Valor Friday
Personal matters this week (3/4 of the kids have a stomach bug and we’ve decided right now is a great time to buy a new car) are keeping me busy. I therefore cannot devote the proper time to a full article this week. If that saddens you, I commiserate. I enjoy writing these articles, and think they’re important stories to tell.
Since I couldn’t spend a day or two writing and researching, I thought I’d pull up a “greatest hit” of my past Valor Friday articles. I discovered since coming on board as an official contributor/editor/moderator here that I’ve posted almost 1,400 articles. Looking at the articles that have gotten the most comments from you guys, I had to go to page 36 (of 70) to find the first VF one. The top VF post (ranked by comments) was from just a few months ago. The second highest, will be today’s repost. As it is a valor story I’m quite fond of, I’m glad to see it strike near the top of the list.
Private William Othello Wilson. Amazing horseman, deserter (twice), Medal of Honor recipient, and the last black man to receive the MoH for actions on American soil.

No worries thank you for all you do.
I don’t often comment on your work. It is good, thorough and it’s still concise. Oftentimes, your articles cause me to spend a little time to delve more into the background and history of the event. I, like most of the readers here look forward to your article every Friday and appreciate your efforts. Perhaps out of a little selfishness, I will send a prayer for the speedy and full recovery of your family.
I appreciate that. I’m aware that my VF posts are well read, but rarely commented on. They don’t generate major discussions. 🙂
All I can say is that more than a few of your subject matter individuals have stones that far exceed the load capacity of a C5.
I enjoy reading them and wonder if I could do half the stuff they did. Probably not most likely.
Nothing at all wrong with re-runs, Mason. I’ve read and re-read your published tomes several times now. Looking forward to Book IV! (Dahell you waiting on? Your trophy wife to get a headache?) *grin* A Prayer to The Great Healer for your family…and another for the pain of buying a new vehicle. The courage required to face the hassle of that is almost MoH level bravery.
One thought on the low comment count of your articles could be that folks are in awe of these Warriors and words fail them. And in awe of your ability to tell the stories of these Heroes. You write ’em and we’ll keep reading ’em. Salute!…to you and the Warriors.
Is okay.
Mason:
We always look forward in reading your Valor Friday postings…Thank you for taking the time to recognize our Unsung Heroes and educating our TAH readers on their feats and accomplishments.
Keep Up The Great Work…Salute! 🫡
Prayers to You and your Wife and your Munchkins for a speedy recovery!
Thank You for reminding us the story of Corporal Wilson’s MOH “Bravery”.

Enjoy Your New Ride!
I enjoy these, and comment on occasion. Hard to say much more about bona fide badasses, though, so comments are brief and few between. Thanks for all you and the rest of the VG/TAH Crew do!
