20-year-old man shot, killed by law enforcement in DeLand

DELAND, Fla. —
Law enforcement shot and killed a 20-year-old man in DeLand who they say pointed a gun at them during a traffic stop, according to DeLand police Chief Jason D. Umberger. In a news conference Friday, Umberger and Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood explained officers conducted a traffic stop on a wanted vehicle connected to an incident from a week earlier.
A sheriff’s deputy was in the area of Woodland Boulevard and Euclid Avenue Friday at about 1 p.m. when the deputy saw a white Dodge Charger that fled an aggravated assault with a firearm last week. DeLand police also responded to the call.
During the traffic stop, three people were inside the vehicle, including 20-year-old Jayvion Barthel in the backseat.
Officials say Barthel pointed a gun at a DeLand police officer.

Typo, methinks.
Time Traveler perhaps.
MY GF’s mom will be 104 next month so yeah, i’m believing it.
That never happens around here.
It never will again, either.
(Waves hand) “These are not the typos you are looking for.”
“Well, he died. You don’t get any older than that.”

I think I saw her at Range USA the other day!
Never been there, but it’s an option if I ever want to leave Big Retail for a more dedicated gun store… the other guys swear by it and it’s only a couple exits up. For now, I need to start planning more NRA certifications. Got my basic RSO but want to get rifle and pistol instructor.

“…Barthel has a long criminal history dating back to when he was 12 years old,” Welp, he’s retired from all that now.

PSA is almost a meme in the gun world, at least on YouTube. Inexpensive, and lacking some “cool guy” stuff, but I’ve yet to hear much bad about them. Probably 95% of our FFL Transfers come from them, usually the deal of the month, where complete PA-15 lowers are sold for as little as $119. A PSAK came here once but had to be sent back when we couldn’t transfer it. Rules are rules, but if we could have kept it, I’d have probably bought it myself.
