Recruits train aboard Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, S.C. (Lance Cpl. Devin Darden/Marine Corps)

You will still need the shot every fall! Bother!!!!

Having had Covid-19 in the past does not give you immunity to it, per this article from Marine Corps Times. Marines who had it and recovered before they arrived at boot camp were not immune to it after they arrived. They still tested positive after arriving for training. Most likely, a different variant is what infected them, because this nasty bug shifts its RNA around like a poker dealer at a casino.

From the article:  Ten percent of the recruits whose blood tested positive for COVID-19 antibodies before training were re-infected with COVID while in basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina.

The findings make a strong argument for healthy young Americans to get vaccinated, according to researchers.

“For our particular population, this is very strong data about why individuals previously infected, regardless of whether they had symptoms or not, should get the vaccine in accordance with DoD policy,” said Navy Cmdr. Andrew Letizia, deputy director of the infectious disease directorate at the Naval Medical Research Center. The doctor is one of the researchers and authors of the study, published in the Lancet Respiratory Medicine Journal Thursday.

Antibodies are proteins made by the immune system to fight infections; it’s uncertain whether young adults who get COVID are at risk of getting it again. NMRC conducted the study along with the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai to examine how effective antibodies are in preventing future COVID infections. – article

It’s a nasty bug, one that you don’t want and apparently, even if you catch it and survive (as has been outlined on the local news where I live), you only have the antibodies for that variant. This critter shifts its RNA around like a cheap hooker on a bender, the same as the flu does every year. As a local doctor who is the head of the Infectious Diseases at a university said this morning, we’ll have to approach the same as the seasonal flu shot: a booster every fall.

No, we’re not doomed — not yet.

So….if it shifts and mutates causing the need for a booster. Why the rush to get everyone vaccinated NOW?

A lot of of people don’t even take annual flu shots just for this reason.

They tell us to trust the “science and the data”. Okay. Anyone willing/able to explain this? Since the ‘pandemic’ began; there has been 31,231,869 cases of Covid-19, with 1.9 million requiring hospitalization (6.3%) and 561,356 deaths. That equates to a 1.7% mortality rate (IF YOU CATCH IT). Since they’ve been pimping this vaccine as ‘getting us back to normal’, they’ve given out appx 78 million full vaccinations. Out of those, 5800 have caught Covid-19, resulting in 400 requiring treatment at hospitals (6.8%) and 74 dying from it, a 1.2% mortality rate. Basically it reduces the need for hospitalization and the chance of dying by HALF A PERCENT.
So what this shows ME is that you’re taking a gamble on an unproven vaccine….that does absolutely nothing.

Jay,
You are correct, but you are doing the math wrong.
Fully half of those infected with COVID have no symptoms at all.
So they never get tested for Covid.
You need to double the number of infected, which will halve the percentage who die.
Yes also disagree with the conclusion, that those with antibodies who test positive have a second infection.
I am treating lots of corona patients, and I have never seen a single case of someone getting sick from it twice.
No doctor I know has seen a single case of re-infection.
I am betting there are some false positives in that sample referred to in the article.

“This critter shifts its RNA around like a cheap hooker on a bender…

Fuck yes! Finally, something I know how to handle.

Can you still meet some Gen. Joseph Hooker’s Girls at the Willard Hotel?

We are in week 57 of the 2 week lockdown to “flatten the curve.”

With apologies at Ex-PH2 in advance….

Did anyone *else* read that first part as … “because this nasty bug shifts its RNA around like a peker dealer …

No, maybe? Just me?
OK whatever…
Carry on….
