Buzz Aldrin gets his very own star
One of the bigger personalities in the Space Race has to be Buzz Aldrin, the second man (after Neil Armstrong) to step on the Moon. The man keeps making news even into his 90’s, and seemingly for all good reasons.
The former US astronaut Buzz Aldrin has got married for the fourth time on his 93rd birthday. (January 20 – Ed.)
The former pilot said that he and new wife Anca Faur were as “excited as eloping teenagers”.
Dr. Faur, 63, who has a PhD in chemical engineering, is the executive vice president of Mr. Aldrin’s company, Buzz Aldrin VenturesBBC.
Ya gotta admit, at 93 and 63 respectively, they both look damn good for their ages. And doctorates in chemical engineering don’t just fall into your lap.
But I guess good things just keep happening to good people:
Retired astronaut and U.S. Air Force Col. Buzz Aldrin soared to another height in his long career after being appointed an Honorary Brigadier General of the Space Systems Command at the Los Angeles Air Force Base.
Worth noting, he is a West Point grad (1951) who wanted to fly. Not sure how many folks can brag about getting a star in their third branch of the military, but there can’t be too many. Loved what he said in his acceptance speech:
“I intend to impatiently pester Elon Musk a lot harder, so that he and I will be waiting, there on the Moon, to greet the NASA astronauts when they land.”
He also reiterated that he had actually been to the Moon, a dig at all the folks who say the Moon Landing was staged (ignoring that there have also been multiple landings since the first one. ) Aldrin famously belted a landing-denier a few years back, proving there’s bite as well as bark there.

I just hope that I’m doing half that well at 93.
Right now I’m battling a pinched sciatic nerve down my left leg. Ouch!
Hope you overcome the sciatic nerve problem Pres Elect. I’m trying to get the right adjustment of medication for my new bout with gout.
I’ve had a psychotic nerve issue before
on my left side I wouldn’t wish that pain on even my ex-wife
They broke the mold with those original astronaut crews.
Truly the “right stuff.”
Was laughing my ass off when he popped that pompous douchebag in the face too.
We need more of that nowadays.
Truly a long time forgotten attitude adjuster.
I think he had to do some community service because the poopybutt beta/omale gots his feewings all hurted up…
Those guys really were “The Right Stuff”. Many happy returns General Aldrin.
And Manchu !!!
No charges were ever filed.
Dropped that asshat like a hot moonrock.
Go, Buzz!
An amazing man! He obviously is doing something correct!
I like to think he’s living the life of a man who truly has nothing to prove to anybody. That right there is the way to do it, especially when you’re content with your achievements whatever they may be.
I agree Deckie. Looking at his new bride I thought he married a young caretaker… but that appears to be far from the truth. While thirty years younger, and looking another thirty years younger, they seemed to have met and found they had a lot in common.
In researching, I also learned that the Soviets were actually lurking right behind us that day, and landed Luna15 just after the Niel and Buzz touched down. Although Landed would be the Soviet term for what actually happened, and ultimately meant the end of the Soviet space program.
I doubt he is completely content.
He went to the North Pole when he was in his 70s. He travelled to the South Pole when he was 86, making him the oldest person to ever do so. I believe he is the only human in history to have ever travelled to both poles and the moon.
Every person that I have ever met over 100 years old has told me roughly the same thing: Don’t spend much time sitting. Stay active, go do. When you stop doing and sit around you start dying.
True — I was thinking more along the lines of how he stayed such a classy gentleman. By all accounts I’ve heard one on one he is a very nice man.
Unless you try to tell him that the moon landings were faked!
Aw hell, the guy he punched had it coming. Besides, how would you like to be the guy who’s famous for being knocked the fuck out by an old man? Can’t show your face at the local watering hole after something like that.
I wouldn’t say that he isn’t content. I had someone ask me 25 years ago if I was happy with my life. I replied that I wasn’t happy with it, but I was content. In other words, it wasn’t bad, but I knew it could be better. Not on the same level as Col. Aldrin, but I worked hard to make it better. I’m still content, probably won’t be happy until my time is up. As long as you keep working to make it better, the job is never done. To your point, get busy living.
As Mr. Buffet (Jimmy, not Warren) said: I’d rather die while I’m living than live while I’m dead.”
Remember when he punched that conspiracy theorist in the face?
I’d say he should have sent him straight to the moon, but I doubt he wants that trash on his property.
Not only is Buzz an ageless stud he’s smart too. Graduated third in his West Point class with a BS in Mechanical Engineering and earned a Doctor of Science in Astronautics degree from MIT! And Buzz found time to shoot down two MiG-15s during the Korean War.
Godspeed Dr. Rendezvous!
Time for me to start looking for a 35 year old rich widow with a heart condition.
Well, this is interesting reference Buzz’s 3rd divorce in December 2012:
“Aldrin and his third wife, Lois Driggs Cannon, initially filed papers with the Los Angeles Superior Court in June 2011, citing irreconcilable differences, but have been
embroiled in bitter settlement talks. According to documents signed on Dec. 28, Cannon will receive 50 percent of Aldrin’s bank account and 50 percent of the profits from his businesses, trademarks and stocks. Aldrin will also pay Cannon $9,500 a month in spousal support and 30 percent of his annual income.”

Greedy bitch.
Green Thumb:
You NAILED It!!
The hell? Say it ain’t so!
“Ya gotta admit, at 93 and 63 respectively, they both look damn good for their ages.”
In the world of plastic surgery, sometimes the arms do not match the face.
Something wrong with Buzz’s arms?
She does look like she’s back from a fresh depot-level rebuild.
Good point. I always look at hands third after meeting a broad.
True that. The hands never lie…
You can do Botox with the face and surgery for the rest but you can’t fake the hands.
This one time in Okinawa….before it was cool….my roommate took me to a “local Bar”, which Americans were usually frowned upon…
and 2 lovely, long gowned, ladies greeted us and took us to a table and we got some beers….and I pulled out a cigarette….and I coudn’t understand why my roommate had this shiteating grin all the time…and the nice lady reached across the table to light my smoke…and had bigger and harrier knuckles than I did….we finished our beers and left.
A week later we took about 5 of the guys from the dorm and held the door for them as they entered and then walked across the street for the show to start. They hung out for about 1/2 an hour and we started to worry. They had their beers and paid their tabs and bailed as well.
