Pasco County’s K9 Shep takes down murder suspect

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – A K9 team that has been popular for their takedowns captured on body camera footage over the years recently apprehended a murder suspect in Pasco County, officials said.

On Wednesday, before sunrise, Pasco County deputies responded to a shooting reported in Hudson and located the body of a man. Investigators said they believed the suspect knew the victim, and shot him during a robbery, fleeing with a backpack carrying money.

A few hours after, deputies said the suspect vehicle was spotted in New Port Richey but fled when deputies attempted a traffic stop. Stop sticks were deployed and the vehicle eventually became disabled.

The shooting suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Tyler Burgos, fled into a wooded area. That’s when K9 Deputy Nick Carmack and K9 Shep arrived.

Fairbanks man retrieves pistol from his car to stop robbery attempt

FAIRBANKS – A Fairbanks man stopped an attempted robbery at a gas station by pointing his gun at the suspect and holding him until law enforcement arrived, authorities said.

Nick Moore said he was standing in line Friday at a Holiday store with his breakfast and energy drink when a teen walked in with a knife.

“I kind of backed up a little bit to see what he was going to do, but I kind of already had an inkling in my mind of what was going to happen,” Moore told Fairbanks television station KTVF.

His suspicion turned out to be correct; the teen told employees he was robbing the store.

“I put my stuff on the counter, snuck out the door, ran to my car, grabbed my pistol and came back up to the door,” Moore said. “He just turned to look at me. I racked my slide on my pistol and pointed it at him and he put his hands up.”

It is sobering to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence.

My only comment on the Alaska story is that the Good Guy had to go back to his car to get his sidearm. One’s pistol should be with you everywhere, everywhen, possible.

Aaaaaand once again, we see the truth of the statement about “knife vs gun”.

As usual, the po-po come out and proclaim, “don’t try to stop a robbery on your own. Call us, we’re the professionals. We’re only minutes away.”

Yes, by all means…..be a “good witness.” Or a victim.

“I put my stuff on the counter, snuck out the door, ran to my car, grabbed my pistol and came back up to the door,” Moore said. “He just turned to look at me. I racked my slide on my pistol and pointed it at him and he put his hands up.”

Ol’ Poe thinks he might have racked the slide and chambered a round before confronting the knife-wielding perp.

Just sayin’…

“Get ‘im Shep, Git ‘im” Bark Bark Bark “Police hands up mo——-” Bark Bark Bark “aieeee aieee please please please” Looks like Shep’s bite WAS worse than his bark! Fur missile, on target…bite for effect. You know that Shep had to lick his azz to get the perp taste out of his mouth. Shep IS a “Good Doggie”! I’d like to buy that pup a T-Bone Steak dinner too. He seems to be able to get his own chew toys.

Seems like knife boy got Moore than he counted on when he attempted to do a little unauthorized income redistribution. A good citizen reacting at the Nick in time. Wonder if the Good Citizen has a cousin named Clayton…that runs with a Native named Jay? Was the car white or Silver? What kind of metal were the bullets made of? “It’s not Fair, I was only going to take it to the bank.” Least he had enough sense to not use the knife that he had carried to that potential gun fight.

Long before that tragic boat accident, there was a Lancaster PA design, flintlock in .36 caliber hanging over the fireplace mantle. Fun to shoot and accurate as all hell. Many a young’un had a “blast” firing it at Rev War History Programs.

Speaking of Good, I hope that all of the miscreanted d’weeds and Adorable Deplorables of the Christian Faith have a “Good” Good Friday as we prepare to Celebrate the Resurrection.

And speaking of Fridays, do NOT forget that sometime this afternoon, the Friday TAH Weekend Open Thread will drop. No one but the Admin Poster knows the time. Who will vie for the Coveted Crown of FIRST? The Gun Bunny may be out and about for most of the day, so be alert, lube up your F5 keys, and monitor the ‘net. Even if I am around, I will refrain from posting ANY comment on the WOT, until someone has claimed the Coveted, usually EARNED never awarded, title of FIRST!

Hack Stone

Hack Stone will be out on the road traveling back to Stately Stone Manor when the Weekend Open Thread is likely to drop, so he would like to claim title to First Post of This Ain’t Hell Weekend Open Thread. Kind of like calling shotgun in the car.

Gun Bunny,
I did not notice the obvious (on hind sight – oh, wait, that’s the other story with the dog) double puns in that story. That’s what I get for waking up, reading in bed (quietly, so’s to not disturb the Mrs Deplorable), and trying to hurry before I get up to prep for work.
Good catch!
