Florida woman shoots, kills man trying to break into her home
The sheriff said the shooting appeared ‘perfectly legal’

A Florida woman shot and killed a man who returned to her home after an argument early Saturday and tried to use a tire iron to smash his way inside, authorities said.

The shooting happened just after 6 a.m. in an unincorporated area of Auburndale in Polk County, Sheriff Grady Judd said at a news conference. Judd said it appeared the “shooter was perfectly legal to defend her home from a burglar.”

“You have a right to protect yourself in your home and be free from home invaders, armed burglars, and certainly he was armed with a tire iron and making an attempt to come in through the window,” Judd said. “She stopped him. She stopped him permanently.”

The homeowner and the suspect were known to each other, the sheriff said. They had gone out the night before to a pool hall in Lakeland with another man and a woman who was the suspect’s live-in girlfriend. The group of four returned to the woman’s home around 4 a.m. after stopping at a liquor store for a bottle of whiskey.

UPDATE
Threats against shooting victim’s family reported to judge who denied Wilson’s bond
But Muldrew states other reasons for his decision

By: AL HACKLE
Before denying bond to William “Marc” Wilson, who faces felony murder and aggravated assault charges in shooting death of Haley Hutcheson, 17, Judge Michael Muldrew heard reports that Hutcheson’s family received multiple threats via social media and email.

Nobody during the bond hearing Tuesday afternoon in Bulloch County Superior Court said that Wilson was responsible for any of these threats. In fact, he had already been in jail three weeks when at least some of the threats were received. Muldrew said he did not base his decision to deny bond on the threats but on witnesses’ accounts of Wilson’s actions.

However, the judge said he was “extremely concerned about public statements that have been uttered on behalf of the defendant.”

Wilson, who will soon be 22, has been held at the Bulloch County Jail since June 17, when he turned himself in.

Hutcheson, who was a Claxton High School student, was pronounced dead at East Georgia Regional Medical Center shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday, June 14, after being struck by a bullet while riding in a pickup truck on Veterans Memorial Parkway with four other teens.

Statesboro police alleged in warrants that Wilson fired the bullet that struck Hutcheson from a handgun in his car while both vehicles were in motion. Multiple shots were fired, according to testimony Tuesday.

Back on July 6, the day before Muldrew issued a gag order prohibiting anyone involved in the case from making public statements about it outside of the courtroom, Wilson’s parents and some of his defense attorneys held a press conference. The attorneys asserted that Wilson, who is biracial, and a girlfriend, who is white, were victims of a racist attack by people in the pickup truck, who were white, and that Wilson fired his gun in self-defense.

No score.

Slow start to the work-week, Delta Whiskies and Whiskettes. I suppose the criminal element is mostly occupied with burning and looting downtown Demville, although rumors of packs of thug branching out into suburbia have been reported. This will not end well.

Hack Stone

Hack was wondering what the body count in Chicago was for this weekend. Looks like your numbers are already outdated, with the Sun times reporting 66 people shot and 5 fatalities, as of 6:12 this morning. You stay classy Chicago.

Maybe you can install a clock in the upper corner of the homepage that tracks homicides in real time, like they do with the national debt. Page visitors may get nauseous watching the numbers run up so quickly.

“…She stopped him permanently.” Heh heh; And that Boys and Girls is how it it done. For those d’weeds easily confused, here is a direct link to “the rest of the story.”

Been trying to follow the Statesboro shooting, despite the gag order. I have Compatriots and former business associates there. More to the total story than is being released. The lawer is already jockeying for his racial prejudice appeal. Keeping my eyes peeled for updates.

Do the lead injections administered in Chitcongo add to the number of COVID related deaths or do they prevent the COVID death?

Hack Stone

They count as Covid deaths since all of this violence is directly attributable to citizens being locked in their homes for the last five months. All of the mayhem in Chicago prior to the Covid outbreak is due to people coping with the pending demise of the Earth due to Donald Trump and climate change.

I have been curious about the Statesboro case as well. I saw the parents appeal for him to be released. The original story made it sound like he shot and ran, but the real story is he was in a small car, driving down street with lots of stoplights. Several people in the truck were either hitting his car with stuff or making gestures. The girl in the middle of the truck just got unlucky to be hit…either that or she was leaning out when he fired back. The judge is not making it easy on the shooter, but easy for the “victim” families.

As for COVID: The lead injection was somebody using it as a disinfectant! So they died of COVID, ’cause it did not work.
