Marion County authorities identify suspect killed during La Rue drug raid
Andrew Carter, Marion Star
Marion County authorities have released the identity of the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting during the raid of a La Rue residence on Tuesday morning.A joint press release issued Wednesday afternoon by the Marion Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Office identifies the deceased individual as Travis W. Hellinger, age 38, La Rue. His home address is listed as the residence in the 200 block of North Swain Avenue where officers from the Marion County Special Response Team executed a search warrant on Tuesday morning.
According to a press release issued by the MARMET Drug Task Force, the officer-involved shooting occurred as members of the Marion County Special Response Team were executing a search warrant just after 5 a.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 200 block of North Swain Avenue in the village of La Rue where they believed Hellinger, who was suspected of trafficking in methamphetamine in Marion County, lived.
Authorities say Hellinger was allegedly armed with three semiautomatic handguns when he fled the house on foot and ran towards railroad tracks located on North Section Street in La Rue.
According to the press release, Hellinger was “screaming at police” as he walked along the railroad tracks. Officers then “pleaded with (Hellinger) to drop his guns and give himself up peacefully.” A K-9 was deployed in an attempt “to end the standoff without gunfire,” officials said.

by: Bill Smith
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Affidavits released Monday show investigators believe a juvenile died after being shot when he and two teens attempted to carjack a woman outside a Little Rock apartment Sunday night. The teens, identified as 18-year-old Daryl Jones and 15-year-old Tamarion Jones, now both face a charge of capital murder in the case.
According to the reports from the Little Rock Police Department, officers responded to a building in the Eagles Nest apartment complex off of Torrey Pine Court after receiving a report of gunfire. The officer said they found the driver who had called 911.
The driver told the officer three people had come up to the driver’s car, with one of them, who police later identified as Kenneth Perkins, tapping on the window with a gun and telling the driver to get out of the car. The driver then told officers that they asked Perkins, who police said was the juvenile who died in the incident, what they said, and in the confusion, pulled out their own gun.

Pro wrestling legend Jim Duggan recalls taking down home intruder: ‘It was terrifying’
Duggan praised the authorities for their quick response
By Ryan Gaydos | Fox News
“Hacksaw” Jim Duggan needed to toss his opponents out of the ring when he won the first-ever Royal Rumble in WWE history in 1988, and 34 years later, he applied the same skill to force an intruder out of his South Carolina home.Duggan, 68, and his wife were involved in a scary incident earlier this month when a random individual burst into their home allegedly looking for help and claimed there were people after him trying to kill him. Duggan, the WWE Hall of Famer, grabbed his gun and held the home invader at gunpoint until the authorities arrived to clear up what was going on.
He appeared on “Fox & Friends First” on Wednesday and explained to co-host Todd Piro what happened.
“We live way out in the country in South Carolina, probably 200 yards off the main road, down a dirt road. It was totally dark. My wife was the only one who had Christmas lights on in the whole street. I’m watching TV, she’s making the bed. And all of a sudden there’s this huge pounding on our door,” the legendary pro wrestler said.
