I did some digging and found that I can take the Amtrak to my sister’s hometown down south of me, a little over a 5 hour trip, and return. I detest flying now, so a passenger train (Or a bus, if nothing else) is fine with me.

Hack Stone was poking around YouTube earlier this week, and came across this interview with a host he never heard of, interviewing the one and only frank Stallone. The entire video is near 50 minutes long, but is well worth the effort of viewing. If you can’t commit to the 50 minutes, just pick it up at around the 13:00 mark, where they discuss the greatest film ever made, the 1989 cinematic classic Terror In Beverly Hills. Guaranteed to make you laugh.

Cool Frank Stallone story –
Frank Stallone came into a Tobacco shop I worked in, many years ago. He was in-town, doing a one week show at Massey Hall. Evidently, he was shopping in Yorkville, saw our store and decided to come in and yours truly just happened to be the only clerk on the floor – boss was downstairs getting restock for the humidor room, other clerk was -ironically- out on a smoke break. After a bit of a leisurely chat, Frank ended up buying a four Cuban cigars(Monte Cristo’s), a leather Dunhill cigar case, a pack of Sipahi cigarettes(Egyptian) and a carton of Marlboros. Paid cash – remember him smiling and saying ‘Cash is king’ – he paid in USD, the sale was a little over $700.00 CDN(approx 1.60 CDN to 1.00 USD at the time). Tipped me twenty bucks and also handed me a set of comp tickets to his show – front row/press, no less! That was a very memorable work day and a couple days later, made for an exceedingly cool Friday night. Put a special edge on watching his documentary. No two ways about it – Frank Stallone is a 100% Class act and proud to say I’ve crossed paths with him 😎

Way back when we were told that such a thing could never, ever happen. It was unpossible, we were told, that the PATRIOT Act could ever be used for evil.

WooHoo! Border Patrol Agents on the Washington / Canadian border have made the (local) news…
“U.S. Customs and Border Protection Border Patrol agents from the Blaine Sector arrested four people from East India for reportedly attempting to illegally cross the border from Canada into Whatcom County on Monday.
“Utilizing advanced drone technology, Blaine Sector Agents respond to cross border threats,” Blaine Sector Chief Patrol Agent David BeMiller wrote in a tweet posted Wednesday. “Two nights ago, Blaine Agents apprehended four subjects who illegally crossed the border.”
The arrests occurred in the Blaine Station area of operation, Customs and Border Protection spokesperson Jason Givens told The Bellingham Herald in an email.
The four people were found to be from East India, and had no outstanding warrants, Givens reported. They were transferred to the Northwest ICE Processing Center in Tacoma.”
This marks 272 apprehensions for this one sector this year. (Fence free in the sector)

Counselor, the same though occurred to me a coupla weeks ago while staring at our newest little orphan cat, a beautiful, young, Siamese male, one of a long, long string of strays and orphans that Miz Poe and I have given a home since the first year of our more than half century of marriage.
He and I sat there looking at each other and suddenly the thought hit me that he’s only a coupla years old and is very likely going to outlive this old man who has dug countless graves for old, expired kitties down through the decades.
Let me tell you, it’s a sobering thought…😳
