Updates on Arkansas shooting (Updated)

| June 6, 2009

The Arkansas governor, Mike Beebe, announced yesterday on his radio show that flags in the state will fly at half staff for PVT William Long;

Gov. Mike Beebe has directed that flags fly at half-staff on Monday to honor Pvt. William Long, a new soldier who was fatally shot outside an Army-Navy recruiting center this week.

Meanwhile, his murderer was in court;

Defendant Abdulhakim Muhammad was in a Little Rock courtroom Friday morning to have a defense attorney formally appointed to his case.

Muhammad has pleaded not guilty to capital murder. He stood silent during the court hearing – though lawyer Jim Hensley had said previously that his client had wanted to make a statement or hold a news conference to “explain himself.“

Although you won’t read it in any of the so-called mainstream media, since they’re too busy fawning over their martyred abortion doctor, but PVT Long’s funeral is scheduled for Monday;

Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in Conway says the family of Pvt. William Long will hold a public funeral at 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Harlan Park Baptist Church in Conway. The funeral home says Long will be buried at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock at noon Monday.

The story about the funeral also reprints a supposed statement from the White House;

I am deeply saddened by this senseless act of violence against two brave young soldiers who were doing their part to strengthen our armed forces and keep our country safe. I would like to wish Quinton Ezeagwula a speedy recovery, and to offer my condolences and prayers to William Long’s family as they mourn the loss of their son.

I say “supposed” because there’s no record of an official statement from the White House on the website. However, there is a statement on the murder of the Left’s newest martyr, but nothing about PVT Long.

Update: Rurik sends an email with links to Doug Ross who uncovers the reason that the Administration isn’t particularly interested in the murderer Bledsoe. More from Michelle Malkin in regards to the DOJ new policies here and here.

Doug Ross has a link to Bluecollar Republican who did a little excellent shoe-leather journalism and actually interviewed members of the mosque that Bledsoe attended in Memphis.

But pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

Rest in peace Pvt. William Long. There are so many patriots like you who respect your service and sacrifice. Your death will not be in vain. In fact, the deafening silence from those in power serves only to bring more attention to the problems Americans are fast becoming aware of. May God bless you. See you at Fiddlers Green one day.

John:

FYI–this week Congress will pass a resolution condemning Long’s murder. There’s not a resolution number yet, but it could come up as early as Tuesday in the House.

H.Res. __ – Condemning the murder of Army Private William Long and the wounding of Army Private Quinton Ezeagwula, who were shot outside the Army Navy Career Center in Little Rock, Arkansas on June 1, 2009 (Rep. Franks – Judiciary)
