Lower voting age to 16, increase gun purchasing age to 21?

| June 17, 2022

This is what Representative Ayanna Pressley is hoping would be accomplished. She wants to lower the voting age to 16, while also arguing that gun purchasers should be at least 21 years old. When Fox News Digital questioned Pressley regarding her desire for these two initiatives, they did not receive a response as of the posting of their article.

From Fox News:

“A 16-year-old in 2021 possesses a wisdom and a maturity that comes from 2021 challenges, 2021 hardships, and 2021 threats,” Pressley said in March of last year. “Now is the time for us to demonstrate the courage that matches the challenges of the modern-day 16- and 17-year-old.”

Pressley also said in a Facebook live conversation after the amendment failed that she was “shocked” the idea of lowering the voting age to 16 was “polarizing.”

Left-wing efforts to lower the voting age failed to pass a Democrat-controlled House of Representatives twice since 2019.

Conservatives have pushed back on the idea, with several calling out the motives behind such a push as data shows younger Americans tend to vote blue.

Based on the razor-thin vote margins, though, the idea does not have enough backing even among House Democrats to clear the majority hurdle.

And a two year old can pick their own gender?

Odie

Why do some parents allow their 5 and 6 year olds to pick their gender but won’t let them pick their own dinner. Or their noses for that matter.

No parental guidance is going to lead to a future generation of young adults who can’t reason right from wrong.

For lots of ’em, we’re already there.

Oh that happened several years ago as evidenced by people’s behavior towards Police and authority in general as well as disinterest in actually working for a living.

Also,

Democratic Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley, who has repeatedly pushed to defund the police, spent thousands of taxpayers’ dollars on private security, according to newly released Statement of Disbursements of the House records…Pressley spent $14,000 of her Member Representational Allowance (MRA) on “security service” between January and March 2022 [see link for full spread]

Every single young man, until he turns 18. Even a few of them, afterwards.

Tell ya what, Skrunt…When you show me some teens willing to face the challanges of The Viet of the Nam, The Chosin Resevior, Island Hopping in ’44/45, The Beaches of Normandy, Belleu Woods, San Juan Hill, The Wilderness, Gettysburg….need I go on?, then and only then can you talk about the “challenges” of 2021. The “challenges” of 2021 were brought about as a direct result of stolen elections and the cover up there of, with recurring failed policy decisions of demonrat and rino despotic politicians. FAFO

Lower the Voting Age to 16, gun Purchase to 21 while telling 5-year-old kids they can change their gender, further proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

Unfortunately I have but 1 thumbs up to record, but you’re right.

One of these things is a right guaranteed by the Constitution, and the other is just an opportunity to participate in our representative republic but not a Constitutionally-protected right.
Nitwits need to get that straight.

Hate_me

26th Amendment constitutionally protects the right to vote, that it cannot be restricted due to age (as long as one is at least 18).

The 26th Amendment only prohibits age from being a disqualifying factor for a citizen to vote; however, the Constitution makes no provision for anyone to vote. It is left to the legislatures of the various states to determine how representatives, presidential electors, and, since the 17th Amendment, Senators are chosen.
You do not have a Constitutional right to vote, but if you are otherwise eligible to vote as determined by your state, then that eligibility must apply to all who are 18 or older.

Wait until November.
Oh wait, we don’t have to wait until November.

This is the same “genius” ( 💩 ) who pushes defunding police while spending $50,000 of taxpayer money (individual member offices’ expenditures) for private security in 2021.

Swap that.
