Happy Birthday, U.S. Army!
The Senior Service. The Army was formed on 14 July 1775 , making it the oldest branch of the Armed Forces (official dates for the Navy and Marines 13 October 1775 per Navy.mil and 10 November 1775 per Marines.mil).
The United States Army (USA) is the land service of the United States Armed Forces. It is one of the eight* U.S. Uniformed Services, and is designated as the Army of the United States in the U.S. Constitution. The oldest and most senior branch of the U.S. military in order of precedence, the modern U.S. Army has its roots in the Continental Army, which was formed on 14 June 1775 to fight the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783)—before the United States was established as a country. After the Revolutionary War, the Congress of the Confederation created the United States Army on 3 June 1784 to replace the disbanded Continental Army. The United States Army considers itself to be a continuation of the Continental Army, and thus considers its institutional inception to be the origin of that armed force in 1775.
When used properly for what we are trained for (breaking things and screwing people UP) the best in the world. Happy Birthday!
* In case you are trying to figure out “eight? Huh?” here’s a cheat sheet. Have to admit, I didn’t know NOAA was on the list.
- Army
- Marine Corps
- Navy
- Air Force
- Space Force
- Coast Guard
- Public Health Service Commissioned Corps
- National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Officer Corps
Each of the uniformed services is administratively headed by a federal executive department and its corresponding civilian Cabinet leader.

Three generations. Dad in Germany, Airborne Brother, and Airborne Son.
Wow, Wow, Wow!!
👏👌👍
Three generations in the D family tree. WWI for grandpa, WWII-Korea-Vietnam for dad (he never forgot his Army Air Corps roots), and me.
WWI unusually a great- Aunt with the AEF, WWII my Dad, then me, then SIL a former Marine. Someone in the Canadian Army as well based on family pictures pre-emigration but not sure when in the 1800s.
I don’t have a picture of my Dad’s father in his WWI uniform, but he was Over There as well.
Three Generations for the ninja family as well.
Both of our Paternal GrandDads served in WW1, one in the Army, one in the Navy.
Both of our Dads served Korea-Vietnam in the Army.
Both of us served in the Army.
We also have Siblings, Cousins, Uncles who served in the Army or Navy during WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War Era.
Hotel Bravo Delta Doggies!
At 34 years in the army and all around old guy, I thought for sure I would get the ‘oldest Soldier’ piece of cake this year, but apparently I got edged out by some major who must be older than dirt. So I’m going on leave; they can take their cake! (Actually, heading out for a daughter’s wedding—happy birthday, Army!)
Have a great time at your Daughter’s Wedding!
Have a great time celebrating your daughter! May they live long and happily together.

Speaking Of The US Army…
This was just too funny to read…😉😎
Elko, Nevada.
You Know. THE Elko “Chili Feed” Nevada…headed by THE dearly departed Lester Kent Brown…
“Millions Of Mormon Crickets Invade Elko, Nevada”
https://ksltv.com/558169/millions-of-mormon-crickets-invade-elko-nv/
“Millions of Mormon crickets have descended on six counties in Nevada creating a bug-infested nightmare for many residents.”
“They’re just gross,” Elko resident Precious Drake said. “They look like spiders, and they poop everywhere.”
“The crickets converged on Elko on Monday, covering vegetation, the roadways and even the Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital’s walls.”
“Take charge and carry out the Plan of the Day.”
Aye aye sir! Or Ma’am.
*grin*
Release the seagulls!
Yup, there he is: The never Special Forces, never a Ranger, never airborne, never a Desert Storm Veteran who has no CIB, who was never a buck sgt, let alone a MSG. Valor thief and phony pony par excellence.
So it sounds like the Big Man went Old Testament on those phonies and their enablers in Elko. 🤣
*Sigh*….
“This We’ll Defend” Yesterday, Today, and all of the Tomorrows.
Happy Birthday to The US (GO) Army…and to Old Glory. Betsy Ross smiles.
No snarky comments on David confusing Bastille Day (14 July) with Army/Flag Day (14 June)? Ya’ll slipping.
Happiest of birthdays to the branch that lighted Freedom’s charge!
Presented for the edification of all:
The Infantryman’s Creed
I am the Infantry.
I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever.
I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.
I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world.
In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win.
Never will I fail my country’s trust.
Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall.
If necessary, I will fight to my death.
By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom.
I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds,
For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight.
I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty.
I am relentless.
I am always there, now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!
FOLLOW ME!
….
Addendum: I will not forget my roots. (see below)
One Uncle chased Pancho Villa around on a horse before going over seas during WW1 with his Brooklyn NYC guard Cav unit, another uncle went overseas during WW2 as an Arty Officer, my other Uncle was a Doctor that landed in Normandy and Dad was Coast arty. and wound up as a 16 in. coastal gun instructer, and of course yours truly wound up in the Navy and did 2 years in the ARNG 11B20.
Happy Birthday Army.
