CHICAGO — A man trying to break into a car in the Austin neighborhood on the city’s West Side overnight was caught by the car’s owner, a retired Chicago police officer, and shot in the right shoulder when the retired officer’s gun discharged during an ensuing struggle.

Initial police reports indicated that just before 2:30 a.m. Thursday, a 53-year-old man was attempting to break into a vehicle in the 300 block of North Mayfield Avenue when he was confronted by the vehicle’s owner, who fired a shot.

A source confirmed to WGN the vehicle owner is a retired Chicago police officer.

The suspect was hit in the right shoulder, according to police, and taken to an area hospital by Chicago Fire Department personnel, where he was listed in good condition.

I have no doubt the retired LEO knows the drill from here.

No reason he should be in custody, except for the California part. Thanks, Gun Bunny.

It doesn’t require a majority to prevail…but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires to people’s minds

The first incident. I hope the retired Chicago Officer has a good attorney. The city of austin may be located in Texas, but it isn’t really Texas in austin. They will take the shooting as a ND and probably file charges on him.

I attended the 2010 National Hurricane Conference in Austin Texas and didn’t see one person with a cowboy hat or boots. this was at the Austin conference center. All I saw were college kids. The Texas brisket and the toast was great. That was also the year I had the .9MM stone removed when I returned. Before I left for Texas, I had a cat scan and my uroligst says I had 9MM stone and Doc says, do you know how large 9MM is and I said sure Doc, I carry one. Got a chuckle.

At least it wasn’t 12.7mm but……..😬
Passing a stone that size is the closest a man can come to giving birth.
If it actually was in the .355-.357 range, you could have handloaded it!

These two (2) citizens might shoulda practiced the some of the esses (Shoot shovel shut up). Self defense these days is like Real Estate…location.location.location.

As for myself, I am getting irate about the screeching moonbat (ht2 API) minority. We should be keen and tireless to gather them up and throw them into a brush fire.

After reading up on the Chiappa I understand better why Mrs. D had such a tight grip on SFC D’s credit card the other day whilst they were roaming thru the “toy store”. Rather spendy, indeed, for what it is. My Mossy Maverick was about 1/10th the price and will put six bad guys on ice, man if they come into the danger zone. Full disclosure…I did have some stirrings in my nether regions over it’s “cool” factor.
