Police: Officer Shot Theft Suspect Who Rammed Police Vehicle
Howard County police say an officer shot and wounded the driver of a car that rammed a police vehicle Monday as officers confronted a group suspected of theft.
JESSUP, Md. (AP) — A Howard County police officer shot and wounded the driver of a car that rammed a police vehicle Monday as officers confronted a group suspected of stealing a large quantity of merchandise from a store, police said. Two officers were also injured in the confrontation.
Officers located a group of suspects who were wanted on warrants from other jurisdictions and had stolen a large number of power tools from the Lowe’s in Elkridge Monday afternoon, police said in a news release. Officers followed the suspects to a Jessup self-storage unit, where they saw them with stolen goods and confronted them, police said. That’s when the suspects tried to flee in a car, ramming a police vehicle and police shot the driver, police said.
The injured suspect, identified as Donte Bernard Shaw, 31, of Washington, D.C., was treated at a hospital and released Monday, police said. He’s charged with two counts each of first-degree assault and second-degree assault against a law enforcement officer, theft, and other offences. Shaw is being held without bond. Online court records don’t list an attorney is for Shaw.

Sad the kids had to witness this. No sympathy for the baby-daddy, though.

Bravo Zulu to Howard County police for showing restraint.
My sympathies to Kansas City Mom for having to do what she had to do, time and love will eventually heal.
And obviously, breaking into a present or previous acquaintance’s home may be hazardous to one’s health…
Thank you AW1Ed
Not sure why the Kansas City Star is covering stories from Humble, TX (Harris County) outside Houston [about 780 miles away] but yeah, good for Mom on defending herself…the kids probably missed their first day of school! Hope they can all work through the trauma.
Be it ever so Humble, there’s no place like home.
I guess mom forced dad to eat an extra large serving of Humble pie. But it seems that dear deceased dad was just begging for it.
What? Too soon?
I’m thinking that the main reason that the Howard county shoplifting perp was only wounded by the police officer, was due to the deflection of the bullet as it passed through the windshield. Lucky perp.
So very close to the trifecta of DRT. Maybe a fatal case of septis will set in for the MD perp. WW will at least smile, “…cause 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.” (ht 2 Meatloaf)
Baby daddy was a real piece of work. Wasn’t the FIRST (ht 2 Sparks) he had forced those young’uns to witness his violence against the Mom. This became his last time tho.
Wrong house mofo…even if it was supposedly an “acquaintance”. Maybe the perp will make some new friends in hell.
Today’s gun pr0n is proof that AW1Ed also loves the wives, lovers, and sweethearts (may the 3 never meet) of the miscreanted d’weeded deplorables and wants them to be happy too. The involuntary vascular reaction caused by said gun pr0n may want the wives, lovers, and sweethearts (may the 3 never meet) reach out and touch something themselves. :leer:
Glad the Humble mom was able to defend herself and her children.
That’s a damnable memory to leave your kids – a father who beats his wife and has to be killed while they are trying to get to school.
Can you see the look on the principles’ face at the “why I’m late” note? “Please excuse _____’s tardiness, as I had to kill ____’s father before they could safely get to school?”
Principle: “Note to self: do not, under any circumstances, aggravate ____’s mother.”
Some folks just need killin’
And just to pass on an odd regional quirk: Humble is pronounced Umble, not Humble, by locals. It is near the place called Youston. Go figure.
David,
Do you know the proper pronunciation of “Kuykendahl” though?
Can you identify a feeder road?
Hmmm?
