Top 5 examples of government waste: DOGE

May not be the biggest bucks, but they certainly contend  for most outrageous!

*$132,000 to  Taliban official (Mohammad Qasem Halimi, a former Taliban member who was Afghanistan’s former Chief of Protocol) by the United States Institute of Peace (who?)

Halimi was detained by the U.S. and held at Bagram Air Base for a year beginning Jan. 2, 2002. He held several positions in Afghanistan’s government following his release and was appointed as the Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs in Afghanistan in 2020.

“A small agency called the United States Institute of Peace is definitely the agency we’ve had the most fight at. We actually went into the agency and found they had loaded guns inside their headquarters — Institute for Peace,” a DOGE staffer told Watters. “So by far, the least peaceful agency that we’ve worked with, ironically. Additionally, we found that they were spending money on things like private jets,…”

*Over $200,000,000,000 in Covid relief funds spent by school districts with little or no accountability. Those extra three zeroes are NOT a typo. $200 billion.

Granite School District in Utah spent their COVID-relief funds on $86,000 in hotel rooms for an educational conference at Caesars Palace, a ritzy Las Vegas casino, while Santa Ana Unified in California spent $393,000 to rent out a Major League Baseball stadium,…

The cost-cutting department also revealed that schools spent $60,000 of COVID-relief funds on swimming pool passes, while a California district used its funds to purchase an ice cream truck.

*Joni Ernst (LTCOL, Ret.,  Senator R-IA) released that USAID spent $20,000,000 to create an Iraqi “Sesame Street.”

Ernst said that under the Biden administration, USAID awarded the $20 million to a nonprofit called Sesame Workshop to produce a show called “Ahlan Simsim Iraq” in an effort to “promote inclusion, mutual respect and understanding across ethnic, religious and sectarian groups.”

Seems to me a simple phone call “be polite or we make rubble and then bounce the rubble” would have been a lot cheaper.

*Next, agencies made $162,000,000,000 in “improper payments” :

75% of the waste found was concentrated in five programs: $54 billion from three Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Medicare programs; $31 billion in HHS Medicaid; $16 billion from the Department of the Treasury’s earned income tax credit; $11 billion from the Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program; and $9 billion from the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) Restaurant Revitalization Fund.

And that $162 billion was actually $74,000,000,000 LESS than the year before.

*And last we have “hundreds of millions” in DEI programs. This isn’t things like spurious deletion of Medal of Honor awardees, removing Tuskegee Airman photos and history – no, this is some serious cash.

DOGE has announced over the last few months that it has cut hundreds of millions in DEI contracts.

Earlier this month, DOGE announced it had worked with the U.S. National Science Foundation to cancel 402 “wasteful” DEI grants, which will save $233 million, including $1 million for “Antiracist Teacher Leadership for Statewide Transformation.”  Fox News

Some of the targets mentioned include DEI training in the Air Force, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (really?) and $100,000,000 just to Education’s DEI programs. Fun read.

Be real careful touting savings from…

DOGE has announced over the last few months that it has cut hundreds of millions in DEI contracts.

When the government terminates a contract did they T for D or T for C. (terminate for default or terminate for convenience of government) I’d bet the latter in most cases.

Yet PFC Snuffy will be charged for a poncho if it gets destroyed/lost during training.

Claw

8405-00-935-3257 Plain Jane Lightweight Wet Weather Poncho (OG-207) Cost: $75.33 to $125.55 (depending on service life, first introduced into the Army inventory in June 1967)

Awful Cause C

That item is “DISCONTINUED WITHOUT REPLACEMENT “, although still priced at $18.40.
2022 FEDLOG directs to use 8405-01-100-0976, which, curiously, is “WOODLAND CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN “(?) and priced at $50.28.

Then there’s the ACU one, Multicam and now Skorpion W2, plus the Marines’ Wooland and Desert MARPAT stuff. (Navy’s smurfberry version is probably a collector’s item.)

This entire list is bullshit.

Commissioner Wretched

You never get tired of being wrong, do you?

If they wanted to know what the school COVID money was spent on they could have asked the GAO.

Iraqi Sesame Street has been around since 2007.

Iraqi Jerry Springer would’ve meant more of a change over there.

Here are before and after videos. You can see where the money went lol.

Iraqi “Sesame Street.”

“Hey look honey, this is the one where Bert and Ernie get thrown off a roof top for buggery.”

Prior Service (RET)

Iraqi Sesame Street: “One pound of Homemade Explosives for my IED. Ha ha ha. Two pounds of explosives for my IED. Ha ha ha.”

Hack Stone

Dat’s a good one.

Da Count, counting his IED’s?

The worst part of what DOGE is doing is that when the demcrats get back in power they will reverse all the money saving actions taking place. And may even make payments retroactive. DOGE needs to be a permanent program enacted through the house and senate.

Keep cutting!

Someone should check out All-Points Logistics.

Commissar

You guys are so damn full of shit with these blog posts.

DOGE has nothing to do with corruption or waste.

If it didn’t they wouldn’t have removed the IGs, the wooodbr have removed the public corruption unit, they would be using forensic accountants on their team – not script kid incels, they would be keeping careful records -not destroying documents, and they would not be ignoring the DoD.

This is about the “Iraqi Sesame Street” money well spent.

And the $20 billion on Covid relief funds only seems large if you don’t understand the scale of our country. There are 130,000 K-12 schools and nearly 70,000,000 students.

This comes not to about $100 per student per fiscal year during the pandemic.

And spending money on education is not a waste of government funds.

Reddit is even less a valid source than Wikipedia, Lars.

Have yourself a TRUMP Day, Major Moonbat! 😀😀😀 It’s mainly YOUR side that has been mega-wasting money for decades with many a politician getting lavish kickbacks from it, and AS TO continuously spending moer and more money on public education, then ‘splain to us how the worst public education takes place in locales where they spend the MOST, places run by D-rats, starting with Baltimore!

Reddawg_03

REDDIT? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Deckie

I remember a professor told us once if we ever used Wikipedia as a source, he’d stop reading and promptly stamp our papers with an F right there and then.

Reddit is no different.

I thought you went to UCB…?

A Proud Infidel®™

In more than one Military School I attended during my career, we had to do research and present reports, and we were told in no uncertain terms that Wikipedia WAS NOT a legitimate source of info and using it would result in a “NO-GO”!

SFC D

Wikipedia is entertaining but a really bad source. However… the references that are listed at the bottom of a Wikipedia article can be very good 😉

DocV

That’s exactly what I tell my students. Same with Chat GPT, etc.

Jimbojszz

its a waste of funds when it’s spent on items other than education. The core item schools are supposed to do. Not Gym memberships, or hotels, or ice cream trucks, etc.. You’re a dummy and you can’t help yourself, please try to think on your own. You’re so brainwashed by the left talking heads. Come up and get some air.

Odie

Looks like Harvard and Yale need to raise money now that the gravy train spigot has been turned to the off position.

Somebody smarter than I can explain why they are doing this, unless those more than several billion tax exempt dollars in reserve don’t buy as much as one would think.

Schools like “Haahvuhd” and Yale are entities that are very hard for me to feel sorry for!

Odie

Agreed.

Lol. GFY. Awwwww. Did someone cut off your mysterious pallets of pavers?
