Bystander shoots robbery suspect to death outside north Houston gas station, police say
Police said the suspect hit one of the victims with a gun before demanding his wallet.

HOUSTON — A man is dead after police say he attempted to rob someone who was pumping gas at a north Houston gas station early Saturday morning.This happened shortly after 12:30 a.m. on Ella Boulevard at Greens Parkway just north of the Sam Houston Tollway.
Police said the robbery victims had pulled up to the gas station to get gas when the suspected robber came up and hit one of the victims with a gun and demanded his wallet. As the suspect started to run off, a bystander parked nearby opened fire, hitting the suspect in the upper extremities, according to the Houston Police Department.
Surveillance video obtained by KHOU 11’s Katiera Winfrey appears to show that the incident lasted roughly ten seconds.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital in critical condition where he later died.
HPD said the shooter took off but the robbery victims stayed at the scene and were cooperating with investigators.

Carjacking suspect shot multiple times by would-be victim, NOPD says
NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A man who was trying to carjack someone was shot multiple times by the would-be victim, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The victim, an adult male, was reportedly targeted by 23-year-old Johnathan Edwards in the 7300 block of Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East around 2 a.m. on Jan. 26.
Police say Edwards pulled on the door handle and told the victim to get out.
The victim fired shots at Edwards, striking him multiple times, the NOPD said.

I went thru boot camp with a TRW made M14. Came to love that rifle. I fired sharpshooter missing expert by 1 point. I could tear up the 100 yard offhand but started to fall thru my ass at the 500 yard line. I was sorely disappointed when issued a Mickey Mouse M16 at my first duty station.

Navy Boot Camp had the M-1 Garand on the range and we had the M-1 Garand onboard the LPH 3 along with the other WW2 small arms. Got the M-1 Thumb onboard the ship and that was the one and only time. Inactive Navy Reserve had us up at Camp Smith NY on weekends for M-1 Quals. Marine BLT members on board the ship didn’t know what the names of the small arms were except the Colt 1911.
At RangerSchool, we were issued beat up M-14’s. They could take a licking and keep on ticking.

I ‘spect that surveillance footage could lead to the shooter being identified.
