Sir Sean Connery passes, age 90
It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the legendary actor Sir Sean Connery at age 90.
Like many of his generation he was a military man. He enlisted with the Royal Navy in 1946 at age 16. He was an anti-aircraft gunner. He rose to the rank of able seaman while aboard HMS Formidable. He was discharged for medical reasons in 1949 at age 19.
Connery then went on to a very successful acting career. Playing the quintessential James Bond in seven films over the span of two decades. He starred in such seminal war movies as The Longest Day and A Bridge Too Far.
Fair winds and following seas, Sean.

Godspeed and Farewell Sir Sean. Thank you for your Service Good Sir…On Screen and Off.
Rest well
Rest well.
On a less somber note, I always like Goldfinger.
I think he had issues in later life with stereotyping on the Bond character, but I did not mind.
Good Day Mr. Bond and Dr Jones.
Rest In Peace Sir.
This year we also lost Kenny Rogers and Charlie Daniels among others, anyone else just want to fast forward into next year already?
Back to the Future.
My favorite James Bond…
Fair Winds and Following Seas, Mr. Connery…
One ping only.
RIP
He was excellent in Hunt for Red October, but to us Russian linguists, his Rooskie was like fingernails on a chalk board. But I got over it.
I recently read ‘Hunt…’ after the wife gave her old Kindle. I read all the Ramius lines in my head with his accent.
I always laugh when the skipper tells Jonesy after a nice sonar catch, “Take a Hollywood, Jonesy!”
Guess you had to be there.
If Scotland had Boomers…
Nah. They have -banks-.
How in hell did Sean Connery end up being 90?
So long Mr. Connery. Your still in your thirties in my copies of Goldfinger, From Russia with Love, You only live twice, and Thunderball.
UK’s John Wayne, or at least to me. I think both guys are making an appearance on the DVD player tonight. Mrs. Larson won’t object. She likes both as well or better.
What’s with that?
RIP, Sir Connery. Peace to your family.
If the report I heard this morning is correct, he died peacefully in his sleep. Sounds like the right way to go.
So sad. He has always been my favorite Bond.
RIP sir.
Rest in peace Sir. You will be missed but never forgotten.
I first remember him from the Irish guy in “Darby O’Gill and the Little People.”

He was also a great James Bond. Whenever I read the original books, I always hear his voice as Bond, James Bond.
Amazing actor, last of a dying breed. If not for the “smack a bitch” commentary he might have gotten even more work.
Although such did expand his legacy:
And, ironically, Alex Trebek has now died. I’m sure the whole thing was just Saturday Night Live, but he didn’t like it.
A personal favorite:

Rest easy, good sir. Ye shall be missed.
Fair Winds and Following Seas shipmate.
Rest in Peace.
The BEST James Bond. Also did great in Last Crusade, Red October, and Medicine Man (highly underrated movie!)
