Sauter and Tony Garcia
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – An injured man is facing charges upon his release from the hospital after an alleged robbery attempt went wrong Monday night in the J.C. Napier neighborhood.

According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, 20-year-old Stile Felton-Patterson and 23-year-old Thomas Long were inside a Dodge Dart parked off Lafayette Street when Felton-Patterson was shot. Officers responded to the scene around 5 p.m. and rendered aid before medics arrived and transported him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Detectives tracked down surveillance footage that showed Felton-Patterson walk up to the car and get in the passenger seat. According to MNPD’s report, an altercation occurred between the men, and Felton-Patterson is seen falling out of the car and running away.

He later threw a gun toward a nearby witness and collapsed on the ground. Detectives recovered two firearms from that same witness, according to the report.

Officers at the scene initially reported that Felton-Patterson was shot in the torso and the injury was non-life-threatening, but his condition was listed as critical in MNPD’s report on Tuesday.

Long arrived at the downtown detention center later Monday night and claimed he shot Felton-Patterson in self-defense. He told detectives that Felton-Patterson was trying to rob him at gunpoint when he responded by shooting him with his own firearm.

Long’s self-defense claim is under investigation. Meanwhile, unrelated charges await Felton-Patterson when his discharged from the hospital. He faces aggravated robbery, aggravated burglary, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony charges stemming from a June 2023 hold-up at a Brink Haven Avenue apartment.

Oakland: Two men shot Tuesday afternoon near City Hall
Both men shot were later arrested

By Caelyn Pender
OAKLAND — A confrontation Tuesday afternoon near Oakland City Hall left two men shot and both later arrested, authorities said.

Both men — one 51 and the other 28 — were in stable condition. Both are Oakland residents and know each other, authorities said.

The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the edge of the Oakland City Hall plaza near the intersection of 14th Street and Broadway, authorities said.

Initial reports were that the 51-year-old man was with a group of other people who were approached by the 28-year-old man, authorities said. There was some kind of confrontation that ended with the 51-year-old man hitting the 28-year-old man with a chair, authorities said.

The 28-year-old man then allegedly pulled a gun and shot the 51-year-old man in the abdomen, authorities said.

As the 28-year-old man was trying to run away, he was shot in the leg by another person, authorities said. That shooter is still being sought.

Both men shot were taken by ambulance to a hospital.

They were both placed under arrest at the hospital, the 28-year-old man on suspicion of assault with a firearm and the 51-year-old man on suspicion of assault with a weapon other than a firearm, authorities said.

Police have not yet offered a potential motive for the confrontation.

Chair to a gunfight and a second shooter in the wind, hmmm. That’s a new one. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

A chair to a gunfight .
That’s a fresh page for our three ring 3″ loose leaf binder of T2NB2AGF. It’s been awhile.
And I hope the Mystery Shooter never gets ID’d, never turns himself in, and stays a Mystery. And BTW, good shootin’.

Should have charged them both just for being in a Dodge Dart. Ewww…

Wellllll……you COULD say that a “drug deal gone right” is where the seller & the buyer come together, exchange drugs for money, and both just walk away without trying to shank each other.
But that would involve maturity and sparking of more than one brain cell. In which case (maturity, brain cells), most likely neither one would be selling or buying drugs.

When I was in my NYC grade school, the teachers taught the 3 R’s, reading righting and rythmatic. Every morning we stood up and pledged aligance to our flag which was the stars and stripes flag and not a multi colored rag. their was a speaker on the wall that also played something but after 74 year, I can’t remember what it was besides the principal saying something.

Same here. Teachers were at least basically patriotic (because, you know, it was their job) but, today, they’re a bunch of anti-American c*cksuckers:

National Anthem was played at my grade school in San Diego. In the morning on the loud speaker.

I remember at assembly during high school, the Principle standing at the podium, trying to speak and being disrupted by students talking. When he announced, “every time I open my mouth, some idiot speaks” . Hysterical laughter could be heard across the assembled mass

A different “feel good” story:

On April 16, 2025, Deputy A. Whisman was headed home from an extra job when he observed a vehicle occupied by a male driver who was driving erratic. Deputy Whisman conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for the traffic violation. Upon contacting the driver and only occupant of the vehicle, Deputy Whisman could tell that the driver was very emotional and appeared to be distressed, so he asked the driver if he was okay. The driver began speaking with Deputy Whisman and explained to him that he had just retired from the military, after serving for 22 years. He then told Deputy Whisman that his wife of 19 years had just left him, and that he was having a very bad night to the point that he was planning on taking his own life when he got home. Deputy Whisman sat on the side of the road and spoke with the male for several minutes to help him take a different path. By the end of the conversation, the male looked at Deputy Whisman and told him that he was his, “saving angel.” The male also told Deputy Whisman that had it not been for his kindness and compassion of the situation that he was in, that he would have gone home and carried out his plans of ending his life.

The morning after the stop Deputy Whisman was informed by his Lieutenant that the male from the traffic stop had brought him a gift and a note. The male gave Deputy Whisman an Official US Naval True North Compass that was presented to him at his last post as Chief. The note reads as follows:

Austin,

Sometimes when we’re fighting demons, God sends us help. I was in a hurry to complete a mission, but you stopped me and lent a kind ear.

You treated me with compassion, dignity, and respect.

PoPo get a bad rap these days… but you’re the kind we need!

Please accept this coin as a small token of gratitude.

I think Springfield is a real winner with the xdm series of pistols. And the Springfield XDM Elite 10mm is my favorite pistol, w/Holson 507c, and extended threaded barrel. The Echelon is a top notch pistol.
