Suspects led police chase after shooting at man who saw them break into cars: KCK police
Robert A. Cronkleton
Two people caught breaking into cars in western Wyandotte County early Tuesday fired shots at one of their victims who chased after them and then led police on a high-speed chase from Kansas into Missouri that ended in a rollover crash, police said. Both suspects were ejected in the crash and were taken to a hospital. The passenger had life-threatening injuries and the driver had serious injuries.
The suspects allegedly were breaking into cars in the Westlake neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas, about 2:45 a.m. Tuesday. One of their victims confronted the suspects as they were breaking into his car, said Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman for the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department.
The victim started chasing the suspects, who fled in a white late-1990s or early 2000s Chevrolet Silverado extended cab pickup truck. Near 110th Street and Stave Avenue, the suspects got behind the victim and started shooting at him, Chartrand said.
Officers spotted the suspect vehicle shortly there after at 75th Street and State and began to pursue it.

Man shot, killed by police after threatening officers with spear, Hudson police say
WSOCTV.com News Staff
The district attorney announced Tuesday that an officer-involved shooting Friday in Hudson was justified.A man was shot and killed by police after calling officers to his Caldwell County home and threatening them, according to the Hudson Police Department.
The district attorney said that he reviewed the officers’ body camera video and the SBI investigation and found no criminal conduct by the officers.
Police officers said they responded to a home on Eastview Street near Highway 321 in Hudson around 5:30 a.m. on Friday after receiving calls about a sexual assault at the location.
James Preston Trexler Jr., 44, was identified by police as the caller. When officers arrived, Trexler was outside with a spear.
Based on previous responses to the home, officers said they learned the reports of sexual assault were not accurate, but were worried for the people inside the home. With that understanding, police said they tried to get Trexler to drop the weapon.
Channel 9?s Dave Faherty learned last week that Trexler lived in a garage behind his parent’s home.
In their efforts to deescalate the situation, officers said they made two unsuccessful attempts to use nonlethal options to disarm Trexler.
Police said Trexler threw a trash can at officers and made a lunging movement toward them with a spear that was interpreted as an imminent threat.

…Doesn’t Mean You Should.
“The List” grows, and I swear that I read “Houston” in the title. Thanks once again for the links, Gun Bunny.

Wait!?……WHAT!!??
The perp CALLED the police to his home.
Then threatened them with……a spear!?
Waaaaay past time to let Darwin take its course and start culling the human herd.
Oh, and add another item to the ever growing list of “things to NOT bring to a gun fight”.
How large is the printed version list now? Pamphlet? Book? Encyclopedia volume?
We’ll be working on a TAH/VG coffee table version.
Can’t wait for the publication to buy a copy.
Lots of nothing here.
I don’t think any of Teddy’s Rough Riders would come close to that railed abomination.
They might think (sans the rails) “Oh. How cute. A revolver in 22LR. With a safety? Now let me show you a REAL MAN’S gun. In 45 Colt. The only safety is keeping my finger off the trigger.”
“…a REAL MAN’S gun. In 45 Colt.” Messrs Paladin and Dillion grin. You’d play hell doing a fast draw with that rail…and safety…and at those close ranges…”We don’t need no stinking scope.” There’s a truth for you Mr. Orwell.
Those lads went from Jayhawker to Show Me…as in Show me how bad you drive.
Welp, you alluded to the desire to, but didn’t, so I’ll just leave this here:
Not sure if there is meant to be an allusion to Teddy’s boys or just a descriptions of a ‘rough’ gun. Will say this: while fugly, those RRs shoot surprisingly well. Me, I am leaning more to a Sig 322.
Have you seen the tacti-cool blacked-out coach gun with a rail under the barrels?
I’d call that monstrosity a “Tacti-fool” thing, and as for “cowboy” that one’s all hat and no cattle.
Someone who’d carry that is bound to piss on your boots and tell you it’s raining.
Something to let the young’uns train with (under supervision) while waiting for the upgrade to The Real Thang.
Not a bad strategy – although I’m inclined more to the Ruger Single-Six in .22 for that style of revolver.
Dad had a Colt SAA in .22 (engraved, too!) with which he introduced us to the joys of plinking – and safety.
The Ruger SR22 (a semi-auto) is a good first step, IMHO, to moving to a full-sized pistol later.
Never bring a spear to a gunfight unless you have another spear one lying around for backup.I wonder if the spear was in mint condition. Well the PD didn’t spear his life even though they tried to spear it. Oh well, I’ll just disa spear from this comment and try not to be in despear over it.
That was a three-groaner. Congratulations and applause……and a hemp necktie.
Thanks for the praise Tox. Much Appreciated.
Hey, can I go there?!
