Seattle officer shoots, wounds man firing rifle in apartment complex
A Seattle police officer shot and wounded a man who was firing a rifle in an apartment complex in the Squire Park neighborhood near the Central District Friday.
At 4:34 a.m., police began receiving reports of shots fired near 14th Avenue and East Yesler Way, not far from Bailey Gatzert Elementary School.
Officers arrived and heard gunshots and people screaming.
Police entered the apartment complex and found a man armed with a rifle. One officer fired at the man, striking him. The man then went into an apartment unit and refused to come out.
There was a large police presence and an armored vehicle was seen outside the Sorento apartments during the response.
Officers eventually convinced the man to surrender. He was taken into custody and transported to Harborview Medical Center.
Police searched the apartment building and found no victims but did find several apartments damaged by gunfire.

A proven way to find yourself shot is to point a weapon at an LEO. Too bad the LEOs didn’t follow up with a (Taxpayer’s) Money (Savings) Shot.
I plan on living free or selling my life dearly when they try to take my freedom. Carry concealed…everywhere. Ask not for whom the despots come…they come for thee.
“…steel frame…Browning recoil…heir of the Browning…many of John Browning’s pistol designs…” Let us all Bear Witness to the Power and the Glory of His Most Saintly, John Moses Browning…Howitzer Be His Name…as we turn in His Book to Rev 19:11.
Yeah, and most of those references were to the HiPower, not the 1911. There is a new biography out on Browning, btw
Browning, the man? Or Browning, the pistol?
When I was on the Brink’s pistol team, Colt if I remember made the super .38’s but I never bought one. Used the S&W Mod 14 .38 6 in. barrel wheel gun with a bomar rib with Bomar front and rear sights installed which I used for Police EL matches along with my Victor High Standard for .22 rimfire Police El matches. Outdoor Combat matches, I used my service/work S&W Mod 10 .38 4in. bull barrel and belt mounted leather drop pouches. No Safariland speed loaders in those days.
I bet since it was close to a school, they will call this a school shooting. (But that is a gun free zone.)
