Union thugs beat nurses in MI
Gateway Pundit reported earlier today that hundreds of Service Employees International Union thugs busted up a Michigan nurses conference, forcing their way into the meeting and sending at least one to the hospital;
When the chanting protesters entered, waving noisemakers, they and others quickly formed a double line in front of the doors, linking arms to block the way. Some participants were thrown to the ground by larger SEIUers. One protestor broke through the first line and, finding himself trapped between the two lines, flailed wildly. Former Labor Notes office manager Dianne Feeley, a retiree from American Axle, was pushed and fell, cutting her head, and was treated at an emergency room. Protesters continued to try to advance toward the doors, some nonviolently and others more aggressively.
Hotel security and Dearborn police eventually made their presence felt. They made no arrests. After chanting “we’ll be back,” the protesters returned to their buses (according to hotel security there were six buses).
The New York Sun reported that the SEIU denies the report from the staff of Labor Notes;
SEIU officials disputed that account, but they acknowledged that a skirmish took place. According to their version, 800 members — mostly women — showed up at the conference for a peaceful protest.
An Oakland judge has issued an injunction against the SEIU to prevent them from harassing members of the California Nurses Association stemming from the Michigan incident (SF Gate link);
The two-week temporary restraining order by Jon Rantzman of Alameda County Superior Court names SEIU International President Andy Stern and requires that SEIU members keep 100 yards away from organizers of the nurses union, which is headquartered in Oakland.
The order, issued Wednesday, followed a petition filed Tuesday by the CNA National Nurses Organizing Committee alleging that SEIU members violently disrupted a Michigan labor meeting Saturday attended by CNA members.
The nurses’ petition also claimed that groups of SEIU agents have appeared at the homes of CNA leaders in the past week demanding in “a very loud, menacing fashion” that the CNA leaders come outside.
The SEIU is the strike force for Democrats and the Left in general. They were bused into DC from New York City for at least one anti-war protest a year ago last January to boost numbers. I was unfortunate enough to be on one of their subway trains packed full by their wranglers whom I watched them prevent another private citizen from taking pictures of them in their garish purple attire. SEIU Nevada is being investigated by the Labor Department for irregularities in their own elections.
The SEIU also sends protesters to Walter Reed every Friday night to harass the wounded troops returning from Iraq.

SEIU has promised not to do this again. Because next time they’ll be wearing BROWN SHIRTS.
I grew up in MI and it is a ginormous union state. I remember when United Food and Commercial Workers union was on strike, and they put a bunch of busted glass under my Mom’s car for shopping at the local Kroger’s. Ironically, I was forced ot join the same union when I worked there during the summers later on in high school. Because that’s what every 15 year-old wants to spend his money on: union dues to campaign for some fatso democrat in the union’s pocket.
I’ve got nothing against the right to form unions, but I think the unemployment and poverty rate in Michigan directly correlates with how greedy the union gets. Just a suspicion.
