Baseball record to be set
Nope, nothing even vaguely military….but fun.
Monday, the AA league amateur Boston Red Sox and Toronto Blue Jays finish out a rain-delayed game from earlier in the year.
The player to watch is Danny Jansen, a 7 year veteran (of baseball, not our style) Boston catcher. For you challenged folks who don’t watch baseball, that’s the heavily padded fella behind the plate who ain’t dressed in blue.
Jansen was a member of the Blue Jays for the original game, but he was traded to Boston on July 27. Red Sox manager Alex Cora confirmed that Jansen will be substituted into the lineup when the matchup resumes, meaning Jansen will be on record as playing for both teams in the same game. Yahoo Sports
Major league baseball having been around well over a century, it’s hard to believe that no one has ever been in this position before. Nope, this is history in the making, and yet another bar trivia item. “Who is the only player to play for both teams in the same game” now joins “Who got a hit for two teams in one day?” (Joel Youngblood, who was traded from the Mets after an early game to the Expos and singled for Montreal in a game that night. )

Hack Stone saw a video on Fakebook about two weeks ago where a Minor League player was traded while he was on base in active game.
Switching sides…but in a G rated way.
Expect his family to publicly disown him, much like what is happening to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
I was gonna say RFK JR beat him to the punch, at least in politics.
And now Tulsi Gabbard is endorsing Donald Trump. As a sign to mend fences, the Democrat National Committee are inviting Robert Kenny and Tulsi Gabbard to a midnight picnic at Fort Marcy Park. Hillary will provide the potato salad.
And naturally the guy who had two hits for different teams on the same day was one of my Mets originally
Iffen My Man CW drops by and sees you been scarfing up his trivia tid bits, he gonna get yore azz!
King, I added this little bit of trivia to my master file this morning. I don’t mind if David helps out my work to spread trivia to the masses! But thank you for having my six on this one, my friend.
Added trivia – when the original was called for rain, Jansen was batting for Toronto.
Maybe they should dress the umps like the catchers.

That will leave your ears ringing.
Indeed. Can you imagine if a close play at the plate? New York would have to make the call as it would have to done under review.
Carlton Fisk would have told him to stop crying and walk it off.
